chapter 3
"I'm really going to miss you, honey,"
The time has come for my mum to leave me here and go back home.
I feel really sad inside. It's going to be the first time I'm leaving my mum for a long time since I am going to be staying with my aunt for five months.
Yes, five months. I already finished high school, and the college I signed up for is practically in another country because of how far it is.
So my mum decided it would be a great idea if I stayed with my already aging aunt before I went to college.
I felt like crying because I knew my mum would be alone at home. She didn't have another child and her husband was always busy with work so I couldn't count on him to watch over her.
I knew it was going to be weird staying so far away from her, but she said it was a good thing since I was going to college soon and she won't see me often so this was good practice and she needed to man up and stop being a pussy. Her words, not mine.
So here we are, hugging the life out of each other.
"I'm going to miss you so much," I said still willing myself not to cry.
I looked at her again taking in her kind brown eyes, tan skin and dark brown hair which still managed to be lighter than mine.
People said we looked like twins because of how similar we looked.
Although I was a bit taller, slimmer and had darker eyes and hair which always looked black, we both had the same cute button nose and small plump lips complemented with an oval-shaped face.
Yep, I and my mum were hot. And sadly, we both knew it.
"I'll call you every day so make sure you are available," She said wiping some tears away from her eyes.
"OK, OK, I will mum, if we continue like this you won't leave," I told her trying to be strong for the both of us. She nodded and finally released me.
She turned to her sister who was watching the whole exchange with an unknown expression.
"Take good care of my daughter for me June,"
"I will, don't worry Katrina," Aunt June replied in a monotone voice. My mum let out a sigh and looked at me again.
"Goodbye Eliana," I rolled my eyes. My mum hardly used my full name. Hell, no one ever used my full name.
"Mum you are being really dramatic. I think you are watching those Italian soap operas a little too much,"
She just smiled. "I love you,"
I couldn't help but smile back "I love you too. Now go," I said.
She entered the car and drove off as me and my aunt waved at her.
"Let's go inside Lia," I nodded to my aunt as we both went back inside.
I immediately went straight to the room or my room, I guess.
Then I cried. I didn't know why I was crying, I never felt this sad. I was usually unemotional about this kind of stuff, but I still cried my heart out.
I was seriously going to miss my mum and there was this unsettling feeling at the pit of my stomach that I tried to ignore.
I was going to stay strong.
