28 - i think he knows

"So you told him all that to his face?" Marlene said with a huge grin painted on her face.

"Pretty much, yes." Selene responded, brushing out her mess of brunette hair.

"YES." Alice squealed from the bathroom, "We don't wait for people, good for you."

Selene grinned, "Thank you. Lily? your thoughts?" she turned to the red-head who was just looking at her.

"I like it." was all Lily responded with, and with that she left the dorm room.

"Weird." Marlene whispered, "Whatever! Ah! Sel, I cannot wait to be the god mother of your future kid! I am going to teach them priorities and how to be so cool, just like me."

"Well you will be god mother of my first born. Just like we promised."

"I better be." Marlene taunted, "And I don't think I will be having children. I just want to travel — actually, maybe I could with the right person."

"Is Dorcas the right person?" Selene asked.

"Oh me and Dorcas are no longer." Marlene said casually, smiling at Selene. "We have different plans, I now am going out with a seventh year, Mary Macdonald."

"Oh!" Selene said in surprise, her eyebrows rising. "Well, I am very happy for you!"

"Thank you, Sel."

Selene, Marlene, and Alice made their way down to the great hall for breakfast. The smell of toast met their nostrils with delight and the sound of chatter.

"I am prepared!" Marlene grumbled, pouting slightly at Alice. "No, preparing isn't just sitting in the library with the intention of studying, no actual work takes place ever."

"Well, my intentions are good, that's what matters. Don't you agree?" The blonde turned to Selene with hopeful eyes.

"Right." Selene sang.

The trio turned into the great hall to find something odd. The marauder had split into two. Remus and Peter and James and Sirius. Lily sitting by James, whispering to him. Selene looked at the pair and it felt like a shard of glass to her heart.

Her face fell for a second — but only a second. She slathered on a smile, a genuine one. No matter how much it hurt, she would always be happy for her best friend's success.

She approached the group. Remus looked up with a smile that didn't quite meet his eyes. "Good morning." He said.

"Wow," Marlene started quite loudly, "You could cut the tension in here with a damn knife."

Alice and Selene both looked over at her, shaking of their heads. "So not he time." Alice whispered with a worried expression on her face.

"Sit down." Remus said.

The three girls looked at the table then to each other and then back to the table. Marlene sat down next to Peter and swung her arm around her shoulders, "Ah Petey Pete Peter," she sighed, "You know I have your back." She winked and the blonde mousy boy went completely red in the face. Alice took the seat next to Lily. The rest of the group all turned to Selene to see where she would land. Selene pursed her lips in annoyance, it was picking a damn side of an argument she had no idea what it was about.

So she didn't pick a side, she picked the middle. She sat in the space between James and Remus. It was awkward but she couldn't possibly pick. "Well this is very odd." The brunette commented looking at everyone.

"Yes." Peter squealed, "Sirius is a snitch!"

They all turned to Peter, Selene rolling her eyes, surely, Sirius Black was a lot of things but not a snitch. "I am not." Sirius replied dryly. Remus made a tutting sound.

"Pete, you did just snitch?" Sirius rose a brow.

Selene turned to Remus and whispered so only the sandy-haired boy could hear, "What happened?"

"Let's go to our spot." Remus whispered back. The two friends had found a secret spot back in second year. A place where they could read together and talk about random things. It was an abandoned classroom that was on the third floor. In the classroom there was a closet that was very big with a lot of shelfs which the small children would sit in. Selene even brought blankets and pillows to make it comfortable. Remus was always in charge of the snacks.

Selene nodded and got up with him. She waved to her friend who all waved back in confusion.

The two made their way to the abandoned classroom. It was huge, they always wondered why someone deserted it.

Selene walked past the dusty old desks to the back of the room to the closet. Remus opened the door to reveal their spot just as they left it.

"It's been awhile." Selene commented looking at the scene in front of the two. The shelves were almost crumbling and were very dusty. Cobwebs covered the ceiling. The Gryffindor blankets still littered the wobbly wooden floor boards. "Do you think it is still here?" Remus asked, "I'm not sure. Check." Selene responded.

Remus entered the closet and went to the corner, bent down and lifted a floor board. "It is." He said, with a small smile. "Our book and chocolate." Selene said with the same smile from behind the boy.

"Our book of mysteries." Remus corrected with a light laugh. "We were young geniuses, if you ask me." Selene said, taking the book from the floor. It was a red leather book with gold decorations and two stick figures with hearts. Remmy & Selene's book of mysteries.

"Merlin, what did we write in there?" Remus asked.

"Mcgonagall is the best teacher here, even if she is strict." Selene read aloud, she turned the page. "Sirius has BO." She looked up at Remus with pursed lips, "So, which one of us wrote that one?"

"That would be me. He didn't know what deodorant was for awhile and would get sweaty a lot."

Selene nodded, "All this page has is a picture of Peter sleeping in the bathroom?"

"Yeah," Remus said.

"Yeah? That's all you have to say about this one?"

Remus nodded.

"We were trying so hard to be funny." Selene shook her head, "I mean some of these are, but others are just not."

"We tried." Remus shrugged.

"Okay okay, so what is with the awkwardness in the great hall?" Selene asked, joining him on the floor.

"Sirius thought it would be really hilarious to send Sni- Snape down to the whomping willow last night — on the full moon." Selene gasped "No."

"Yep, so then Snape went down and caught a glimpse of me in transition, so now Snape knows. Thankfully Sirius told James what he told Snape so James went and saved Snape from... me."

"I'm sorry." Selene whispered, taking Remus' hand and giving it a comfort squeeze.

Selene found Snape in the library. Though, it was Sirius who told Snape to go down the the whomping willow. Snape should never of actually gone. So, she found Snape to talk to him.

"I know we have never got along very well." she started, "that's an understatement." Snape scoffed. Selene rolled her eyes, and sat down next to the Slytherin. He stiffened as she held her stare on the side of his face. "He doesn't hurt people." she pointed out blankly. "He is a monster!" Snape shrieked.

Selene scrunched her face up in disgust, "You're prejudice. It was none of your business to go looking. You cannot tell anyone." Snape scoffed and looked at her with threatening eyes. Selene didn't let that phase her as she said, "Don't do it for the boys, do it for Lily." Snape's eyes softened at the mention of the red head, they both adored.

"Fine." he grumbled. "Thank you." she thanked, and with that she turned curtly and left.
