Chapter 15

Stranded

I stared at numerous water Pokemon that were swimming through my window. A Seaking darted by. A small Magikarp swam into sight and looked at me.

"Don't worry, little one. You'll evolve eventually. You'll be powerful. You'll be feared." I put my hand on the glass.

"Sir!" A female voice yelled.

I turned around and saw one of my strongest commanders. Krista, was had lead the attack on the school. She even fought with the boy.

"What is it, Krista?"

"Turner, has the Mega Ring."

I smiled. "We have the Mega Stones and the Mega Ring. Now, we just need to get the machine working. And of course we need him."

"There's something else, sir."

"What is that?"

"We captured the Gym Leader. He surrendered. Which isn't like him. It also means that our target isn't far ahead. Do you think Asher is up to something?"

"He might be. But we have him now." I tapped on the glass and a school of Goldeen dispersed. "We just need to make him talk."

-Griffin-

My eyes slowly opened to the sunlight. My whole body ached. I was resting on a bed of pine needles. I struggled to sit up. I felt my scar under my eye. My lip was bleeding and I was bruised on my shoulders, arms, and legs. I slowly got to my feet.

I remembered what happened last night. Liam, Zoey, and I chasing the thief. Me being dropped from the sky. The strange Pokemon that saved me. I had never seen anything like it.

I released all of my Pokemon. They all have me confused looks.

"Okay guys, we are lost. Liam, Zoey, and Umbreon are somewhere else. And we gotta find them." I said.

They all nodded. I started to limp off into the forest with my Pokemon. We walked deeper into the forest. Caterpie crawled up the trees and Mankey swung on the branches. I tripped on a tree root but Frogadier caught me.

"Thanks, bud." I said as he sat me down on a stump. "Maybe we should take a break."

Frogadier nodded and plopped down next to me. I patted him on the head and smiled. I realized that I didn't have my backpack or any supplies at all. I was starving. My stomach growled loudly.

"I have to find some food. Or water." I realized my tongue was very dry.

I tried to stand up but Frogadier gently pushed me back down.

"Frog. Fro. Frogadier." He croaked.

"I can look for food and water. I'm not that injured."

Frogadier gave me a 'let us handle this' look.

"Okay. Be careful."

My Pokemon scampered off into the woods in search of food and water. I took this time to think. The thieves so far have stolen two Mega Stones that belong to the same Pokemon. They have also stolen a Mega Ring. They must intend to Mega Evolve a Pokemon but what for? Why do they need two Mega Stones? Maybe the stones have different results like Charizard X or Charizard Y. But I don't know any Pokemon capable of having two Mega Evolutions besides Charizard and Sabeleye.

My brow furrowed in confusion. Non of this was adding up. And what does Asher's 'friend' have anything to do with this? Who is this 'friend'? Asher never told me about him/her. Asher tells me everything.

I let out a sigh. I heard rustling in the grass. Kit, Hex, and Frogadier bounded towards me.

"Oh, hey guys." I stood up.

I was still extremely sore. Kit bit on my pant leg while Frogadier pulled on my arm. Hex barked enthusiastically. My Pokemon lead me deeper into the woods. The farther we walked the louder the sound of running water got.

We brushed past the last set of trees and found a stream. I knelt next to it and dunked my head in it. My Pokemon did the same. I chuckled as I brought my head out of the water. I cupped my hands and dipped them into the stream. I start taking fierce gulps of the water. I decided to stop myself just in case if there was any bad side effects.

My Pokemon were delicately sipping the water. I then realized that Nuz wasn't here among us.

"Guys, where's Nuz?" I asked frantically.

Hex finished her drink of water and pointed her paw to my left. I turned around and saw Nuz with his eyes fixated on the trees.

"Nuz, what are you doing?"

Suddenly, I spotted dozens of Shiftry hopping from branch to branch. Nuz looked at them like they were marvels. The Shiftry swiftly jumped to each tree like they weren't even thinking. It was all instinct. They all made one big leap to the other side of the stream. They successfully landed and continued their tree jumping.

Nuz was awestruck along with the rest of us. I could tell Nuz wanted to evolve right then and there. But to evolve a Nuzleaf, you need a Leafstone. I didn't have one. I knew how Nuz felt. I always watched my brother and my dad train their Pokemon. I yearned to be just like them.

Nuz stared at the trees across from us. Kit crawled up on my lap and placed a leaf with berries stacked on it.

"Thanks, Kit." I smiled and stroked her slate gray fur as we munched down the berries.

Nuz joined us and we all started stuffing ourselves with berries.

-Liam-

"Griffin!" I called out. "Griffin!"

Zoey and I had spent all last night looking for Griffin but we couldn't find him. We went back to Lavender Town and got some people to help us look. There was still no sign of him. The sun had dipped down and it was night again.

"Liam." Zoey walked up to me with her flashlight.

"Yeah?"

"D-do you think Griffin is dead? Do you think those monsters captured him?" She choked on every word.

Her eyes were filling up with tears. I was amazed. Zoey crying over Griffin!

"Hey, you two whippersnappers!" Mr. Fuji approached us. "One of the search teams are saying they found him. They found Griffin!"

-Griffin-

I stared at the burning wood in my fire. The flames danced on the branches, leaving them black and reducing them to ashes. I threw a log into the fire with a couple on pines needles.

Kit was happily sleeping on my lap while Hex was using my leg as a pillow. Nuz was curled up next to me. I smiled at the thought of him dreaming of becoming a Shiftry. Frogadier sat right next to me; he was wide awake just like me.

"Frogadier, I'm sorry I always keep you in your Pokeball. It's just...I care about you and I want you to be happy. I want to train you, to make you stronger. But I'm not allowed to have you and I don't want to risk losing you." I said.

It always bothered me that I couldn't give Frogadier the attention or freedom he deserves. Frogadier gave me an understanding look and nodded. He affectionately patted my shoulder and laid down to sleep.

I thought about my school. I spent most of my life there. Most of the stuff they taught us is useless out here. I understand why they teach us the basics like battling and what not, but I don't need to know who made the first Potion or why people thought Arcanine was legendary Pokemon. They keep us there for years, trying to prepare us for our big adventure but the best part of the adventure is learning along the way. Discovering new things and new ways of doing things.

My eyes grew heavy and I started to fall asleep.

I opened my eyes and saw that I was surrounded by orange liquid. I frantically looked around and saw nothing but scientists and people dressed in black. I was trapped in some tube. I spotted a boy hiding behind a machine. I looked closely at him. I recognized him. It was Asher when he was kid.

My eyes shot open. I breathed heavily. Standing behind my fire was the Pokemon that saved me the night before.

He started to speak to me but his lips didn't move.

Griffin, can you piece it all together?

"A-are you Asher's f-f-friend he's going after?"

Yes, I have known Asher since the day I first opened my eyes. I am Mewtwo. The thieves have captured your brother. He has been trying to stop them, he has been trying to help me. Those scum are trying to find a way to use me to cause total chaos. They have secured my Mega Evolution stones. With those in my disposal, I am the strongest Pokemon. I want to help Asher but that's what they want. They surely have a trap ready for me. I also promises your brother I would avoid contact with the thieves at all costs. I'm sorry but there is nothing I can do. You must save your brother. He needs you now more then ever.

Mewtwo raises his hand and my eyelids closed.

Author note: Yay! Complete filler chapter. Sorry if it wasn't good guys but I've had track and school work started to pick up and I couldn't find time to type. So here's what's going on: the thieves are going to capture Mewtwo and use his Mega Evolution stones to destroy Kanto. I didn't do a good job of explaining it so yeah. Also, the guy at the beginning of the chapter is the same one from the prologue. There are going to be a lot of view point from him so we are just going to call him ??? For now.
