Chapter Seven: Simon

*Six Years Ago*

The restaurant was currently dead, it was night time and only a couple was left in a booth, finishing their drinks. Gwen took their finish glasses that were left on the table away, with a sweet smile. She waltz away from the table, as the glasses clatter together slightly but she reaches the kitchen in no time and places them on the counter, as the kitchen staff had all gone home and she was on the night shift and locked up.

Gwen has been working in the restaurant for over two years now, strangely enough she enjoyed it, she enjoyed the families that come, the people she works with, though it wasn't her dream job, it got her by. She even was trusted enough by the manager to close up the restaurant and take on more responsibility.

"Gwen," a deep husky voice pierced her eyes, making her swiftly turn on the stop to be faced with a handsome young waiter - who started working three months ago. They got along quite well and soon became friends.

"What do you need, Simon?" She asks with a smile on her face, as he was still new to the waiter side of things. Simon was very handsome, he had a stubble beard which suited him well, his hair was slick back, but in the light he was blonde but the roots were black. His facial features were sculptured to the Gods.

"They left, so we can close up," he announced, making Gwen smile softly, as she was pleased as they could go home a bit earlier than expected. She left the kitchen and headed across the marble flooring of the restaurant and to the front door, turning the sign over to close and getting the keys from her apron. With a jiggle from the multiple keys she had, the door was locked and they could begin to clean up. Simon had already got the mop and bucket out, and started on cleaning the floor as they only had to do the restaurant floor.

"Literally a star employee," Gwen states as a smile crept on her face. She began to go around the restaurant and push under the chairs of the tables, and began wiping them down.

"Had a best teacher," he replies with a boyish grin, making Gwen laugh a little too loud for her own good. "No, I mean it. You've really helped me and I appreciate it," Simon stopped what he was doing and looked up to her, as Gwen wondered back to him as she was blushing.

"You were a good student," she remarked cracking a giggle, making Simon chuckle softly. Both of them stared at one another longingly, Gwen had felt this attraction to him and surely he felt the same. Their smiles faded as it was replaced with desire and a lust attraction. Simon puts the mop in it's hold as he took a few steps closer to Gwen, their eyes never leaving one another, she could hear her heart beat rapidly. Simon closed the gap now between them, their eyes still not looking away from one another. He began to lean in, his gaze flickered between her lips and her eyes.

Suddenly, a smashing sound came to bother their ears, both snapping their heads to the right to see the glass falling inside the restaurant. Simon and Gwen's eyes widen in shock to see two masked men - wearing ski masks entering the restaurant with handguns, pointing straight at them.

"Other there now!" The first man who entered waved his gun in the direction of the counter where lays the till. Simon reacted by grabbing Gwen's shoulders and guided her to the front of the counter. The masked man follows them as he pushes them both down to the floor, but Simon keeps a hold of Gwen to protect her.

"Get the cash, I'll watch these," the other man spoke pointing his gun at them. Tension was high, and everything was moving so fast for them both. But Gwen wasn't scared, she had been in these situations before as a child, her father training did her good. "Pretty thing you are," the robber said, coming forward staring her up and down.

"Stay away from her," Simon spoke, standing up from the floor, but the robber swirls the butt of the gun around and hits Simon in the head fast, making him fall to the ground grunting in pain.

"Shut up!" He yells at Simon, as crimson blood dripped from his temple as a gash formed. Gwen remained calm, but she was worried for Simon at this moment in time.

"Leave him be," Gwen's voice was threatening and demanding as her gaze was deadly. But the robber just snickers at her comment, as he didn't believe her threat.

"Yeah, what are you going to do?" The man questioned Gwen and grabbed her by the scruff of her hem of the uniform. "You just a stupid, slut," he threw Gwen across the the room, making her crash into a table. Gwen wasn't a stranger to being thrown around, or getting hit here and there. Growing up in the Academy taught her to fight and to take punches. Before Gwen could get a chance to turn around, she was grabbed by the hair and ragged backwards as she grips the man's hand. "Going to make you my bitch," he spoke creepily, making Gwen's skin crawl, but she lets out a chuckle.

"No. I'm going to make you bleed," She spoke and without warning, Gwen used her strength and swung her head back, hitting the robber right in the nose. He stumbled back in shock and freed Gwen from his hold as he held a hand to his nose. Gwen spun around to see the guy bleeding through the mask.

"Bitch!" He screams at her but he was also in pain. He was quick and struck Gwen in the face, but she took it like a man as she felt blood drip down her bottom lip. Before the man could advance, she right hooks him and hits him square in the face. He flew in the air for a moment and came crashing down on a table, breaking it. He groans out in pain, as the table creaked under his weight. She was thankful for her powers right now...

"Stop or he dies," the other man spoke with a raised voice, as he held Simon by the nape and pointed his handgun at him. Gwen held her hands up, showing him that she wouldn't advance as she felt the blood run down her lip. "Die bitch," he spoke, quickly pointing the gun at Gwen and pulling the trigger. Quick as a flash, Gwen put her hands up and the room froze, everyone in it came to a stand, the clock stopped ticking, the hum from the fridges stopped. Gwen could see the bullet inches from her, her reflexes were good. She walks forward and grabs the bullet from the air as it unfroze at her touch. She walks over to Simon and the robber, she begins to peel the robbers fingers from Simon's nape, and soon freed from the hold. Gwen uses her back hand to hit Simon's chest slightly, he then becomes unfroze, his eyes widened in shock.

"No time, go to the kitchen, phone the police. I'll explain later!" Gwen urged him to go call, her eyes pleading. He took a moment to gather himself, and nods his head before running around the counter, and to the kitchen. Gwen goes back over to the frozen robber, chuckling to herself as they choose the wrong restaurant to rob. Gwen's hand went into a fist and she springs her hand into action and hits the robber right in the face and the room unfroze at the punch, he went flying across the room and landed on the other man with a thud. Both grunting in pain as they had their ass whooped.

Simon came rushing back in to see the men dazed on each other, and wouldn't be getting up anytime soon. Gwen took her gaze to Simon, to see him staring but she quickly removed her gaze from him as she couldn't bear to look...

.................

The police arrived in no time and took the men away, they were lucky to be alive. If it wasn't for Gwen's ability to fight or her powers, they could have ended up dead. Police were over the scene getting statements from Simon and Gwen. Gwen told them that she fought the attackers and saved her friend from any harm. She didn't mention that she used her powers as she didn't want to draw any attention to herself.

Gwen sat on the bar stool, a blanket wrapped around her shoulders, as she saw Simon giving his statement, but soon finished. He walks softly over to Gwen with his own blanket around him, quietly plonking himself on the free stool to her left. He had a bandage stuck to his left temple as it was already stained with blood. The air between them was quiet and full of awkwardness as she didn't want to meet his gaze. Gwen took a sigh as she knows she needs to explain what the hell just happened.

"I imagine you want to know what happened?" Gwen finally questioned, bringing her head to the left, meeting Simon's gaze. All he could do was stare at her, wanting for her to explain more. "My name is Guinevere Hargreeves, I was the eighth member in the Umbrella Academy," she began, Simon's eyes widened in surprise.

"Your Molecular Girl," Simon breathed out, as she nodded her head. They were given names by fans when they were children, and hers was Molecular Girl as her powers had to do with one's molecules.

"I changed my last name as I didn't want my Father's name and the frame that goes with it," Gwen continued rubbing her hands together. "I started fresh and built myself up, but you cannot forget where you came from nor the past," she explained, her gaze drifting from Simon. He removes his hand from under his blanket, and reaches over to Gwen and places it on hers, she felt it through the blanket.

"But you can focus on your future," he spoke with a smile, making Gwen smile at him. Simon wasn't like any other man Gwen had met, he was kind, and very easy to talk too. In time he will become special to her...

..........

By the time Gwen relived the memory, her hot chocolate was drunk and she was still sitting alone, silence was her only friend at the moment. Gwen sighs deeply, her eyes moving from the wide length window of the coffee shop. Gwen stood from the seat, and headed to the door. The bell rang as she opened it, and stepped into the cold air, and headed back to the house. Gwen imagined she would need to face Allison and Luther. But she wasn't going to talk about her past...
