Chapter 7: Eternal Light
Zentropolis had fallen into darkness, with only the faint glow of the Neon Valkyrie's suit cutting through the void. As Lyria stood at the summit of the Obsidian Spire, facing Umbra, the world's last moments of light flickered like dying embers. Her body felt heavy, her mind clouded from the repeated use of the Eclipse Protocol, and the darkness seemed ready to consume her.
Umbra loomed before her, more monstrous than ever, his form a swirling vortex of dark matter, tendrils of shadow reaching toward Lyria like claws ready to rip her apart. His voice echoed like thunder across the shattered skyline.
"Submit, Neon Valkyrie. The Abyss is eternal. Your light is nothing but a fleeting illusion."
Lyria gritted her teeth, refusing to let despair take over. Her body ached from the battles, her energy drained, but the thought of losing the city and its people to Umbra's eternal night fueled her resolve. The Eclipse Protocol was almost spent; using it again could kill her, but there was no other choice. She had one final gamble.
Her AI companion, Omega, pinged in her helmet. "Lyria, there's one last surge of power left in the protocol, but if you use it, your system will overload. There's no guarantee you'll survive."
Lyria looked down at her glowing palms, feeling the pulse of light energy trying to burst through her suit. The last reserve of the protocol wasn't just enough for one final strike—it was enough to completely annihilate the Obsidian Spire and possibly the entire city.
"Then we make sure it's a strike that counts," Lyria whispered, her eyes blazing with determination. "Let's finish this."
With a deep breath, Lyria charged forward. Umbra unleashed waves of shadow, but this time, she was faster. Her suit began to crackle with intense, blinding energy, a combination of light and cyber-power burning with the strength of a supernova. As Umbra's shadow tendrils wrapped around her, tightening like a noose, she activated the final stage of the Eclipse Protocol.
Suddenly, Lyria's entire body erupted into a beacon of pure light, cutting through the darkness like a blade. Umbra howled in agony as the intense light pierced his form, burning away the shadows. But Lyria wasn't done. Channeling all the remaining energy, she grabbed Umbra's core—a swirling black mass—and used the last of her strength to pull him into the sky.
"You're not taking this world," she growled, her voice filled with rage and defiance. "Not today. Not ever."
With one final, desperate cry, Lyria launched herself and Umbra into the atmosphere. The sky ignited as the two forces collided, creating a cataclysmic explosion of light and shadow. From the ground, Zentropolis looked like it was being engulfed by a second sun. The entire city was bathed in radiant light, brighter than the sun, as the Obsidian Spire shattered, disintegrating into dust.
For a moment, there was silence.
