13 - the potter manor
.."-'., "DID WE WALK IN ON SOMETHING?",.'-".
"READY?" LILY ASKED SELENE, the two witches were getting ready in Selene's bedroom for Potter's Christmas party. Selene had just finished her eyeliner after what seemed to be a thousand times. Who decided to make it so hard? Selene had thought.
The current date was, December 24th, tomorrow is Christmas day. Lily and Selene had just finished getting dressed and the red-haired girl was about to lightly curl Selene's hair.
"I always am," Selene replied, slightly checking herself out in the vanity ahead of her. "Are you excited?" Lily asked, twirling a piece of Selene's hair on the curling wand. Normally, Selene would just use a spell to curl her hair, but she was underage and currently at home. So, if she fancied being kicked out of school she had to resort to the muggle ways. "Yeah, I like James and Remus and you so, I have my people to hang out with," she replied.
"I will be sticking by you all night," Lily replied, "unless, I find a cute guy."
Selene laughed, "Future husband?" "Perhaps," Lily smirked.
.....
SELENE AND LILY ARRIVED AT the Potter Manor, James had owned Selene the previous night saying, to floo over to his house at 7:00 sharp. "Welcome, Selene and Lily." Fremont Potter said, patting Selene's back, "Euphemia insisted you came an hour early so you could hang out with James and his friends... go ahead and head upstairs, you will know which room is James' from the noise."
The brunette witch laughed and the ginger smiled.
Selene and Lily made their way up to where the sound of laughs was coming from, they approached the door where they heard the voice of Sirius Black, "Come on, Moony..."
Sirius' voice was cut off with Lily knocking on the door, the door opened to reveal Sirius Black in a Mrs.Claus costume holding up what appeared to be a Santa Clause costume. James was sitting beside Remus with a red nose and reindeer antlers. Peter who was the one who had opened the door was laughing at the scene unfolding ahead of them. Lily and Selene exchanged a questionable look as is said, "What did we just walk in on...?".
"No, Sirius," Remus replied dryly peering up from his book spotting the two girls, Lily looking horrified and Selene looking... well amused.
"Did we walk in on something?" Selene asked smirking, "You see, Padfoot?" Remus said pointing to Lily, "You have traumatized the poor girl."
Sirius looked over at Lily and then at Selene and then at James and smirked, "Prongs, it's both of your future women in your bedroom!"
"I am so not interested," Lily scoffed, "Selly, perhaps."
Selene shot a glare at Lily, "So Peter, will you be dressing up as well?" Peter looked at her and then to a grinning Sirius, "No I am not. I want to keep classy." Sirius dropped his grin and sat down on James' bed, threw the covers over himself, and pouted. "Mature," Lily said simply.
Selene looked over at James who hadn't said anything yet, he was just staring at her. Selene looked back at him, meeting his gaze for a few seconds, "So, Lily and I are doing New Year at my house this year. Just show up sometime before eleven, I don't care when." Selene shrugged as she plopped down beside Lily on an armchair.
"Sounds good," James replied, "You look nice, Sel."
"Thank you, James."
Remus, Sirius, and Lily exchanged a knowing glance, Peter who had now moved back to his corner looked oblivious.
.....
"SO LOVELY TO MEET YOU, SELENE," EUPHEMIA POTTER greeted, "James has told me so much."
"So nice to meet you too, Mrs. Potter," Selene started but was interrupted, "Oh please, call me Euphemia." Euphemia said, "So nice to meet you, Euphemia." Selene smiled.
This was Selene's first time meeting James' mother. James and Selene had hung out before, out of school, sure. It always was at Remus' or Selene's.
Saying James' house was beautiful was an understatement. It had a warm feel to it and you could tell there was a lot of love within the walls. There were pictures of James when he was young and pictures with his friends hung up on the wall. The parlor was huge but very homely, two couches and a coffee table sat in the middle of the room.
Selene had ended up buying the red dress Lily had suggested she bought. It was beautiful. It hugged her curves beautifully. The dress ended mid-thigh. She paired it with a golden locket and accompanying it was a gold choker with a half-moon hanging from it. Her hair was completely down but flowed freely, her brown locks sat right below her collarbone, the ends of her hair curling up slightly making her hair look more voluminous.
"Your friend, Lily is in the kitchen helping me prepare. Do you want to help? Otherwise, I made some cookies earlier, you could sit and munch on those." The older woman smiled warmly. "Of course, I will help," Selene responded.
Euphemia led Selene through the french double doors leading into the kitchen. There sat Lily, organizing welcome cards, "Selene, you can place the cookies on this platter for guests."
Selene nodded and walked over to where Euphemia had pointed over the counter where frosted cookies sat on a pan next to a festive platter.
The cookies were very cute, they were shaped like snowflakes, with icy blue icing and edible glitter. Euphemia loved to bake, especially for others. She baked cakes, cupcakes, macaroons, and cookies. It was a hobby she had indulged in ever since her days at Hogwarts.
Selene finished setting the cookies onto the platter just as the one and only himself walked in, James. He leaned on the doorway and was watching her, for how long, she didn't know for sure.
Lily had left the kitchen to change into her dress since the guest was set to arrive any moment.
"Hi," Selene said as she looked up to see James approaching her, "Hey." he responded as he watched her, "How have your holidays been so far?" the brunette asked, "Good," James responded.
A few moments passed as they stared at each other, James was about to speak when Peter walked in, "Prongs," the towhead blonde started, "Sirius is belting Santa Claus is coming to town, in the parlor, Lily and Remus look traumatized. Selene scoffed but, her lips tugged up in amusement, as for James, he started to laugh and walk out to see Sirius' wonderful performance.
Selene was about to go find Euphemia to see if there was anything more to be done before she could leave to find the witch, James came barging back in and grabbed her hand, and dragged her out, "Wha-" Selene started but was cut off, "Come see Sirius sing." James said shortly, "We still need to talk... But not today, let's wait for when we are back at school."
AN: YAY! Euphemia and Selene will have an iconic relationship. I just went and planned this entire book to the very end... there may even be a next-generation sequel to this book 👀 Still deciding if that will happen...
