Chapter Twenty Six: Sing Away

We all regrouped at the Super Star Lanes - which was a bowling ally. We all sat around a lane, all of us wearing blowing shoes as the staff wouldn't permit us onto a lane. There was chatter as there was a party the lane to our right, as I could hear the pins fall down. I was sat to the left of Five, as Allison and Luther were sat to my left, and to my right was Klaus and Diego on separate seats.

"Look, I hate to be the one to say this, but everyone needs to prepare," Luther spoke up from the dead silence.

"For what?" Diego rose his gaze to Luther.

"To do whatever it takes to stop Vanya," Luther replied quickly and a bit cold, as Allison leans over and hits him in the arm, as she couldn't speak. "I--" Luther cuts himself off and sighs. "We may not have a choice, Allison," he counters as that was wrong.

"Bullshit," I announce catching everyone off guard at my comment.

"There's always options," Diego added to the conversation.

"Yeah, like what?" Five counters as I see Klaus opening the newspaper and began to read what was inside. But Diego stayed quiet as he was thinking, as I could see the cogs turning.

"I don't know," he spoke the truth no idea what to do right now.

"Look, whatever we decide, we need to find Vanya and fast, ok? She could be anywhere," Luther spoke raising from the seat as his eyes flicked between us all.

"Or... Here," Klaus spoke shaking the newspaper a bit. "Look at this," he spoke leaning forward and opening the newspaper for us all to see. Allison and Luther came around the back to stare at the newspaper.

"That's right. Her concert is tonight," Diego said as there was an advertisement in the paper with Vanya's face and violin as she was playing tonight.

"Hello," a females voice rang out behind Diego who was standing. "I hate to intrude, but my manger says if you're not gonna bowl, you gotta leave," she spoke shrugging as her arms came out, before turning around.

"Whose turn is it?" Diego asks, as I had no idea who it was.

"Oh for-" Luther cuts himself off as he reaches down and grabs a pink bowling ball, and throws it to the left, not even looking at where he threw it. The ball bounces between the lanes, and soon hit the pins, knocking them all down. That was impressive... Just then the tapping of a pen hitting a pad came to ear making me look to see Allison pointing her pad at Luther. 'She our Sister' was written.

"We're the only ones capable of stopping this. We have a responsibility to Dad,"

"To Dad?!" Diego raised his voice spinning around to face Luther. "No, I've heard enough about-"

"He sacrificed everything to bring us back together," Luther cuts off Diego before he could finish what he was going to say.

"I'm with Luther on this one," Five states, leaning on his knees to stare at Luther. "We can't give her a chance to fight back. There are billions of lives at stake. We're past trying to save just one," Five states, and I know that, but still she's our sister.

"Hey, you know, guys, uh... maybe I could help," Klaus offers his assistance as he wanted to help us, but this was Klaus.

"Now is not the time," Luther spoke.

"No, let him finish," Diego spoke straight off the back of Luther, as he looks at him with a confused expression. "He saved my life today," Diego told him the truth as I remember them.

"Is that true?" Luther questioned.

"Yeah, yeah, I did... take credit for it. In fact, the real hero... was Ben," Klaus states to us all, but I frown at him as my eyebrows knitted together. We all remained deadly silent, as I guess we all held our disbelief about that right now. "Today... listen. Today, he punches me in the face. And earlier at the house, he was the one who saved Diego's life, not me," Klaus explained coming over to Diego and pointed at him, but he seemed convinced.

"You are unbelievable, Klaus,"

"You want proof, is that it?" Klaus questioned us as I lent back in my seat and folded my arms over as he picks up a blowing ball. "All right. I-- I'll give you proof. All right, it's showtime, baby," Klaus rubs the ball for a moment, readying himself, before he throws the ball into the air. Five moves to the left and into me, as he didn't want to get hit by the ball. The ball crashes to the ground and bounces for a moment as Klaus places his hands onto the back of his head, looking sheepishly.

"Is there anyway to silence that voice in your head that screams out to be the centre of attention?" Luther spoke annoyed at Klaus right now.

"You know, I liked you a lot better before you got laid," Klaus remarks, just letting his thoughts flow. My eyes widen in surprise as Luther lost his Virginity. "Which was complete... It-- it wasn't his fault, 'cause he was ridiculously high, right?" Klaus rambles out as he was trying to make the situation better. "And -- And the girl, she thought he was a furry,"

"Stop!" Luther states as he slowly turned widen eyes to Allison, but I see her grab her pad and walk away. "Alison, wait," Luther walks after Allison trying to sort this out.

"He was twenty-nine and a virgin," I questioned as my gaze went to Klaus and Diego, as they smirked at my comment.

"Excuse me," a women's voice came into play, making me cock my gaze to see a red haired large woman come over with her son. "Excuse me, it's my son Kenny's birthday today, and uh... wouldn't your son be happier playing with kids his own age... Assuming it's ok with your dads," she spoke her eyes on Five before going to Diego and Klaus, like was I invisible to her. But I don't think she wanted to stereotype the situation. I couldn't help but chuckle at the situation as I turned my head slightly as I didn't want her to see.

"I would rather chew off my own foot," Five exclaims to the woman as I see Klaus and Diego stunned. The woman said something, but I blocked her out as Five stood from the seat and wondered to another lane.

"If I was going to date a man, you'd be the last man I would date," Diego spoke as Klaus stood up and picked a ball, as it was his turn.

"You'd be lucky to get me," he remarked as I chuckled again, as he throws the ball down the lane.

"And you'll both be miserable," I announce to them both, as a smirk came to my face just thinking about them being a couple. "I'm off to get a drink," I told Diego as he stood and took his turn. I stood to my feet and headed over to the counter as the manger was managing it. I offered a smile to him, looking at a menu.

"Excuse me, Miss," the woman's voice from behind came ringing out, making me spin around to face her as she wore a warm smile. "Are you Gwen Miller?" She asks, as I swiftly nodded my head to her.

"Yes I am," I state to her. "Do I know you?" I questioned raising my arched eyebrow at her.

"No," she replied with a chuckle, waving her hand down at me. "I've seen you perform at the Blossom, and I was wondering if you could sing a song for my Son's birthday?" She asked so kindly, and with a warm smile. I couldn't say no, but how I feel and what I've lost, I think my talent for singing was just keeping me together.

"Yeah, sure," I announce to the woman as her smile widened as she was happy.

"Tell him what song you have in mind, and come over when you're ready," she states nodding her head to the manager, as there was a DJ booth nearby. I smiled and turned around to face him, as I had a song in mind.

"Reflection, Mulan," I state to the man as he nodded his head and began to mess with the DJ booth before coming back over to me with a wireless mic, handing it to me.

"Nod to me when you need to start," he spoke kind of grumpy as I just simply nodded to him and kept the grip of the mic in my hand and headed over to the party littered with a few kids and parents.

"Here she is," the woman announces to her children as I reach their lane with a smile. "Children this is Gwen Miller she is a professional singer, and she's going to sing for my Kenny," she spoke as she loved her child deeply, like any mother would do.

"Happy Birthday Kenny, and I hope you enjoy the song," I said with a warm smile, my head turned over my shoulder and nodded to the manager. The music to the song began to play, as I held the mic arm length and swayed slightly with the rhyme of the song.

"Look at me I will never pass as a perfect bride, or a perfect daughter. Can it be, I'm not meant to play this part. Now I see that if I were truly to be myself, I would break my family's heart," I began to sing my heart and soul into the first verse, my voice soaring through the mic and rang out through the speakers. My vocals were angelic and powerful. "Who is that girl I see, staring straight, back at me. Why is my reflection someone I don't know. Somehow I cannot hide, who I am, though I've tried. When will my reflection show who I am inside," I held out the long note of 'inside', feeling my arms prickle with Goosebumps. "When will my reflection show, who I am inside" I held the note once again, as the music started to fade out, as a smile came to my face, the mic lowering from my lips. The children and the parents began to clap and let out cheers of enjoyment. But I could hear clapping come from behind me, I turned my head around to see Diego and Klaus wide eyed, mouths hung agape and clapping.

"Gwenie!" Klaus exclaims as he jumps his way over to me. "You didn't tell me you sing like that!" He exclaims once again, having no clue I sang like an angel. "God, it was nothing like this when you started!" He went on with the same energy he always has, as the cheering and clapping stopped around me. He wraps his arms around me and began to jump around in the circle, happy.

"Thanks," I chuckle through the word, as we came fully circle as he pulls back. Diego now stood an inch behind Klaus as he wore an impressed expression on his face.

"Great job," he replied in his deep toned voice as I offered a warm smile.

"Thank you guys!" I was pleased as it meant a lot to hear their comments on my singing. It warmed my heart as the world might end, at least I was closer with my family...
