Chapter 1: The Kanto Academy
Chapter 1
The Kanto Academy
-Griffin-
I rode on the back of the mighty serpent, Rayquaza. He darted from star to star. He twisted, weaved, and turned through asteroids and planets.
"This is amazing!" I shouted to Rayquaza.
He turned to me and opened his gigantic jaws. I expected him to speak to me but all I heard was the piercing ring of the school bell.
I jolted awake and realized that my classmates were leaving. I never understood how they could stay awake during Evolution class. I mean something were useful like what items evolve what Pokemon and stuff like that but other times it was extremely dull.
I brushed aside my light brown hair that hung in my eyes and got out of my desk. I straightened my black jacket and picked up my bag. I darted out of that classroom before Mrs. Wiess could give me a lecture. Didn't want to miss lunch.
I attended the Kanto Academy in Viridian City and train Dark-Types. Why they have students stick to one type is beyond me. Something about a database and personality and various things along those lines. I'm not complaining I love Dark-Types and my Pokemon. I've been fascinated with them since I was a child. After all, my dad used to train them.
I felt an arm wrap around my shoulder. It was none other then my best friend and room mate, Liam Miller. He had curly bleach blond hair and a stupid grin on his face. He trained Ground-Types. His Sandshrew, Sandy, rested on his shoulder.
"Hey, Liam," I greeted him, "hi, Sandy."
Sandy gave me a wave with her tiny paw and clung harder to her master's shirt. Sandy was always this way, shy. Liam only used her battles occasionally. She was good but often got intimated by her opponents.
"What's up, Grif?" His arm still dangling on my shoulder.
"Evolution class sucks. Your lucky you don't have it until next year."
"Yep."
"Where are we gonna eat lunch."
"Ooo, about that."
"Liam."
"Kelsi Donaldson asked me to sit by her today."
"C'mon man! Don't ditch me like this! She isn't even that hot."
"Oh, she is indeed hot. I'll make it up to you. I'll buy you dinner some time."
"Fine, hope you like all you can eat pizza."
"See ya!" He ran off towards to the lunchroom with Sandy clutching onto his shirt.
I guess I would eat lunch on the front lawn. Each person usually belong in some clique based on their type they train. Fighting-Type are usually in the gymnasium. Water hangs out at the pool, Grass are out by lawns, Electric, Rock, Normal, Flying, Steel, and Ground don't really have a place but they all hang out according to types. Same thing with Dragon. Psychics are always meditating and the Fairies are always skipping around without a care in the world. Ice are usually at the ice rink. Dark and Ghost are always trying to act mopey and Goth. I'm not that way. There's plenty more but I'm done listing them off Students like me and Liam don't really care about any of this.
I grabbed a sandwich, an apple, and a bottle of grape juice from lunch room. I also picked up three cans of Pokemon food. I snuck a fourth can into my bag.
I headed over to the main entrance and pushed the glass double doors open. Students, including Grass-Type trainer, sat around the grand lawn. I picked a spot in shade of a remote cherry blossom tree. I grabbed my four Pokeballs. I set three aside and whispered to the fourth one.
"Sorry, Frogadier. Too many people. I'll feed you tonight." I set Frogadeir's ball back in my bag.
I can only train Dark-Types while in school. Frogadier is a Water-Type and I'd get in serious trouble if anyone found out about it. Liam already knows and has helped me hide him. I found him as a Froakie last summer. He was injured and my mom and I nursed him back to health. I was supposed to set him free but I didn't. I always wanted a Greninja since my dad showed me his. Besides, Frogadier was stuck to me like glue. I've trained him in secret ever since.
He should evolve into Greninja in a few months. I just need to hide him until then.
I threw the remaining Pokeballs in the air. They snapped open and my friends came bounding out. The first to come out was a Pokemon I had since he was an Eevee. He had a sleek black coat of fur with yellow rings on his slender legs and one on his tail and forehead. He had dark red eyes, Umbreon was king of like the leader out of my Pokemon. Umbreon jumped on me and licked my face.
The second to come out was a Pokemon with thick white fur and navy blue skin and horn to the side of her head. It was an Absol named Hex. Absol being the Disaster Pokemon and all it seemed fitting. Absol nuzzled my arm affectionately.
The final Pokemon was brown and had a pointy nose with a leaf on its head. Two large growths like you would find on trees rested on each short leg.
"Nuzleaf!" He cried and ran up to join us. He jumped into my chest.
"Careful, Nuz." I wheezed.
They crawled off of me and waited for their food. I cracked the cans open and pour it into their bowls I pulled out of my bag.
They gobbled up their lunch as I ate my sandwich at a regular pace. I finished my sandwich shortly after my Pokemon devoured their lunch. I let them play around on the lawn where I could see them. I sipped me juice as I munched on my apple. I've been extremely tired since I woke up this morning, that's why I fell asleep in Evolution. Liam snored all last night and I just couldn't sleep.
I was comfortable in the cool shade while I rested in the soft grass. I shut my eyes for what felt like seconds. Sadly, it wasn't.

I am so dead. I'm already tens minutes late. I sprinted down the halls, bumping into people as I went. I pushed through the doors that lead out to the stadium. Mr. Gates is gonna kill me when I show up to Battle class.
I ran into the stadium. Mr. Gates was right in the middle of talking when I arrived with my hands on my knees, trying to catch my breath.
"Nice of you to join us," he said clapping his hands together, "we were just pairing up for battling. And you get to be with Ms. Zoey Sparks."
Oh, Arceus. Why did it have to be her? I am so dead.
