A Flying Jatt

If you guys surport A Flying Jatt, don't ever talk to me.

The movie trailer is utter carp and doesn't represent Sikhs at all. The actor cuts his hair in it constantly, doesn't wear his pug (turban), there's not ONE SINGLE AMRITDARI GIRL, the only sadars I saw were the ones in the background and the movie title is based off a cast system which is against Sikhi.

If you're still gonna support it, do you want me to remind you that there's anti - nonhindu groups, provided by the government to kill Sikhs. Indira Gandhi the 'mother' of India forcefully sterilized sikh women and killed Sikh men. She lead attacks on the Harminder Sahib. 1984 is rarely acknowledged in India and doesn't yet count as a genocide. Gandhi clained Sikhi was a "branch of Hinduism"

We had a kaali Diwali (black diwali) last year because papers of Shri Guru Granth Sahib was ripped out. Sikh people are actually in jail longer than Hindus.

If you don't know what 1984 is, let me sum it up. It was genocide. It was murder. Indira Gandhi had attacked the Harminder Sahib and was killed by her Sikh guards. After that, attacks on Sikhs began. Babies were thrown off rooftops, our land was stolen off us, our propety as damaged, women were raped, men were killed and moee horrific things happened in that year. Punjab went under lockdown. If you guys want to cry and see some other horrific things that happened, watch Punjab 1984. There's another but I forgot the name.

I've never seen a Sikh women in Bollywood.

Ever. Even in Singh is King, possibly the only correct representation of Sikhs. I even search for Amritdari girl in the background . . . And I've never seen them. Once upon a time, I texted my Hindu friend and she thought only men wore pugs.

Amritdari women are real. And they're amazing yet are never shown in media. They exist, they are beautiful and they should be allowed to be on media. Why? Why don't they count as humans? Don't they deserve to be represented?

Sikhs are always portrayed as angry (which is one of the five things we're met to control) and drunk (we aren't met to drink at all).

Within the second I saw the title, I knew it'll be crap. Jatt is a cast which is common for Sikhs and Punjabis. We're agaisnt it completely, it's written all over Shri Guru Granth Sahib. Don't tell me Jatt sounds better than Sikh.

I don't care. The cast system was something our gurus wanted gone.

Sometimes, I feel like India hates us. We're never represented and when we are, it's wrongly done. Anti Non Hindu groups exist and they're founded by the government. My people still don't have an identity, mistaken for Hindus and Muslims.

We aren't a branch of Hinduism (we're far from it) or Muslims. We aren't drinkers, we don't get angry over small things, we aren't happy all the time. We deserve more. Little Sikh children deserve more than a movie once a year and one that poorly illustrates them.

Little Sikh girls should be allowed to feel pretty. To feel smart. To feel empowered. Little Sikh boys do as well.

It's as if Bollywood will never recognize us as Indians, as Humans who actually feel pain.

Call me selfish but I want more representation and ones that are right. A Flying Jatt uses Sikhi as a prop -- nothing more than that.

Don't argue unless you are a Sikh. If you know nothing about us, why will you even argue? Even pretend that it's okay Bollywood constantly erases our identities?

- Maya.
