Chapter 9

"I guess it was just... her. I bumped into her in the hallway and well... I don't know. Just something about her was different from everybody else." He admitted sheepishly.

Levi just stared at him. Then he burst out laughing. "Are you serious?" He laughed some more. "I'm sorry. But, you know, I thank you for changing her. She is a lot better now than she used to be." Levi confessed. "She would just answer me in tiny sentences, she never raised her voice, and then she started wearing that stupid nun hat and I thought I'd never have a good relationship with her." Levi bowed his head, but raised it back up to shake Logan's hand. "I thank you for that."

Logan smiled. At least he did something good, everybody always told him he never did anything good for anyone. He did something for Levi Lianne. Something that meant the world to him.

"MARY IF YOU DON'T GET YOUR-" Then Mary walked down the stairs. She wasn't wearing her cornette. Her black hair flowed freely down her back as she walked down the stairs. Logan felt his heart stop. "Hi Logan! I'm sorry I never mentioned my brother before." She said apologetically. He just kind of stared at her. "Logan?" She asked, her eyebrows furrowing in concern. He snapped himself out of his daze. "I-I've never s-seen you with y-your hair down." He said, scolding himself for stuttering, again. She giggled and his heart rate sped a thousand times a second. "Yeah, I guess I just got embarrassed about my hair, you know, it always has silly tangles in it." She sighed.

"And that whole 'wanting to be a nun' thing." She chuckled lightly. He nodded, gulping. "So, what do you want to do?" She asked. He smiled. "I've got just the thing."

They were in the clearing. "Eileen," he took a deep breath. "I really want to know something that's been bugging me." He told her. "What is it?" She asked, suddenly nervous.

"What am I to you?"

It might've been a douchey question, but it was bugging him. Like really bad.

"Well, I don't quite know, Logan." She furrowed her eyebrows in thought. "Because, you never act more than a friend. But... you make my heart go crazy. And whenever you dance with me, it's like- like I'm walking on sunshine." She said, not knowing she just quoted a song that Logan knew very well.

"When you look at me, it's like everything around us vanishes, and the world is at a stand-still, watching and waiting. Like the whole world is holding their breath, waiting for what is going to happen. Logan, you are so confusing. You've never provoked me in a way that could be seen as more than friends, but, I feel like we're more than just that. Logan, I don't know what you are to me." She said, staring at him right in his eyes the entire confession.

He just stared right back. Both of their cheeks turned a bright red. Something snapped inside of Logan. He loved this girl. And it was never going to go away. He suddenly had an urge to pull her close and never let go. But what if she hurt him just as everyone did? Pushed him away like he was nothing? He wanted her so bad but he still wasn't quite sure if she felt the same.

"Eileen, do you love me?" He asked her, taking a leap of faith, just as his mom said. It was never going to happen unless he did something about it. Her face somehow managed to heat up even more. "L-Logan, I want to be a n-nun, I h-have to stay dedicated." She tried to stay firm, but her voice was disagreeing with her. "Eileen, do you love me?" He asked again, a little more forceful. "L-Logan, I-" She just stared at him as he stared right back, his stare intense. "L-Logan, I d-don't know." He looked away from her. "Great because I love you." He stated.

He placed his speaker down and turned on a song, then walked out of the clearing, never looking back. He did what he had to do.
