JADE SLEPT well that night, and she almost woke up late the next morning. She hurriedly threw a blouse and skirt on, carrying her robes in one hand and her flats in the other as she ran to get breakfast. Mandy and Terry sat at the table, discussing the outcome of the Quidditch match between the Ballycastle Bats and Falmouth Falcons.

"I can't believe the Falcons have such aggressive Beaters again." Terry exclaimed, slamming the Daily Prophet down on the table.

"They haven't seen anyone that aggressive since the Broadmoor brothers."

"Who won the match?" Jade inquired, sitting next to Mandy and putting sausage on her plate.

"The Falcons did, but only because they play dirty." She mumbled, setting her copy of the Prophet down.

Jade didn't follow Quidditch much, unless it was the matches at Hogwarts, but she knew Terry and Mandy hated the Falmouth Falcons. They had two teams they supported, the Holyhead Harpies and the Kenmare Kestrels, though they were supportive of every team.

"How'd the Harpies and Kestrels do?" She asked while chewing on a fried egg.

"The Harpies lost their match, only by a small amount though. They've been doing great this year." Terry replied, flipping the page in his newspaper. "The Kestrels won, but they were against the Chudley Cannons, and everyone beats the Chudley Cannons."

That was the only other thing Jade knew about Quidditch: everyone beats the Chudley Cannons.

Before Jade could ask any more questions, Anthony came flying into the Great Hall, coming to a screeching halt in front of them. He sat down next to Terry and leaned in towards all three of them, moving his hand to try and draw them in closer.

"Did you hear? Harry Potter definitely got himself into a bit of trouble." He whispered, looking over his shoulder at the Gryfinndor table. Jade looked over as well, but did not see Harry or his friends sitting there yet.

"What happened?" Mandy asked, moving in closer to hear him.

"Umbridge made him angry and he lost his temper. You were right Mandy, he was given a bunch of detentions."

"What'd she say that made him so upset?"

"They got into a fight about..." Anthony trailed off, his hands balling into fists. "Voldemort."

Mandy let out a small gasp, her eyes widening in shock. The four of them believed Harry, but none of them would say the name of the monster that killed Cedric. That was, until now.

The four of them weren't close to Harry, but Terry had been one of Cedric's good friends, despite the three year age difference. Their families had been close for centuries, and when Cedric died, a piece of Terry died too. Jade knew him, he was always saying hello to her when they would pass each other and she had supported him in the Triwizard Tournament, but his death hadn't affected her like it affected Terry.

He was a shell for weeks, barely sending any letters to them, almost never coming to their weekly gatherings at Mandy's house. Jade figured that his death was the reason why he shaved his head, but she wasn't too sure.

"I don't care what she says, Voldemort killed Cedric." Terry muttered, staring down at his plate.

The four of them sat in silence, all of them slowly finishing their breakfast besides Terry, who had pushed his plate to the side and reread the Quidditch results.

The rest of the day had gone normally for Jade, she went to classes, she ate lunch with her friends in the Great Hall, and she had passed Luna multiple times in the corridors, always grinning at her. Were they dating? They hadn't exactly made it official, so Jade wasn't sure.

At the end of the day, around four, the students of Hogwarts piled out of the castle to enjoy the weather, which was surprisingly warm and sunny. Jade and Mandy collapsed under a giant tree, where Mandy watched the boys try and taunt the Giant Squid and Jade read a book. As she flipped the page, heavily invested in the story as it was about to reach the climax of the novel, she heard a soft humming come from her right.

Luna had sat next to them at some point, silent as she was, and was humming a simple tune while watching the boys with Mandy. When Jade turned to look at her, she smiled and turned her way.

"I saw you sitting here, so I decided to come over."

Jade just smiled and placed her bookmark inside the book. She was so close to the end, but Luna's aura just drew her in. The two of them sat there, watching Anthony, Michael, and Terry run around the lake, throwing pebbles into the water, while Mandy just giggled and stared at Anthony the whole time.

"Do you think they'll upset the Giant Squid?" Jade asked as Terry tried to lift a large rock to no avail.

"No, I don't think they will. The Squid has to be used to it by now." Luna replied, a smile growing on her face as Anthony and Terry struggled to carry the rock to the lake and toss it in. "Kids try every year to get it to come out, it hasn't happened in a while though."

"Well, those three are dumb enough to keep trying."

They laughed together, and Jade swore she had never heard a more angelic laugh than hers. She thought her voice was sweet, but her laugh was the sweetest thing she had ever heard. It was strange, Jade had dated other people before. She dated Ernie Macmillan her third year, though she could hardly stand him, and tried to date Rebecca Jenkins not long after. Then, of course, there was the short fling with Marcus Belby after they attended the Yule Ball together. But she had different feelings with Luna.

Sure, she liked Ernie at the time, and she was still friends with Rebecca and Marcus, but she had always looked at those relationships and feelings as temporary. With Luna, she felt something more permanent. She didn't just really like her, she felt a deeper affection.

But that was crazy, right?

While sitting there, under that tree with Luna and Mandy, Jade realized she was a lot more like her best friend than she wanted to admit.

She was definitely in love, she was absolutely crazy for her.
