Courtney Morrison and Suki Blair have been best friends ever since they were lonely little girls.

Courtney was the more dominant out of the two. Jackie Taylor may have been Wiskayok's golden girl but Courtney Morrison was Wiskayok's beauty queen. She was pretty, popular, and insanely good at soccer. She had the boys at school wrapped around her finger and every girl desperately wanting to be just like her. Although she was incredibly mean and cruel and calculating, no one had the power to stop Courtney. She ran the high school with an iron fist and she also had a violent streak, one that was only growing worse. She liked to hurt people, especially those who she deemed underneath her. 

Behind her pretty facade, Courtney had a lot of issues and she had them ever since she was a little girl. There were issues that her mother was determined to hide, wanting to keep the image of a perfect family even despite the fact that her dad left her and her mom could never keep a man for very long. The only one who wasn't wrapped around Courtney's finger was her younger sister, Nancy, who saw right through Courtney. She saw the devil behind her sister's eyes but no one would believe her. Who could believe that Courtney Morrison was a wolf in sheep's clothing?

No one except for Suki, her best friend.

Suki followed Courtney around like a loyal dog, doing absolutely everything Courtney told her to do. No matter how cruel, no matter how malicious or terrible. She knew about Courtney's dark side and yet she stayed. She stayed because there was a darkness inside of her too. One that had been festering inside of her from a young age. It was one of the reasons why the two girls got along so well. Courtney encouraged Suki's darkness; she pushed her to be violent. And when it was all said and done, she'd be the one to lick and tend to Suki's wounds when no one else would.

After Suki's mom died from suicide when she was only thirteen, she didn't have anyone else she could rely on. Her dad tried but he was still suffering from his own grief to truly pay attention. The only one who helped her was Courtney. If it wasn't for Courtney, Suki would be a loser. If it wasn't for Courtney, Suki wouldn't be on the soccer team and be one of the best players. If it wasn't for Courtney, Suki probably would have joined her mom years ago. Courtney was her everything, but Courtney didn't know everything about Suki. Suki always felt like she was different from others, seeing and hearing things that weren't there. And having strange night terrors that'd leave Suki terrified by the next morning. Suki was trying to keep it all hidden, but as she got older, that grew to be more and more of a struggle.

But with Courtney by her side, Suki was confident that she could get through it.

That only increases when the team is preparing to go to nationals, leaving their dead end town to compete in the big city. This was the biggest moment in both girls' lives as well as the rest of their teammates. They were destined for greatness, they were going to have the time of their lives. Until it all goes wrong and instead of nationals, their plane crashes in the middle of the wilderness where no one can find them. 

No one was there to protect them, to hear them scream, to stop their suffering in any way. They were all on their own and their dream come true was about to turn into a nightmare.
