Its been a year
The pain, the heartbreak,
I can't seem to move on
The empty space in my heart,
Everyone says you're gone
But where have you gone?

I wake up everyday
Without you by my side
I heard your laugh just now
I turned, why'd you hide?

I looked for you
In your favourite armchair
Sitting and smiling at me
You weren't there

Why did you leave me?

I wish you were there
When I held our grandchild

Her eyes are clear blue,
Mischievious just like mine,
I'm sure you would say

It's been four years;
She's growing up too fast
Her blonde hair long, like mine
The pain seems to be growing,
I can't fight back anymore
I'm not sure if I have time

"Granny, will you be happy there?"
My angel asks me,
I nod at her with a tear on my cheek
Our family is here, gathered around me,
So much love if I choose to stay
But their love is not what I seek

I close my eyes
Until there is nothing
Nothing but your hand in mine
I open my eyes,
Clutching your hand tighter
I won't let you go this time.
