34- fix this before i come back.
July ended and August arrived in full blast. Selene had been spending a lot of time outside doing a variety of things including gardening with her mother and walking around town randomly, her normally slightly pale skin looked softly sun-kissed. Sometimes she would hang out with the muggles in town, riding bikes or soaking up the last stretches of summer.
It was two weeks before It was surprising how the full group of friends had held off for this long before gotten together yet that holiday, considering how school started on September 1st for some of the group.
They had a plan of starting at Lily's house and then walking over to the muggle village that both Selene and Lily were well aquatinted with the town having visited it many summers before. Peter was coming but unexpectedly canceled last minute. Both Marlene and Alice were spending the night at the Ray's with Lily as well. The topic of the girls having a sleepover was a secret since the boys were not invited to that, with Sirius and James' dramatics the topic would become a big thing.
The girls were sitting in Lily's room which was themed purple and green. They were talking and laughing before hearing a big poof from downstairs.
The girls all rushed down the steps of the house to see where all the noise was coming from. Loud bangs were coming from behind the Evans' fireplace, vibrating the house and almost everything in it.
"What is all this noise, Lily?" gasped Petunia, who had run down the stairs a moment later. She was staring wide-eyed at the fireplace where all the noise was. "What are you and your foolish little friends up to?"
Lily turned around to look at her sister with a shrug and turned back around, the group of girls and Petunia Voices could be heard from inside the blocked fireplace.
"Agh! Padfoot, no - go back, go back, there's been a mistake - OUCH!
Moony, there's no room, go back a bit-"
"Maybe they can hear us - maybe they'll be able to let us out -"
There was a loud knocking on the fireplace.
"Selly? Lily, can you hear us?" Came the voice of James Potter.
Petunia was now screaming wildly like a madwoman, her arms were flung over her head and she ran out the door, "I AM GOING TO VERNON'S, FIX THIS BEFORE I AM BACK!"
Lily sighed tiredly, "They've tried to get here by Floo powder," Selene was fighting a mad desire to laugh.
"This fireplace must not be fit for Floo," Alice commented thoughtfully.
Marlene marched up to the fireplace and called through it.
"Idiots? Can you hear me?"
The hammering stopped. "I will not answer to that-"
"You just did." A voice that sounded just like Remus' flowed into the house.
"I feel attacked, I am going home." James huffed.
"I love this." James squealed, he had just discovered what muggle fireworks were. "These have always been a thing, even in our world." Remus said dryly. Selene and Marlene were in their own world looking at keychains searching for their names.
"Okay, so, there is Selena, but no Selene."
"Even the keychains think you are Selena!" Marlene said, holding a bright blue chain with her name on it.
Sirius, Peter, who randomly showed up, and James were all squealing like teenage girls over the muggle fireworks. Remus was stood behind the trio shaking his head with a book in hand from the book store the group was just dragged out of by James and Sirius. Lily was still in her own little world in the book store across the street.
"I'm going to to get Lily, be right back." Selene announced the the group, Remus and Marlene shot her a thumbs up and the other three didn't even acknowledge her existence.
She opened the door to exit the shop and cross the street of the tiny town. There must of been a crack in the pavement because the bag in her hands fell to the ground. Selene bent down quickly to pick up the items when a pair of hands also started to pile things back into the bag.
Selene looked up to see a blonde girl with bright gray eyes and a small smile look back. "Thank you so much." Selene breathed standing back up.
"It was no trouble," the girl responded kindly.
"I'm Selene," Selene said smiling back semi awkwardly.
"I'm Ivy, Ivy rune."
"Walk with me? I have to go retrieve a friend it seems she has gotten lost in the books."
"Happens to the best of us." Ivy said, "And yes, I would like that. My mother told me to spend the day here instead of trapped up in my room with my hamster."
The brunette laughed softly, "I'm just out with some friends, soaking up the last bit of summer before school arrives."
"Where do you go to school? I have never seen you around." Ivy asked looking over at her.
"Oh um," Selene said desperately trying to find an excuse. You can't tell her you go to a school of magic, she would think you're mad. "I'm here and there, I study abroad you see."
Ivy sighed, "I have always wanted to travel, I'm stuck in this town forever."
Selene looked over at the girl, she had freckles littering her face and her dimples would show themselves whenever she would smile. "I'm sure you will travel at some point."
"I hope so." Ivy smiled sadly. "I normally just walk around like right now or stay home. My one friend is out of town for the summer so I have nobody."
"You can hangout with my friends and I for the day if you want?"
"Oh no thank you," Ivy said, "I should be getting back now anyways, it was nice to meet you Selene."
"You too, Ivy." Selene said with a small smile before turning to go find Lily.
The group of friends were walking home. They had been out and about the whole day, the sun was setting showing a brilliant shade of pink and orange. "Well I quiet enjoyed that." Peter said quietly. Lily and Remus were wasting no time by already skimming the backs of the books they had bought both eyes gleaming.
Marlene and Sirius were walking beside each other swapping sweets they had bought that day both mesmerized by muggle sweets.
Which left, James and Selene walking side by side hand in hand in silence. James looked over at the girl and simply stared. Selene was looking at the sky admiring the beauty of the colors mixing together and the sun going down. "Beautiful, isn't it?" She asked. "Yeah, yeah, it is." James responded looking at her.
A week had passed and the others were due to go back to Hogwarts for their final year. Mistakenly Selene had forgot to inform Dumbledore that she would not be coming back and a letter arrived informing her that she would be Head Girl. She was surprised to say the least and slightly guilty since she wouldn't be able to actually be Head Girl. Even worse, James had gotten Head Boy and had written to the girl telling her so.
Selene was skimming through the new copy of The Daily Prophet. All the articles were boring so far. A group of pixies let Loos in the ministry and other boring things. Selene turned the next page and what she saw broke her heart.
Family of muggles all killed by death eaters.
Family of muggles killed by death eaters early Saturday morning. Neighbors claim to hear screaming come from the house and a big flash of green light flow through the windows illuminating the street. Family killed turns out to be the Rune's. Both parents killed names yet to be determined. The family had a daughter Ivy Rune who was the only one that could be determined.
Selene shook her head. She had just seen Ivy a week ago. She had wanted to travel the world and live, not this. Selene felt devastated. There had been many deaths but those had been names but it was becoming real now.
Selene was re-thinking everything. Did she want to leave school? She truly didn't know. Did she know what she was doing? She was just a kid. Never would she have ever seen herself leaving school early. She didn't know if she truly know how to deal with these types of things correctly?
She found herself at Lily's house to talk to the redhead. Selene had decided that she wanted to wait for their plan for after school for when she would have the correct experience to deal with these types of things, "I know we said we were not going to go back to school-" Selene blurted standing at Lily's door the redhead looked up at her and smiled.
"But you're having second thoughts." Lily finished for the girl. "Yes." Selene responded awkwardly, "Me too." Lily gushed, "It couldn't hurt to start our plan next summer?" Selene nodded, "I saw the paper today and I knew the girl that died and then I was just thinking all these things and yeah. I want more experience and I made Head Girl."
Lily squealed, "Oh, I knew it would be you!" She jumped up for her bed to embrace Selene. "I'm so proud of you." She whispered.
"Really? I thought it would definitely be you."
Lily gasped her face turning sad, "You won't be in our dorm anymore!"
Selene smirked, "I'll be with my boyfriend."
"James made it?" Lily asked horror-struck.
"Yeah, he really matured. Did you see his grades last year? Beat Remus."
Lily gasped again, "He beat Remus? How?"
Selene smiled wickedly, "Muggle studies, he got and O, Remus got and E."
"So, you beat Remus?"
"I only helped him."
