17 one step forward, three steps back
.+*^. "I DON'T HAVE REGRETS." .^*+.
Selene was currently walking alone in the corridors, in the early mornings of February. A few weeks back, Alice had told her to go and talk to James to solve the amortentia problem before actual problems arise.
Did Selene agree to talk to him? Yes.
Did she actually talk to him? Absolutely not.
Yes, she had planned to talk to him and be mature but then... she made the mistake of opening up to Marlene.
Who was very surprised to say the least and told Selene to be petty and wait for him to talk to her since it was not her fault he is having problems.
So she was now walking down the corridor in denial that anything was wrong. Because that is a stellar way to deal with your problems.
The Gryffindor girl was hoping to get in some extra reading before breakfast. She was innocently walking down the corridors with the book in her arms. She was just passing an open corridor when an arm reached out and pulled her into an empty classroom.
She gasped in surprise when the door slammed behind her. Selene turned around to shoot a glare at whoever had just disrupted her morning but she was met with her ex. Ick.
Aiden Kane
"What do you want?" She scoffed, in disbelief that he had the audacity to pull her into a classroom when he broke up with her.
"I just want to talk to you." He replied cooly.
Selene rolled her eyes and scoffed once more, "You lost that privilege when you ended it." And just like that she passed him to make her way to the door,
"Wait!" Aiden hissed, "If you leave, you will regret it hugely."
"I don't have regrets."
And just like that she walked out. But now without him muttering, "This is all because of Potter."
.....
Alice. The only girl in what Selene likes the call the 'Gryffindor Bunch' to be committed to someone.
Selene thought the reason as to why she was slightly perfect was of her soul. Sure Alice was absolutely stunning but she also possesses the most wholesome soul.
So, she would definitely have had the best advice on what to do with her whole Amortentia boy situation, right? Or perhaps the girl in the bunch who has it the most together, who also so happens to be the only red head female currently in the sixth year. Also the girl who is getting serenaded by who? James Potter. Why am I surprised? I am such a darn fool, to think he was over her.
It was now February 14th, most people call it Valentine's day, single people call it misery.
Sweet comic valentine
James was up on the table in the great hall singing dramatically. His wand held up to his throat to amplify his pathetic excuse of a tone.
Is your Figure less than Greek?
Lily scoffed, shooting James a glare. "How dare you!" She squeaked out, "You have no respect for me, or others." She put emphasis on others.
Each day is Valentine's day
He finished, "My Lily-Flower did you not love my sweet heartfelt song to my one true love?"
To everyone's surprise, Lily stood up walked over to the bespectacled boy and, SMACK! She had smacked James Potter across the face. She then leaned closer to him to where her mouth almost met his ear and whispered, "Playing with girls. I really didn't think you could stoop that low, Potter."
And just like that Lily Evans left. Leaving everyone with their jaws dropped and bewildered at what the Gryffindor princess had just done.
.....
"SELENE, SELENE," LILY PRACTICALLY screeched, as she ran up to the confused brunette "I have gone corrupt!"
"I have to admit, I have seen this coming." Selene replied, looking mock thoughtful.
Lily stopped, "You knew this was happening?" Her eyes wide. "Yes." Selene responded simply. The red head had dragged the girl out with her to the courtyard after what Marlene has already named the "Potter-Smack-A-Whack' Situation. Their next class, Herbology was about to start (Lily had joined Selene's class, after she had dropped ancient runes, to the gingers dismay)
"So you knew Potter was going to serenade me? And you were okay with it?" Lily asked, looking absolutely gobsmacked. "No, I knew that someday you were going to go corrupt." Selene replied simply.
"Trust me when I say I had no idea he was playing me this whole time." She added bitterly. Lily put a comforting hand on the girls shoulder, Selene gave her a confirming smile as to say 'I don't blame you' In all truth Selene could never be angry with Lily, some girls would be angry at herin this situation but Sel knew not to blame Lily.
"Besides," Selene started, with a proud smile on her face, "It seems like you took care of Potter for the both of us."
Lily Evans, for what it seems like the first time of her life, smirked.
Suddenly, Marlene came running up to the pair with a wide grin etched on her face. "Lily that was amazing!" She spluttered, "I mean you slapped James Potter. Nobody does that. You are so hot." Lily's face went completely red as she scoffed in reply, "I mean I was always joking about you being my wife but now, i don't think it's a joke anymore." Selene smirked, "I know right, Marls?"
"I always knew you would loose it one of these days. You had to ruin the good girl act." Marlene smirked approvingly, high fiving the brunette as they laughed.
Selene found her laughs half hearted. She would of normally found this whole ordeal very entertaining but there were pangs of hurt in her heart. She felt dumb. How could she fall for James Potter's antics? He probably thought it was one big joke.
James Potter was an almost. She almost had him. He was an almost lover to her. And she was going to have to be okay with that.
The pain she was feeling was that she wasn't an almost to him. He had her and she fell for him. It was fast and hard and she was entranced with him. She was in denial about it for a while and just as she had figured it out when, this happened.
But she felt grateful. The brunette was surrounded with people she loved and cared for very much. And there will be others, other loves, other heartbreaks, and lastly but most importantly, healing.
In plus, who really knew what the future held for them?
.....
SELENE WAS DREADING her next hour. Why you may ask? It was potions. And who did she sit next to in this lovely subject? James.
She hesitantly walked into the classroom. This was also her least favorite subject (not including arthimancy which she dropped as fast as she could) and least favorite classroom, she did not care much for the dungeons.
All that her mind was thinking of was about how much of a bloody disaster this was. They were never officially together and it was already a mess.
Selene took her seat in the middle row next to the famous Quidditch captain, James Fleamont Potter. She set up her ink and quill and cauldron as far away as she could from him. She really had no plans to associate herself with him. Further to her dismay two other amazing things had happened already and the class had not even started. one: James tried to wave to her, he actually tried to wave to her. two: she was out of her muggle gum. What a travesty.
James was confused to say the least. Why was she so angry with him? He was normally an oblivious boy, he could admit that much. So when he actually noticed her odd behavior he was shocked. They were doing so good at Christmas. They were going to talk about them and then the first day back they were fine and then ever since amortentia she had been stone cold.
So like any other bloke, he thought annoying her to wits end was the only logical way to get her back. I mean he was infatuated with the girl for merlins sake.
Poke, Poke
He poked her arm with the tip of his wand to gain her attention, to his surprise she looked at him for the first time in godric knows how long! Progress, am I right?
Poke, Poke
He poked her again.
and again.
and again.
Finally, she looked back at him with this angry but beautiful eyes of hers and whisper shouted, "What do you want, Potter?"
Potter.
His face gave her a deadpan look, "Why call me Potter? We were at first name basis." She rolled her eyes at him and snorted, "Why are you talking normally to me? We aren't together, and we certainly are not friends."
"Only friends have first name basis," Selene started, "And you, well you are a prat who started things with me for the hell of it. You like the chase. Admit it, you are hopeless with Lily. I mean she bloody slapped you... Give it up and pay attention."
"Mr Potter, Miss Ray." Slughorn said, with a raised brow, "What are you doing talking while I am teaching? Detention, tonight my office, both of you."
Selene visibly gasped. This was not what she wanted. She wanted to continue in her petty little bubble of pretending James didn't exist.
James just shrugged, he was in his thoughts. Lily never slapped him. What was Selene on about?
This will be fun...
