Shadows of the past
Pulling me to itself,
To its darkness,
Claiming my peace,
Flaming those fears;
Back to life.

Overpowering my positivity,
My hold on my beliefs,
Questioning my present,
Threatening it.
My heart not willing to give in,
Try to fight back.

Those haunted memories,
That regretful incident,
Which once robbed my joys,
Challenges my happiness yet again.
This time, it shall witness...
A tougher opponent in me.

I'm not letting it rule my life,
No longer it will define me.
For long, it subjected me;
To those unwanted sadness.
I'm determined this time,
To put the past to where it belongs.
