Edd awoke in the middle of the night from a terrifying dream. He got out of bed and went to go find Matt. The two had been dating for a while without Tom or Tord (who had recently moved back in) knowing. He opened the door to the ginger's room and walked over to his bed, making sure to close the door behind him. He gently shook the shorter man.
"Edd? What... what's wrong?" Matt questioned, waking up and rolling over. Edd didn't respond, he merely got down on his knees and rested his head on Matt's stomach. Matt was shocked. He had never seen Edd act this way before and he wasn't sure what to do about it. He began to gently pet Edd's hair, trying to sooth him.
"Edd..." He tried again. He was going to try and say something else but Edd spoke up.
"I just... had a nightmare..." Edd responded, trying not to sound as scared as he was. Matt chuckled quietly.
"A nightmare? Is that it?" Matt asked, craving he knock to the side. Edd shifted a little so that he was facing Matt instead of the end of the bed.
"You don't understand. It just... it felt so real..."
"Well what was it about?" Matt inquired, gazing at the brunette. Edd started to feel stupid. He knew that he shouldn't have woken Matt up for such things, but it was important to him.
"I... I was standing there, and then... then you walked up. I greeted you kindly, but... I was met with hatred. You just started... shouting. You were mad at me. You said so many things... so many awful things, and," He let out a choked sob, feeling even stupider than before, "s-sorry, I just-" Edd was interrupted by Matt pulling him fully on top of him. Matt wrapped his arms over Edd. Edd was taller than Matt, so his head rested just below Matt's chin made his legs fall of of Matt's.
"Never apologize. You said the dream felt really real, right?"
"Well... y-yeah, but-"
"Then you have no reason to apologize. Your feelings are valid. I haven't had dreams like that before but if I had I would have done the same thing you did." Matt ran his fingers through Edd's short hair, soothing him slightly.
"Thank you... thank you so much..." Edd responded, hugging Matt as best he could. The two layed like that for a while before Matt spoke up.
"You know I love you, right?" He inquired, rubbing Edd's back.
"Mhm... and I love you, too..." Edd smiled tiredly, finally beginning to drift off to sleep.
"Goodnight, Edd."
"Night, Matt..."
