Chapter Three pt.2
Stevie's POV
I say bye to Lia and her family after we finish face timing with Luke. Calum has been texting me since I gave him my number. I walk home holding my bag in my hand.
"Hey," I hear someone shout. I continue to walk, keeping my head down and ignoring the shout my way. "Don't ignore me." She says. I hear her footsteps approaching me and I sigh, stopping. "Hey." She says, voice softer this time.
"What do you want?" I ask harshly. I hear her chuckle and she grabs my arm, turning me around.
"How have you been?" She asks, reaching towards my face. I flinch away, not wanting her to touch me. Her touch only bringing back bad memories. "Come on Steve." She says, using the nickname she gave me.
"No, you're not good for me." I say, stepping back.
"I know I messed up but-" before she can finish my phone starts ringing. I mentally thank god, pulling my phone out and holding it to my ear.
"Hello," I say, not even bothering to check who it is.
"Hey, it's Calum. I just wanted to talk." He says sweetly. "Can you talk?" He asks.
"Y-yeah. I can." I say, turning away from her and walking away.
"You okay, you sound shaky?" He asks softly.
"P-please just stay on the phone with me for a little while longer. Please." I beg softly, scared she's following me.
"Yeah, yeah. Of course." He says, concern lacing his voice. "Are you okay? What's going on?" He asks quickly.
"Just an old ex." I say, glancing behind me to thankfully seeing that she's not there.
"Sorry, they're all annoying. Trust me, I know." He says with a chuckle, his deep voice ringing through out the phone. I smile to myself humming a yes.
"Totally." I say, laughing a little.
"Does Lia have a crush on Luke?" He asks, catching me off guard.
"Yes, she just won't admit it." I say, rolling my eyes.
"Same with Luke. He's scared she doesn't like him." He says, laughing a little.
"Ironic." I say, biting my lip. I walk up to my flat door and unlock it, quickly stepping inside.
"I know right. Is your ex still there?" He asks, sounding concerned again. I smile to myself, putting my stuff down.
"No, they're not." I say trying to avoid using female pronouns. What will he think if he knows I'm bi?
"Good. I'd have to fly out there and beat 'em up." He says, huffing at the end. I laugh a little, sitting on the couch.
"Sadly, I don't think that'll need to happen. I've got things handled." I say softly.
"Just let me feel manly." He says, sass in his voice.
"Okay! Sorry Mr. Manly Man." I say sarcastically.
"Hmph." He says. I laugh, stretching out and closing my eyes.
"You're so sassy. That's my job. You're the manly one and I'm the sassy one." I say, smiling.
"Fine. But I'll still out-sass you." He says, laughing softly.
"Sure, whatever makes you happy." I say, making him scoff. We sit in silence for a little and I feel myself drift off to sleep more.
"You're tired, huh?" He asks, voice soft.
"Yeah, we were up late last night." I say, quietly.
"Go to sleep. Call me later." He says, voice hushed now.
"No I'm fine. I don't want my ex to come to my door anyway. You're my excuse to not talk to her." I say. I gasp, cursing at myself for using her.
"Are you bi?" He asks, hearing it too.
"Y-yeah." I say, cheeks flushing.
"Cool. Ashton is too." He says. I instantly relax and I smile. "Just go to sleep. I'll stay on the phone with you." He says.
"You don't have to." I say, smiling, wanting to say yes to his offer.
"Just let me." He says, huffing.
"Okay! Fine," I say, closing my eyes again, smile never leaving my face.
__
I slowly open my eyes, realizing it's dark in my flat. I yawn and I see my phone on the ground. I pick it up and walk into the kitchen, turning on the kettle. I start humming to myself, One Direction to be exact.
"Stevie?" I hear on the other end.
"Calum? You're still on the phone?" I ask, picking it up.
"Of course. I said I was going to." He says, laughing softly.
"Thank you. I appreciate it." I say, blushing deeply.
"So, did you dream about me?" He asks. I can hear the smirk in his voice and I bite my lip, laughing.
"Hmm, maybe. Did I talk in my sleep?" I ask, knowing I didn't.
"You're so cheeky." He says, chuckling.
"I know, it's a gift." I say, resting against the counter. "I'm going to let you go. You sound beyond tired." I say, realizing how his voice is laced with sleep.
"No, I'm fine." He says, trying to sound awake.
"Sure. Goodnight Calum." I say, making a kissy noise into the phone.
"Goodnight, love." He says in a sing-songy tone. I hang up the phone and curse at myself. My smile never leaving my lips.
