On Olympus:

"Percy, I have a request of you" Artemis said as her Guardian walked into the throne room

Percy looked around and noticed that only the gods were in the throne room, no guardians except for Phoenix and himself were present.

"Of course, Arty, what do you need?" Percy said as he walked over to Artemis' throne and kneeled in front of it

"There is a monster that I need you to hunt" Artemis said and Percy tilted his head

"Why am I needed for this?" He asked

"Because this monster is located in Egypt, a place where our influence no longer resides. But as you are not a god you would not be affected by this." Artemis said and Percy nodded "And besides, you haven't hunted a beast this large for years, you could use the practice" Artemis finished playfully

"Of course, I will leave as soon as possible" He said "But I hope you know that you can't get rid of me that easily" Percy said with a smirk as he stood up and bowed his head slightly

"Thank you Percy" Artemis said warmly as Phoenix walked over and put a hand on Percy's shoulder before flame traveling away

Percy's POV:

When Phoenix flame traveled, I prepared myself for the heat of the Egyptian Desert but when we appeared I felt a huge heat wave hit me full force.

'Holy hell' Instinct said as he felt the heat

"Someone turn on the air conditioning" I complained as I looked around and saw nothing but sand

"I mean, I would ask chaos but the mortals would be very very concerned if Egypt suddenly became a paradise" Phoenix said "Well, Good Luck" He said cheerily before flame traveling away

"You Ass!" I yelled at the fire

'I knew he wouldn't stick around long, come on, lets get moving before we die of over heating' Iota said and I rolled my eyes

'I could always have you two fan my face while we trek through the desert' I mused mentally and I heard both Iota and Instinct growl causing me to laugh as I threw my hood over my head to give me some shade

I started walking through the hot desert, not knowing where to really go. What seemed like hours later, I got to the top of a sand dune and saw three Pyramids.

'FINALLY!! Something interesting! Let's go exploring!' Instinct yelled and I rolled my eyes as I spotted three people walking my way

'Heads up, we got company' I said and I felt Iota and Instinct raise their guard

As I look at the three people walking I notice one of them holding a weird shaped sword and the other two holding boomerang like items.

I activate my armor and look at the three as they come closer.

"Who are you, and why do you trespass in the first Nome?" The middle guy said

He sounded like a middle aged man and his voice held some power behind it.

"Names have power, so I will only tell you mine if you tell me yours and lower your weapons whatever they may be" I say making sure to hide any power in my voice

The man laughs along with his companions.

"Sir, I don't think you realize that we outnumber you. So tell us your name or we will consider you an agent of Chaos and if that happens, well... you don't want to know" The dented sword person said and I rolled my eyes

"Yeah, and it's still unfair even with you out numbering me. Or at least, that's what you think. Now can we please just talk in peace? I am looking for a monster, have you seen anything?" I ask and I can tell they are getting angry due to the aura of power coming from them

"You work for Apep! You work for Chaos" the last person, who sounded like a woman, said as she brandished her boomerang and chanted slightly

Suddenly a symbol appeared and a fire ball shot out. I dived to the side and sighed as I grabbed my canister of mace and turned it into my spear as I summoned my shield.

"Can't I go one day without fighting someone?" I say aloud as the three took a step back at my weapons

"Who are you?" The middle man said

"Amos! Enough talk, he is an Agent of Apep, and must be killed" the other man said as he chanted and a large blue image of a man with an animal head appeared and held the same style sword

"Who in the name of Chaos' pretty pink frilly underwear is Apep?" I ask aloud and I felt the air grow colder "Oh lighten up Chaos, we all know you have a pair" I say and the air turns back to normal

At that moment, the giant blue warrior swung it's sword down and I was forced to raise my shield and stop its attack cold.

"Hey! It's not nice to interrupt people when they are having a conversation" I growl as I push back the blue blade much to the shock of all three people

'You idiots, we are in Egypt, Chaos taught us about Egyptian gods, briefly I'll admit but he did. That animal headed thing is Horus, and these must be the magicians he told us about' Iota explained and Instinct and I gave an 'Oh' expression

I roll to the side as a whip of fire snaps at the spot where I just was.

"I am getting tired of this, let's just all talk peacefully before you force my hand..." I say darkly as I block another attack from the blue Horus

"Submit mortal!" Amos said as he drew a symbol in the air and a massive sandstorm hit "I am the host of Set, Chief lector and most powerful magician in the world" Amos finished as I blocked the sandstorm but the Horus figure landed a hit on my side, throwing me to the ground

'"ENOUGH!"' I yelled in a double voice as Instinct and Iota merged with me and I felt power course through my body

I willed my spear and shield away as I used moonlit step to avoid another attack from the blue god. I then willed Lunar's light into my hand before putting it my left hand as I pulled Riptide out and uncapped the bronze blade.

'"INSTINCT, IOTA'" I yelled and they both appeared Iota with my shield and spear and Instinct with my daggers

"What the..." the boy who was controlling the blue god said as the storm increased in power but it hardly affected me

"You have forced my hand" Instinct, Iota, and I said in sync

Carter's POV:

Today wasn't the best day. I had learned that somehow Apep came back and was free to cause havoc and destruction. I traveled to Egypt to find uncle Amos to see him arguing with someone. Knowing it wasn't my place I waited out of ear shot where Zia came around the corner and quickly wrapped me in a hug.

"Carter! How are you doing?" Zia said as she pulled back and I smiled

"I could be doing better but I'll be alright, you hear the news?" I said and she nodded solemnly

"Yeah, that's why Amos is in an argument" Zia said and I tilted my head "Apparently no one knows how he came back and some are pointing fingers at Amos since he is hosting Set. The good news is that the gods are back, but I doubt well be able to pull off what we did last time"

At that moment Amos walked out of the room he was in and saw me. He rushed over and hugged me then pulled back.

"Carter, why are you here?" Amos asked and I smiled sadly "It's about Apep isn't it?" I nod and he sighs "Come, I can explain the situation to you on the way. Zia, you should come too"

"Where are we going?" I ask and he shrugs

"Middle of the desert, there seems to have been a power burst there and" He starts but Zia cuts him off

"You think Apep could have been the one to cause that power" She said and Amos nods

"Well let's go" I said eagerly and he chuckled before leading us out and to where the power burst was

After two hours we reached a sand dune and I saw someone at the top. I pulled my Khopesh from the duat and I saw the person at the top of the sand dune become shiny.

"What the hell?" I asked

"Maybe they are working for Apep" Zia said and I nodded making sure to be ready for anything

We got closer and Amos stepped forward. They talked for a bit, with Zia and myself yelling at him for being an agent of Chaos. Zia then threw a fireball and I summoned my combat avatar, and then everything went downhill.

My first attack was stopped cold which caused me to stare slightly. Amos then called on Set and created a sandstorm that was sure to distract him. I swung towards the man's side and knocked him down and I smiled until he got up.

"'ENOUGH'" he yelled in a strange double voice as his weapons were replaced by a curved blade made out of a pure silver and a leaf shaped bronze blade

Then two copies of himself appeared as his eyes flashed a brilliant silver and glowed the same color.

"You have forced my hand" the three figures said in sync and I knew we had our work cut out for us

They all surged forward with a speed I thought was impossible. One headed towards my combat avatar and I swung down only to have the blade parried before the figure jumped up and onto the blue avatar. He started hacking and slashing as I tried to grab him and throw him off but to no avail. Suddenly I heard a cry of pain and I looked over to see a spear in Zia's shoulder as she fell back and onto the sand.

"ZIA!!!" I yelled as I fell to my knees as my combat avatar gave out due to me losing concentration and I felt a dagger at the back of my neck as I watched the middle figure take on Amos

Amos was blocking the attacks by the man with the power of Set, but I could tell he was tiring.

"Carter!" I heard a familiar and comforting sound of an old friend who looked after us in the form a house cat

"Instinct, Iota, to me!" the man said and the two beings disappeared as Bast ran up to him with knives and started to attack him, forcing him away from Amos

The man jumps back and quickly switches out his swords for daggers and re-engages Bast. I get up and stumble over to Zia who is holding her shoulder in pain.

"Who is he?" I asked and Zia shook her head

"I don't know, but he is powerful, to be able to split himself up... I don't understand... it doesn't make sense" Zia said and I nodded

"He must be a god, or a servant of Apep" Amos said as we all turned toward Bast to see her get kicked away

"ALL I WANTED, WAS A PEACEFUL TALK, BUT NOOO, YOU ALL HAD TO PISS ME OFF" the man growled in anger as he stalked forward "Now, I will give you one last chance, we can talk peacefully and you can keep your lives, or you can die, because either way, I will end up finding my prey for I am the hunter" He said and I stood up and held up my Khopesh and he crouched down ready to attack

I dropped my sword and he smirked as his eyes turned back to normal as he sheathed his daggers and flopped down onto the sand looking tired.

"Wasn't so hard was it?" He asked and I sighed

"Whatever, I'm Carter Kane" I said and he nodded

"Percy Jackson, Guardian and love of the moon, Son of Poseidon" He said and I stared at him

"Wait... you're Greek?" Bast asked and he nodded

"Yup, but not just any Greek, I am the guardian of the Moon, trained by Chaos, the creator of the universe and all that jazz" he said like it was worthless information

"So you're not Apep's servant?" Zia asked as Amos helped her up

"No, I am not a servant to Chaos' pet snake, I mean honestly, I told him to find it and cage it up before it caused any havoc but does he listen to me? Nope" He said as he stood up and walked over "Sorry about attacking so hard though, when you're a guardian, you learn to subdue your opponents so they are no longer a threat

"You are highly skilled, able to take on a goddess" Amos said and he chuckled

"Mate, I've taken on giants three times her size and a beast thirty times the size of blue Horus" he said and my mouth dropped open "But, that is a story for another time, now, about Apep, I have been tasked by my gods to take him out. Do any of you know where he is or am I going to have to start digging?" He asked humorously

"We don't know where he is, but if you'll follow us, we can get you to a place of operations so you can start your hunt" Amos said and Percy smiled

"Thank you, and again I am sorry about hurting your friend" he said to me and I shook my head

"We will get her patched up, but do you even know what your hunting?" I asked and he looked at me

"You want the truth?" He asked and I nodded "I don't all I know is that its dangerous and that Artemis cant interfere, now I remember why. The Egyptian gods reside here just how the Greek gods reside in Manhattan but they are able to visit Greece or Rome anytime they want as that's where they used to live" Percy explained and I nodded

"Anyway, lets get back to the first Nome, we might be able to help" Amos said and Percy sighed

"Yay... more walking!" He said sarcastically

'Well, this day cant get any worse' I thought to myself
