5.0 It's Disgusting

Lily Owens sat in her first class of the day at the empty table behind Bloom and Aisha. She stared down at her phone, watching as a bubble appeared next to Riven's name, meaning he was typing. She smiled, waiting to see what he wanted to say. "Hi, I'm Beatrix. Can I sit here?" Lily looked up to see the girl with the electrical powers sit down next to her.

She nodded, turning her phone off and setting it on the desk. "Yeah, I'm Lily."

"I know." Beatrix chuckled. "You're Riven's ex-girlfriend." Lily rolled her eyes, scared for how this conversation was going to go.

"Yup, that's me." Lily felt her phone vibrate and quickly picked it up, seeing the text from Riven.

Hope today goes better than yesterday. If you need someone to talk to I'm always here. You know that.

Lily smiled, rereading the text a few times.

Thank you, Riv. I appreciate you.

As soon as Lily's text sent, Miss Dowling came by the girl's desk and set a small tree in front of Lily and a plate of uncooked rice in front of Beatrix. Lily stared down at the pot in front of her before Miss Dowling approached her and Beatrix's table. "Lily, can you grow this dying leaf here," The headmistress pointed to a leaf growing on one of the branches of the tree, "without affecting any of the others?"

"Got it." Lily nodded, her hands rising above the suffering leaf. She twisted one of her wrists, and a green light ran from the tips of her fingers to the leaf.

The leaf began to grow, becoming much stronger than it was before, leaving the other leaves dying. "Very nicely done." The headmistress applauded her student before moving to Bloom and Aisha's desk.

"A fire that lays waste to everything in its path is instinctual and impulsive. What about when you need that fire to stop." Lily looked up from her pot as Miss Dowling spoke to Bloom. "Can you light a single piece of kindling and leave the others untouched?" Bloom nodded slowly before moving her hands around the kindling. She took in a deep breath before the single piece of wood at the top of the pile lit up while the ones beneath it did not.

A smile appeared on Bloom's face as Beatrix leaned towards Lily. "Watch this?" The girl stared down at the many pieces of rice. Lightening flew from her hands, lifting a single piece into the air.

"Impressive, Beatrix. Keep it up." Miss Dowling spoke, walking past their table.

Beatrix nodded. "Got it, Miss D." Miss Dowling stopped walking immediately after hearing the nickname. "Headmistress Dowling." The air fairy corrected herself. As soon as the headmistress was far enough away, Beatrix leaned forwards, rolling her eyes. "Your Grace..." She mumbled, causing Lily to chuckle.

"You're funny, Beatrix." Lily smiled, sending an olive branch to the girl.

"Riven seems to think so."

The olive branch was snapped in half and ran over with a car before being thrown into a whirlpool.

Miss Dowling appeared in front of Aisha, clearing her throat. "Yes. Control." Aisha sighed, her hands lifting about the bowl of water in front of her. "I get the idea. I mean... I can do this."

A large sphere of water flew up from inside the bowl. "Good, Aisha. However..." The headmistress clicked her tongue before continuing. "A single body of water, a mass of water, is persistent and reliable. Consider the individual elements that combine to form the whole." She moved behind the water fairy, her eyes beginning to glow blue. "A single drop of water is unpredictable." A smaller sphere moved from the larger one. "Vague. Amorphous. Can you isolate it? Can you maintain that which fights form?"

Aisha nodded before beginning to draw another smaller ball from within the bigger one, but as soon as one appeared, all of the water fell back into the bowl, splashing Bloom, Aisha, and the headmistress. "Something yet to be learned. That's all for today." Miss Dowling walked towards the front of the class as Lily began to pack up her bag.

As Lily made her way through the cafeteria after grabbing a tray of peanut butter and jelly, she noticed Riven and Beatrix walk by. Riven placed an apple in his mouth, and Beatrix took a bite of it, causing Lily to frown. When Beatrix noticed her, she smiled, sending her a quick wink. "Hey, Lil."

"Hi." Lily knew the look on her face was giving away her clear discomfort. She wanted to beat the redheaded girl up.

What the fuck was their problem.

Lily returned before rushing off to where Musa and Bloom were seated. "They were fucking sharing an apple. It's disgusting." The girl groaned, slamming her lunch tray down on the table.

Musa looked up and furrowed her eyebrows. "Who were?" She questioned her friend.

Lily rolled her eyes as she sat down. "Riven and Beatrix."

"I get it. You're jealous. It's cute, Lily." Musa giggled, sending Bloom a sarcastic smile.

"I'm not jealous." The girl scoffed, her arms crossing over her chest. "I broke up with him, remember?"

The mind fairy laughed, leaning towards Lily. "You forget that I can see your emotions. You're jealous."

"You suck." Lily frowned, sulking into her seat. Musa let out a chuckle, her arm wrapping around the girl, pulling her against her.

Bloom lifted her coffee cup. "It's so strange not seeing Aisha get something right." The red-head spoke, changing the subject.

Musa nodded, her eyes glowing purple. "Agreed. Not sure why that makes you feel so obnoxiously guilty though."

Lily leaned her head back. "Stop telling everyone how we're feeling!" She laughed.

"Aisha's tired." Bloom frowned. "My parents think that Alfea's in Switzerland they Skype me at 9:00 AM Switzerland time every morning-"

"It's 2:00 AM our time." Lily finished Bloom's sentence, causing the girl's eyes to widen.

Musa leaned her chin against her hand, nodding. "Yeah, we can all hear you."

"Am I being loud?" Bloom questioned her friends. "I'm trying to be quiet."

"Like an old lady unwrapping sweets in the cinema." Musa chuckled, sharing a look with Lily. "But we're doing fine in school," she motioned between the two of them, "and so is Terra."

Musa's eyes began to glow as Lily saw her cousin, Sam, walk by. "Wait a minute here." Lily's eyes widened in realization. "You like Sam?" She exclaimed, causing Musa to shush her.

Musa shook her head, her hands going into the air. "You cannot tell anyone, especially not Ter-"

As soon as Musa began to say her name, Terra sat down at the head of the table. "I have a question. Since when was it cool to be a nerd?" She asked the three other fairies. "I mean, don't get me wrong. It's great. Amazing. Power to the nerds!" She lifted her fist into the air on the last sentence. "But now it's cool to talk about fairy history?"

"What?" Bloom's eyebrows furrowed, confused as to what Terra was talking about.

Terra placed her hands in her lap before continuing. "Well, like, you know, I... I like school. I like getting good grades and reading alone with a cup of chamomile, but no one shares a frickin' apple with me, even though... gross." Lily let out a groan, slumping back into her chair again.

Lily nodded, beginning to understand. "So, this is about Beatrix?" Terra nodded.

The girl frowned, looking down at the table. "I don't get what the difference is between her and me." Lily noticed Musa's eyes begin to glow as Terra spoke. "Why is it working for her?" Lily looked back and saw Sam holding a banana, and motioning for Musa to follow him.

"Uh, actually, I have to go." Musa quickly stood up from the table. "Sorry."

Terra rolled her eyes before looking between Bloom and Lily. "It's okay. I know why, really. It's because she drinks and smokes and looks like her, and I'm..."

"Beautiful." Lily cut off her cousin, taking her hand in her own. "Any guy would be lucky to share an apple with you, Ter." Terra smiled.

She shook her head before looking at Bloom. "Sorry. Sorry. How are you? How is the search for the memory lady?" Bloom had a vision the night before about a woman when she was a baby. The woman had told her to find her.

Bloom shrugged. "Stalling." She answered as Terra brought her cup of iced tea to her lips. "Does your dad happen to have any old yearbooks?" She questioned.

"Oh, maybe." Terra nodded, setting her cup down. "Lily and I would have to get them ourselves, though. He's been so busy with Silva. I don't want to bother him."

"How is Silva?" Bloom leaned forwards on the table.

Lily let out a sigh. "We don't really know. Her dad's been quite down, so I really don't think that can be very good."

The redhead looked to the table, shaking her head. "I can't imagine how that must be for Sky. I know they were close." She quickly looked back up at the two cousins. "Have you seen him today? Sky?"

Lily made eye contact with Terra before she took Bloom's hand. "Bloom, Sky is such a great guy. Like, he's the best. He's one of my favorite boys in the world. But, Stella..." Bloom glanced towards Stella sitting at a table filled with upperclassmen.

She let out an awkward chuckle. "No... I'm... I'm just... I'm worried about him, guys." The fire fairy stuttered, obviously lying.

The earth fairy sat on the couch in the suite, staring down at the text she had received that morning from Riven. How could he go from that to sharing an apple with Beatrix? Lily would never understand boys. Her thoughts were interrupted by Terra yelling from inside the bathroom. "Does anyone know how to do a good cat eye?!"

Bloom and Aisha rushed out from their bedroom, seeing Lily in the community space. She joined the two girls as they peered into the bathroom, seeing Terra with smudged eyeliner all over her face. "Oh my goodness." Lily let out a gasp, her hand flying over her mouth to try and cover her giggles.

Terra threw her hands down as the three girls approached her. "I've done like fifty tutorials and this is what I get." She complained. "What does Huda Kattan have that I don't?"

Bloom sat Terra down as Aisha and Lily grabbed cotton pads and soaked them with makeup remover. "Talent." The water fairy answered.

"Taste." Bloom continued.

"Style." Aisha joked again.

"Millions of followers." Bloom finished.

Lily patted Bloom's back, wishing for them to shut up. "Alright, guys. I don't think she needs that right now."

Terra looked between the three fairies who stood above her and frowned. "Wait, why are none of you getting ready for the party?"

Her cousin sighed. "The senior specialist party is tonight?" Lily grumbled, m beginning to remove the makeup from underneath Terra's right eye as Aisha took the left eye. "Count me out. Do you guys remember the last time I got drunk in a near proximity to Riven?" Aisha nodded, and Bloom let out a snort, Aisha shoving her.

"I've got to study." Aisha answered.

"I've got this full on-"

Terra quickly cut Bloom off. "Cool, I don't care. You must come!" This caused Lily to groan, leaning her head back. "I need full suite support." Someone knocked on the door, causing Terra's eyes to widen. "Is that Musa or Stella?" No one answered. "Musa or Stella?" Terra repeated, but much louder. One option was definitely better than the other.

Musa walked into the bathroom, her eyebrows furrowing at the sight of three girls fixing Terra's makeup. "Well, this is weird." She joked, causing Lily to chuckle.

"Get dressed! We have to go. We're going to go to the party." Terra exclaimed as Lily and Aisha continued to remove her makeup. "We're going to show everybody that we're cool, and... and fun.. and-"

The mind fairy smirked. "Hot?"

Lily patted Terra's head, meaning that her makeup was done. Terra stood up and looked into the mirror. She smiled, seeing what a beautiful job the girls had done, and her friends hugged her.
