chapter 4
I woke to the sound of someone crying, which was strange since I didn't even remember falling asleep.
I then noticed that my windows were opened.
And strangely enough that was were the sound was coming from, outside.
I frowned. I didn't remember leaving it open, or did I... My head was all messed up with sleep.
Just like most stupid girls do in stupid movies, I asked the dumbest question in the world.
"Is anybody out there,"
I literally cringed at my question. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid!
Surprisingly the crying stopped. Not taking any chances, I closed my windows and sighed out.
I couldn't believe I asked that award winning question at night. How stupid could I get?
What if it was a robber that was using it as a way to get me to go outside so that he could kill me.
Although, the town seemed safe, 'you could never be to careful' and that beautiful saying is coming from a girl who watches Criminal Minds like its a drug.
I still didn't feel safe since the windows were see through and they didn't have any blinds.
I shook it off and went to the bathroom. Looking at the bathroom, I noticed something strange. Normally every bathroom has a sink, a shower and a toilet, which this one had. The strange thing was, there were no mirrors.
I found that strange cause I was used to seeing mirrors in every bathroom I went to.
Deciding to ask about that later, I washed my face and changed my clothes to a proper night wear. Then I hopped back in bed.
I wonder if any bathroom had a mirror or it was only mine.
The sun usually woke me up back at home. Even though the town was dark and the sun wasn't going to wake up when I didn't want to get up, I still woke up feeling drained.
The sound of a tree branch hitting my window reminded me that I still had to get the curtains.
Dragging my lazy self out of bed, I went to get ready for the day. After dressing up in dark skinny jeans, tank top and jacket, which was basically what I wore everyday. Sue me I love jackets.
I walked into the kitchen and sat down at the dining table which kinda felt weird since I had a breakfast bar at home and I was used to it.
The table was already stacked with so much food it almost made me smile,
Almost.
I was really grumpy today.
Aunt June walked in shortly which saved me the awkwardness of eating first.
"How was your night lia," She said in that monotone voice I hoped I would get used to.
"It was fine, but my windows don't have any curtains." I said jumping to the point. I really hoped it wasn't awkward.
"Today you can go shopping for what you need. If you want I can give you some money,"
I felt relieved not only because of the curtain fiasco, but now I could leave to explore the town.
"No aunt June I think I have enough," I replied happily.
She nodded as continued eating. It was still awkward since we were the only ones at the table.
After breakfast I went to my room to get my wallet and phone, which I put in my pocket.
I was NOT a bag person. It always felt weird for me to be holding a bag, but it felt even more weird that I couldn't look at myself in the mirror to see if I was okay to go out.
So I just used my phone camera. 'remember to buy a mirror' I noted in my head.
I went back downstairs where I saw Mina standing.
"If it's okay with you, I can show you around,"
I blinked, I thought I'll be going alone. But I guess it made sense. I still didn't know the town and I could get lost.
And on the bright side, Mina seemed cool. She looked like she was only a few years older than me.
"Sure," I said. Then we both went outside.
