THE NEXT MORNING was horrible. The piercing bright light had made its way into the girl's dormitory. Normally this wouldn't bother the girls, but they did have a fun very late night of talking and drinking butterbeer. Lily had returned just in time for the planned hangout, claiming she went off studying.

Marlene groaned smashing her face back into her pillow, however, Lily and Alice were up already doing their hair.

"How are you guys doing that?" Selene questioned.

"You see Sel, I take the brush, and brush it through my hair like this," Alice said in a mocking tone.

Selene smiled sarcastically shooting a glare at Alice, "We were up till three in the morning. I am tired."

Alice laughed, "No, you and Marlene were. Lily and I were in bed."

She finally got out of bed to get ready for the day. "I am not ready for the first day of potions." Selene huffed.

"It will be fun! besides Slughorn always puts you and I as potion partners." Lily reassured

The four walked into the great hall for breakfast. It was a beautiful day, the sun was out and shining as always. The great hall was filled with the usual giggles and chatter.

Selene plopped down on the seat in between Lily and Marlene. Alice strolled off to sit with Frank.

The brunette stared to shoveled eggs and toast onto a plate. Spreading  raspberry jam onto the piece of toast (the best flavor of jam, by the way!)

"Thank you for the potion Lils," Marlene said while slowly eating a piece of toast.

Of course Lily knew a potion to make Marlene feel better from their long night.

The three were talking normally about their classes for the day and, what homework they need to complete. Until there was yelling coming from a few spots over, "Oi Ray!" Sirius shouted.

Selene looked over to see Sirius, Remus, Peter, and James looking over at her. Selene rolled her eyes before saying "Yes Black?"

"Is it true that James called you Selly and then you hexed him?"

Selene glared at James and then sarcastically smiled to Sirius "Yes it is... and I would do it again."

It was safe to say that James Potter for once in his life looked horrified.

Marlene laughed and nudged Selene, "What did you do to him?" Selene laughed alongside her. It seemed everyone was laughing except Lily and James.

"Traumatized him for life." Remus added.

"I may or may not have used the bat-bogey hex." Selene whispered

From far away you would not have been able to see it but there was in face a small smile on James' face at the sight of this.

"Welcome to Potions class!" Slughorn called out to everyone standing in front of him waiting to be seated. "I will begin to read off the potion partners for this year."

Malfoy with Rosier
Fortescue with Longbottom
Pettigrew with Wilson
Black with Bulstrode
Lupin with Evans

Lily and Selene gave exchanged a confused look They were always seated with each other, since the first year.

"And finally..." Slughorn continued "Ray with Potter."

Of course, Marlene was stifling a laugh.

Selene walked over to where James was sitting, she plopped her book bag on the floor beside her chair and then sat down beside James. "Well this will be fun" James smirked. Selene hummed in acknowledgment.

Slughorn walked up to the chalkboard and wrote down five questions, "For today we are getting to know each other, ask each other these questions on the chalkboard and write them down."

Selene looked up at the board and wrote down the first question, 'What's your favorite potion?'

Selene glanced over at James before asking "So Potter, What is your favorite potion?"

James smirked again, "Amortentia."

"Alright, mine is..." Selene thought for a moment and then a thought popped into her head and her lips tugged upwards "Poison." James' eyes widened in what seemed to be...horror?

Selene grinned, "Mine is actually Felix Felicis."

The two went back and forth asking each other questions and seemed to be enjoying it actually.

At the end of class, Slughorn floated their papers up to his desk, Selene and James' looking... well have a look for yourself.

Question 1 : What is your favorite potion?
Selene: Felix Felicis
James: Amortentia

Question 2: What is your Patronus?
Selene: Occamy
James: Stag

Question 3: What is your favorite color?
Selene: Ultra Violet
James: Red

Question 4: Do you have any interesting things about yourself you want to share with Professor Slughorn?

Selene: I'm average? I don't know?
James: Oh so many things, but why must I share?

James and Selene walked out of the dungeons together, "I don't think he will like our answers very much." Selene laughed.

"I'm not sure, Ray, I loved our answers."

The next day was a breezy, slightly cloudy day.

Selene needed to meet James for studying in the courtyard, the fact that he needed help with muggle studies baffled her.

Nonetheless, she would help him until he at least got a passing grade.

Selene was making her way towards the big oak tree in the courtyard, hugging her jumper close to her body trying to shield herself from the wind as much as possible.

Surprisingly she and James' had the same schedule as one another (not including herbology)

James had not arrived yet so Selene took the time to work on reading her poetry book 'The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson"

The girl absolutely adored to read poetry. It was so beautiful.

Selene must have gotten so caught up in the reading that when she looked at her watch, it was an hour after James was supposed to meet her.

Where was he?
