㉞Thank You
The day had come almost after four months. The five boys were graduating.
They were already at school, waiting for the ceremony to begin. All whispers quieted down when the teachers walked in with the principal.
Jeongguk made eye contact with Taehyung then. He was extremely gorgeous with his black suit and silver hair. He found himself staring at him in depth, a small smile decorating his lips, as the man he admired and cherished the most was walking towards his seat.
Taehyung, of course, noticed him and couldn't help but stare too. He returned the smile and gave him a subtle wink that left the younger blushing and getting shy real quick.
Even after four months, Jeongguk was getting shy sometimes with him. He couldn't help it. Although he was giving compliments to him almost every day, he still wasn't used to it. He still wasn't used to Taehyung's flirty side.
"You're blushing," Jimin whispered in a sing-song tone.
"Look at him. How can I not? He even winked at me," Jeongguk murmured as he continued playing with his hands timidly.
"So cute," Seokjin cooed, making everyone chuckle faintly.
"I swear, he's so perfect, so amazing, I love him."
Four pairs of eyes enlarged in unison and darted in his direction. "You what?" Namjoon questioned a little louder than he should, earning a few glances of those around them.
"Nothing, I said nothing," Jeongguk mumbled in haste and ducked his head.
"Have you said that to him?" Seokjin asked, still surprised by his words.
"No, of course not. It just came out. I don't know why."
"If it just came out, it means you do love him," Jimin stated with a shrug.
"But it's still early to say it, right? He would think I'm crazy."
"Crazy for him, yes." Jimin wiggled his brows teasingly.
"Please, 'I love you' is so overrated," Yoongi said, indifferent.
"That's why you haven't said it to any of us?" Namjoon snickered.
Yoongi glared at him and rolled his eyes. "Love you guys, there I said it, happy?"
Everyone gasped and stared at him open-mouthed. "I love you too," Jimin chirped as he threw an arm over his shoulders.
"We love you, Yoongi," Seokjin said with a broad smile.
"See? Totally overrated," Yoongi muttered as he wrapped a hesitant arm around Jimin's waist, making the boy freeze in his spot. He didn't question anything — he kept his own arm around his nape as Yoongi held his waist tightly, and all of them focused their attention on the stage where the principal just went up to.
He greeted everyone and said a few things before giving the mic to someone else. Once everyone finished talking, all of the students went to the stage and waited for their diplomas.
Taehyung stared at Jeongguk fondly as he felt throughout proud of him. He couldn't stop cooing mentally at how cute he was with his cheeks and ears glowing a reddish color when it was his turn. He was sitting in the front row and he could clearly discern how embarrassed he was when the attention was on him. To his eyes, though, he was nothing but adorable.
After everyone got their diplomas, they headed to the graduation party. They danced for quite a while and had a good time, but it was a bummer that they couldn't drink alcohol.
"Okay, we've been here for an hour or something, can't we just go now? It's not a real graduation party without booze, guys," Jimin whined with a pout.
"Second that," Yoongi said.
"I'll go find Tae and Hoseokie hyung and I'll find you outside," Jeongguk said, and when the others nodded, he pivoted on his heel. He searched around the place but couldn't spot them, so he decided to go to the teacher's lounge. As he was ready to turn right in a hallway, he heard some muffled chatter and stopped in his tracks.
"Tae, you know it's crazy, right?"
"Why?"
"Because it is. What if he freaks out? What if he's not ready?"
What the hell are they talking about?
"Well, I won't know if I don't ask, hyung."
"Are you ready?"
"I don't know. It's a little scary, but I want to."
Jeongguk composed his baffled face and stepped forward. "Guys, we're leaving."
The two boys jerked their heads in his direction, and Hoseok tittered for no apparent reason. "Hey, Kook. Why?"
"We want to drink real alcohol."
"My baby is growing up," Taehyung teased as he approached him and muffled him into his hug.
"Your baby is already a big boy so shut it," Jeongguk hissed playfully as he ringed his waist with his arms.
"Yes, my beautiful baby boy."
"You're a dork, you know that, right?"
"Only for you."
"No, you guys are both dorks," Hoseok scoffed at their lovey-dovey behavior, but he erupted into chuckles when the others cracked up.
They met the other boys soon enough and split into the two cars. They stopped by a convenience store to buy drinks and snacks and drove off again to Taehyung's apartment.
Although it was still early, they put music on and began drinking blithely. The two older boys let them have a bottle of soju each only because of the special day, and they couldn't be happier.
After dancing and chatting for a while, one by one withered on the couch, exhausted.
"Shall we play some overwatch?" Hoseok suggested, and everyone agreed, whooping in excitement.
"Form pairs and whoever wins all of you will play with me," Jeongguk said.
Namjoon and Seokjin played the first matched, and it ended with Seokjin winning just barely. Next up was Jimin and Yoongi, and it ended with Jimin winning rather easily. Taehyung won the match with Hoseok, and all of them laughed their heads off as the boy grumbled and pouted by his loss.
In the next match, Jimin won Seokjin with ease, but he didn't have the same luck with his next opponent. He stomped his feet, completely annoyed, when he lost the game, and Taehyung shot him a smug smile only to add to his vexation.
"Don't worry, Jiminie, I'll wipe this little smile off his face real quick," Jeongguk sneered as he sat next to him.
"Oh, really, baby?" Taehyung asked with a sly smile. "Remember when I won not long ago?"
"It wasn't my good day. Don't get all cocky. You won once in these five months we know each other."
Taehyung huffed at his words and focused on the screen in front of him. It was intense from the start as both boys were fully immersed in the game. The others were cheering mostly for Taehyung since he was losing at the moment. The gap between their scores only got bigger as Jeongguk continued to have the lead in the game.
After some time, Taehyung grunted in frustration while Jeongguk threw his hands in the air, celebrating his glorious victory. The boys clapped for him and cheered as Taehyung rubbed his face, irritated.
"Is my baby mad?" Jeongguk asked in a baby voice, clearly mocking him again.
"You're so annoying, you know that?" Taehyung hissed and wrapped his arm around his nape, pulling his head down to his lap. Jeongguk crinkled his eyes and nose with the stream of giggles flying off his mouth as Taehyung drew a kiss on his forehead.
"Yeah, but you l—you can't be mad at me." I was literally ready to say 'but you love me.' Am I fucking crazy? Jeongguk sat up straight as he grew awkward at once, avoiding eye contact.
Taehyung furrowed his brows at his behavior and was ready to question him when Hoseok cut in. "Let's play some more!"
Taehyung fastened his arm around his waist as Jeongguk rested his head on his shoulder. "Are you okay?" he asked quietly, not wanting the others to hear him.
"Yeah, I'm fine."
Although unconvinced, Taehyung decided to stay silent and both of them paid attention to Hoseok's and Jimin's match. A faint sigh infiltrated Taehyung's ears and drew his eyes to the boy in his arms. It seemed as if he sighed unconsciously, so he brushed it off. But seconds later, another sigh burst out of Jeongguk, and he couldn't ignore it anymore. "Can we go to my room for a moment?"
"Why?"
"No reason. I just wanna kiss you and I don't want to have a make-out session in front of all of them."
Both chuckling, they slithered out of the room as the others were too focused on the game. They settled in the bed; Taehyung rested his back against the headboard and pulled the younger on his lap.
Jeongguk latched onto him, wrapping his arms around his nape and his legs around his waist. He tipped closer and rubbed their noses together, making both of them smile.
Taehyung's mouth hovered over his, and he captured it in a gentle kiss. Jeongguk tilted his head to the side to give him more access as he pushed his fingers into his hair. Taehyung explored every inch of his warm mouth with his tongue as the grip on his waist tightened. He sucked his bottom lip eagerly, earning a delicious moan from him, and shoved his tongue into his mouth again.
Their heated but delicate make-out session ended a while later as their need to breathe properly overcame them. They held eye contact as Taehyung slid a knuckle over his cheek. "What's on your mind?"
Jeongguk glanced away momentarily and gave him an awkward smile. "I heard you and Hoseok hyung talking," he chose to say instead of what he was really thinking about.
It was Taehyung's turn to tense up as his movements faltered. "What did you hear?"
"Not sure. You guys were talking about someone freaking out and Hoseok asked you if you were ready. Ready for what, Tae?"
A moment of silence swept over Taehyung. "Okay, I've been thinking about something. Can you promise me you won't freak out and leave me or something?"
"Why would I leave you? Are you crazy?"
"Just know that it's totally your decision and don't feel bad if you don't like the idea."
"Okay."
"So, um," Taehyung started hesitantly and cleared his throat. "You said that the university you want to get in to is far away from here. So I was thinking maybe we could—if you want to of course—to, um, find a place together closer to the university."
Jeongguk's eyes grew unnaturally big as his jaw popped open. "You want to move in together?"
"Only if you want to. We can try it until you start your classes, and if you don't like it, you can tell me, and we won't do it."
"But you will still be working here and the university is like an hour away from here."
"From this house, yes. From school, is only forty minutes away. And you really don't have to worry about that, baby."
"Of course I do. It's convenient to live here. The school is only twenty minutes away."
"Baby, don't think about that. Think about if you want to live with me or not."
"Are you kidding? Of course I want to live with you!" Jeongguk exclaimed as he crushed him in his embrace.
"Really?"
"Tae, I want to be with you every day all day. I'm already clingy and I literally can't get enough of you. Why would I say no when I can sleep with you every night and wake up next to you every morning?"
Taehyung felt an ocean of thrill bluster inside him, bringing a beam to his face. He ran his hand up and down his back, cloaking his neck with sweet kisses. "You make me so happy, Jeonggukie."
"You make me more, Tae." He nuzzled closer to him, and they stayed silent for a stretch as they savored the warmth and safety they felt in each other's arms.
"Thank you for coming into my life," Taehyung uttered as he pulled back to gaze at him. "You're my bestest and most favorite person in this whole world."
"That's not a word, Tae," he said through his giggles.
"It should be because you are the bestest," Taehyung teased as he pecked his nose.
"Such a dork."
"Your dork."
"My beautiful lovely dork," Jeongguk cooed as he showered him with kisses all over his face. He cupped his cheeks, gazing into his beautiful eyes with his soft ones. He suddenly felt his heart batter against his ribcage as his breath quickened. "Tae," he said, barely audible.
Taehyung looked back at him with questioning eyes, still smiling.
"I love you. And I don't care if it's early, and I don't care if you don't say it back, and I don't care if you don't feel the same. I needed to tell you that. I love you so much." He pressed a longing kiss on his lips, but even after he withdrew, he received no response from him. "Pretend I didn't say anything," he mumbled in a hurry and tried to dip his face into the crook of his neck, but delicate hands holding his head prevented him from doing so.
Taehyung trailed tender kisses on his forehead, going to his nose and then his lips. "Do you know how hard it was"—another peck on his lips—"for me to not say it out of the blue?"
"Why didn't you want to say it?"
"Because if you didn't say it back, I wouldn't be able to handle it. I love you so much that the idea of you not loving me back terrified me."
"Yoongi said 'I love you' is overrated."
"It's overrated because people say it all the time and even when they don't mean it. Saying 'I love you' means a lot, especially to someone who hasn't received love from his own parents or other people in general," he spoke in a soft tone, caressing the crown of his cheek with his thumb. "Thank you for making me feel loved."
"Tae. You deserve all the love in this world. You're an amazing person, and I couldn't be happier to call this amazing, beautiful person mine. You're mine."
"And you're mine too." Taehyung chuckled fondly. "I love you, my big baby."
"I love you, Mr. Daddy material." Jeongguk beamed and snatched his astonishing face, pulling him into a chock-full of love kiss that conveyed their feelings better and stronger than words could ever do.
