31 - euphemia potter
A fortnight had passed. Selene and James were being a sickeningly sweet couple. The messy-haired boy would pull her into empty corridors or deserted classrooms for stolen kisses or to talk. They would hold hands in the corridors, exchange notes during potions.
James would attempt to string Selene in on pranks to her refusal. Sirius thought it amusing to nickname the brunette as "Prongs's Girly" and "Fawn" much to her dismay and constant negative comments on the name.
When Selene had told Marlene the girl gave her a smirk and a high five and told her to "get that bag!"
When Alice found out she engulfed the girl in a big hug. Telling the girl they needed to go on a double date soon.
Finally when Selene had told Lily who was the last person she told. Lily got quite for a second and then spoke up. "Why didn't you tell me?"
"I just did." Selene said. Lily pursed her lips, "No, why didn't you tell me when you first liked him?"
"Again, I did. Well, you more of found out, but you were the first person I told. Other than Alice."
"No I am not talking about that." Lily shook her head, "I think you liked him before. I always noticed the look on your face when he would ask me out. I always thought it was annoyance, matching mine. But now you are dating him?"
"Wait," Selene paused, "You don't like him, right?"
"No! No! Ew." Lily scrunched her face up in disgust. "I just cannot fathom why him? He is an arrogant toe-rag and now you like him. I just could never so I've been trying to process it the last few days. And then I thought "Hey! Maybe he isn't bad if your best friend likes him!" So, then I tried to have a conversation with him, like normal. He didn't flirt or do anything at all but I brought up quidditch and I know nothing about it! I can't bond with him."
Selene's face softened, "I thought you were mad! I'm sure you will find something at some point, don't worry."
"Of course not!" Lily smiled, "I am happy for you. He is definitely a step up from Aiden."
It was the last day of sixth year. Selene was relieved that she had scored excellent in her grades. The girl received all O's, surprisingly. Even out doing Lily who got an E in DADA.
It was the final meal before they were to go off on the train ride home. Euphemia had already owled Selene telling her to come stay the first week of the summer holidays which Selene excepted.
To her relief when she walked over to the Gryffindor table all the marauders were sitting together. "Forgiven, eh?" Selene nodded towards Remus and Sirius sitting together. She sat down next to James who greeted her with a smile. "Yes." Remus mumbled.
"Finally." Selene whispered, picking up a piece of toast and spreading a thin layer of blueberry jam on it. "I have to take summer classes." Peter groaned, shoving as many pumpkin pasties into his mouth as he could fit. "I got a two A's and then the rest a mix of P's and T's."
"That sucks, Pete, I'm sorry." Selene shot him a comforting smile.
"We will study." Remus told the blonde haired boy.
"Fawn!" Sirius spoke up for the first time that morning. "I cannot wait to live with you for a week!"
Selene blinked and then pursed her lips. She had not thought about that yet. "On second thought, James. I can't stay with you, I am busy. Sorry!" James rolled his eyes, "Padfoot will behave! Or I will write Moony."
"Where is Marlene?" Selene asked, looking over at where the girls usually sat. "No idea." James said. "Lily dragged them on the train early. She didn't drag you along though because you wouldn't wake up without threatening her and she knew you would want to sit by Prongs." Peter spoke up quietly. "You see, Wormtail! You aren't completely useless! You know what Lily is doing." Sirius said with a bright smile. "Sirius!" Remus groaned, "That is not a considerate thing to say."
"Sorry." Sirius mumbled.
"Alright, I gotta go! I promised I would be early to the train." Selene said, standing up. "Come see me at some point during the ride." James yelled after her.
The four friends were sitting in their usual compartment on the Hogwarts express. The school was fading out of view at the train moved along the tracks to Platform 9 3/4. "I will miss it." Alice broke the silence with a look of nostalgia already playing on her face.
"It's good what we are doing. Not coming back you know." Marlene said. The castle was now completely out of view.
"Let's just enjoy this summer." Lily smiled at her friends. "Never thought I would hear that come from you." Selene teased.
"Well I want to have fun! Let loose a bit." Lily said. "I am loving this." Marlene said under her breath to Selene who laughed softly. "I told Frank about our plan." Alice spoke up from her window seat. "He was very supportive, thought it was a good idea."
Selene smiled, "Well, I am glad."
"We probably should tell the other boys." Lily said, "Remus and his lot of friends."
"Never would of guessed to see this from you, Evans." Sirius said with a smirk. The girls had just announced to the Marauders that they would not be returning to Hogwarts for their seventh years, wanting to start MALS the organization to heal people for free early. Lily shot him a fierce glare, "I am merely starting my career early."
James was starting dumbstruck at Selene, "So you're leaving?"
"Yeah. I am." Selene breathed, nodding at him. "I am happy for you," James smiled, though his eyes told a different story that Selene didn't see since she was looking at Peter who was looking quizzically.
"Wormtail?" Remus questioned, from beside the boy having noticed his look as well.
"Hm?" Peter jerked his head over the the honey eyed boy. "You okay?" Remus asked softly. "Oh yes!" He squeaked.
They all quirked a brow but moved on nonetheless. They spent the rest of the ride talking and laughing and playing a round of a game they played of guessing the flavors of Bertie Blotts Every Flavour Beans.
The Hogwarts Express had made it to Kings Cross train station. The group of friends made their way off of the train and onto the platform. It was crowded with families greeting their children to take them home for the summer holidays. Selene spotted Lily's parents and hers. She and Lily walked over to them. "What are you doing here?" Selene asked her mother, "I am staying with James for the first week."
"I know," Marie Ray smiled at her daughter, "We wanted to see you-."
"-And this new boy of yours." Her father, Atticus Ray finished for his wife. "Yes, I suppose that too, but mainly you, hun."
Selene laughed, "Well he is over here, one sec."
She turned to Lily who ambushed her into a tight hug. Her red locks brushing against Selene who recognized the rose shampoo her friend used. "I'll see you next week," Lily whispered into her friends ear, "Have fun. Don't do anything I wouldn't do-"
"-and don't do anything I would." Marlene butted in, she was staying with the Evans for the first week as well seeing as her parents were off with dragons in Romania.
"I will be just fine." Selene nodded, breaking away from Lily's embrace. "I will see you next week."
"Alright, I will lead the way." Selene said, leading her parents to her him.
Potter manor was just as beautiful in the summer as it was back in December. The manor had big oak doors with beams twice the size holding up the ceiling of the front porch. The oak trees matching the door, the leaves were a gorgeous shade of green. Selene had been there for a day and already was in love with the building.
She adored the Potter's new house elf, Trixie. She was a small little elf with tennis ball shaped eyes and medium shaped pointy ears. She was very kind and kept asking the girl if she needed anything, (perhaps blueberry scones)
Apparently Euphemia had been going around the manor before her arrival getting all the different types of food that James had told his mother Selene enjoyed. Euphemia who had insisted that Selene called her "Mia", had been spending a lot of time with the seventeen year old knitting and talking about her years at Hogwarts and how her and Fleamont had met. Selene enjoyed the company of the woman, she was very kind and reminded her a lot of as if she was a mix of Minerva Mcgonagall and her own mother.
Fleamont Potter was a very humorous man who reminded Selene a lot of James. The man still held a lot of what some might say "children attributes". He went around the manor pranking James, earning shouts from his wife who just couldn't seem to stay mad at him for very long. Something both him and Selene shared was their sarcasm. Selene immediately took a liking for him, but in all honesty how could you not?
Selene had been staying in the Potter's guest room across the hall to James' bedroom. The two had stayed up the night before just talking, It was very nice. Remus had already owled the girl asking if she survived, James then angrily wrote back that she was more then fine, much to her amusement.
Much to her dismay, James had insisted she learned how to play quidditch. The last time she had ridden on a broom she wasn't actually flying it, more riding. Now though she was completely riding and steering the broom. James had multiple extra broom in his broom closet outside on the small quidditch field. She took the position of keeper, as for James she had no clue what position he was taking as it seemed as he was switching in between positions. She could claim she was brilliant at the sport but that would be a plain out lie, she was absolutely dreadful at the sport. On a broom she looked as if she were having a fit. It made her flush red with mortification and James laugh.
Fleamont and Euphemia were watching the teenagers from inside smiling softly, "I always liked her." he commented, "Me too, she is good for him."
