Chapter 4

Waking Up

-Griffin-

I sat on the stool outside of the door. I hoped she would be okay. What if her kids didn't survive? My big brother, Asher, swung the door open. I jumped off of my stool.

"Is she okay?" I asked.

"She's fine. She just gave birth to the last one. Do you want to see them?"

"Yeah!"

He lead me into the room where my mom was petting her Eevee that just have birth to five little ones. Each one was covering in creamy brown fur and had there eyes closed. They nestled next to their mother.

Momma Eevee smiled at us with her tired face. She nodded at us, saying it was okay to look at her pups. I picked up the smallest one. He was soft and warm. His ears twitched and he yawned. He wiggled around on my arms. He open his eyes slightly. I beamed.

He closed his eyes and fell asleep in my arms.

"He must like you," Asher said, petting his own Eevee, "who knows he might even be yours someday."

"That would be awesome!"

I opened my eyes slowly. I adjusted to the bright lights of the hospital room. I was probably in the medical center of the academy. It was dream. A memory actually. My body was sore and it hurt to move. I managed to sit up. I scratched my head and realized that my left hand was wrapped in bandages. I had a cut under my right eyes that would probably stay there for awhile. My arms were also covered in bruises and scabs.

The door squeaked open and a nurse was standing there.

"Oh, your finally awake!" She exclaimed.

"How long was I out?"

"A day and a couple of hours."

"When do I get to leave?"

"Probably later this day. We'll give you some pain medicine and you'll be on your way. I'll bring you something to eat."

"Thank you."

The nurse opened the door and the Headmaster, Mr. Kraler was standing there. Crap, he's gonna kill me. Mr. Kraler was probably the most evil, cruel creature to walk the planet.

"Mr. Kraler." The nurse greeted and left.

"Hello, Mr. Black. I hope you are feeling well." He said, pulling up a chair. He held something behind his back.

"Yes, I am. Thank you."

"Good. Then, maybe you can explain this." He held out a Pokeball. Frogadier's Pokeball.

"It's a Pokeball, sir." Maybe I could play this off.

"You what it is so don't lie!" He spat, "it is against the rules. Do you know what this will do to the database? Not only that but you went after the attacker and nearly got yourself killed and for what? Trying to play hero? Your lucky that Ms. Sparks wasn't severely hurt or her father would have my head and yours! You just like your worthless father and brother!"

I have taken so much from Kraler over the years but insulting my family is where I draw the line. I grabbed him by the collar.

"Don't talk about my father or my brother like that ever again. Both of them alone were more of a man then you ever will be."

I let go of him.

"I will figure out your punishment after everything gets sorted out or if you are pulled out of school like many other students."

He turned on his heel and threw Frogadier's Pokeball behind him. Lucky for him, I caught it. I was oddly relived that Zoey didn't get hurt. After all, it wad kind of my fault. The nurse brought me a bowl of soup and some corn bread. I finished them both quickly. Maybe twenty minutes later, Liam walked through the door.

He sat down in the same chair as Mr. Kraler did.

"How ya doing, bro?" He asked.

"I'm fine." I sighed.

"Mr. Kraler found out about Frogadier?"

"Yep." I patted my Water-Type's Pokeball.

"Well, you got some serious balls going after the attacker."

"Biggest balls in the entire Kanto region."

We stared at each other solemnly. Then, Liam bursted out with laughter.

"What?!?" He managed to say through his uncontrollable laughter.

I was laughing too. The laughing died out.

"Liam, they know about Asher." I said.

"Your brother? How?"

"I don't know but they know where he is. Or they have him or he's trying to stop them. I don't know but I'm going after them. There base is in the Seafoam Islands. At least that's what the lady who torched the school said."

"I'm going with you then."

"No, Liam, I can't ask this of you. These people are dangerous."

"If your doing something stupid and dangerous you know I'm automatically in. You should know this by now. I know Asher is your brother and you gotta do this. But, your like a brother to me. So I go where you go."

"Thank you, Liam."

We clasped our hands like we were arm wrestling and patted each other on the back.

"Now I'm gonna smooth talk that nurse into letting you go a little bit early."

"I can't believe that worked." I said as we stood outside of the school gates.

I had called my mom and told her about the fire. I left out the part of going after the lady. I told her I would be staying in Asher's apartment, since he had one here because he was the Gym Leader of Viridian, with Liam until she got back from visiting my aunt in Sinnoh. She would be back in two weeks.

Liam told the same story to his Aunt and Uncle who live in Cerulean City. I felt bad lying to my mom but we had to go after those people.

We had our Pokemon and backpacks minus the school work. We would get our remaining supplies in Viridian. We walked out of the front gates and onto the sidewalk. I heard hurried footsteps behind us. I turned around and saw a girl. Her long brown hair whipped around as she ran. Zoey.

She ran right into me and we toppled onto the ground.

"You!" She shouted as she was on top of me.

"Me!" I shouted back. She got off of me and kicked me in my already injured ribs for good measure.

I got up, wheezing from the punt to my side.

"What are you two idiots doing?"

"What are you doing?" Liam patted my back.

"Yeah, where might you be going?" I asked.

"Just stay outta my way!" She pushed past us and ran into the concrete jungle known as Viridian City.

Author note: Yep, filler. Sorry its definitely not one of my bests but the next chapter is gonna get better. So yeah what is Griffin's brother up to? Why did the school get attacked?
