I walk outside, and I don't like what I see. I see a road and a little sidewalk, and a sign shining bring which reads "EDEN HOTEL-WE ALWAYS HAVE A ROOM AVAIABLE." It's true. They always do. I hear the sound of the ocean, and I walk to my left, going towards the ocean. It's then I hear another voice. It sounds like a boys.

"Hi" he says, and I turn around and I see the sandy haired boy.

"Hello" I say back.

"Are you confused as I am?" he asks.

"Yes" I say and I stop. I am confused, but I am confused at who this person is too. Are we people? Are we alive?

"No answers" he says back.

"I agree" I say.

I look at him up and down. He's in his t-shirt and jeans, and nothing about him looks wrong. Yet, I don't know.

"What's your name?" I ask.

"They tell me it's Nathan...."

"I'm told it's Alice..."

"Do you remember any of the past?" I ask.

"No" he says, "All I have is pain within myself.

"You know", he says and than sits down into the sand, hands behind him, looking out at the ocean, "I don't know if I had a life before this. I really don't. All I know is it's hard to find yourself when you have no past. It really is."

"I can relate" I say and I sit down next to him. Then I do something that shocks me. I put my head on his shoulder. He turns around and looks at me.

"I remember this" I say, "I remember what's it's like to feel, even if I don't remember what I was having a feeling about."

"Me too" he says and for the first time, I feel a bit alive. I just met this boy a minute ago, but something about him is drawing me to him. It's more than instant attraction. It's a connection of being in this together, even if we don't know what this is.

"Alice" he says, "do you think we had a family before we came here?"

"I don't know" I say, "but I don't remember."

Then we hear a voice behind us. We turn around and it's the man from when we first got here, from wherever it was we came from.

"You two" he says, "always nice to feel. However, Alice, I need to talk to you for a minute."

"Oh" I say, "It's only been a few hours. Do you really need to talk to me now?"

"Yes" he says, and smiles nicely.
