PROLOGUE
Most people think it is impossible to feel no romantic feeling for anyone at all. But, I had unconsciously successfully reached that point, where I just couldn't feel that way. It felt like there was a blank space within me, like I was blank, like there was this wide empty space within me. No, I wasn't depressed at all and I was sure of that. I didn't feel extreme sadness or worthlessness, I rather felt really joyous and self-loved. It was something I knew people would find weird and disbelieve me, so I didn't tell people and kept it to myself instead. I was enjoying my life that way.
My brother was driving really fast towards the direction of the hostel as I arrived back in school. The SS3 students were allowed to go back to pack our luggage for a short trip that was planned for us, since we had finished our exams and were free. "You had better behave your deadarse on this trip ehn," my brother – Timini said to me with a smile, as he parked in the parking lot in front of the health bay.
I smiled as I nodded and hmmed at his words. "After all, I always behave myself," I tried to justify myself, making my sister – Tomike look away from her phone, busting into laughter.
"Like," she said in between her laughter.
Timini chuckled as he made his way to the boot of the car to bring out my bag. "You see how that your cap made Tomike look away from her phone," he said as he laughed. "It made the impossible possible. Please, don't raise the dead ma." He and Tomike laughed, making me scoff with a smile.
"I have no reply for both of you," I said with a smile, collecting my bag from Timini.
Tomike was twirling the tip of one of her grey two rows cornrows as she replied, "Before nko."
They both had a half wide smile on their faces as I walked towards them each, and hugged them. "Tell mom I said I'd be a good girl huh," I said with a smile as I walked away.
They smiled and nodded. "Sure will," Timini replied me, as Tomike got back to her phone.
I smiled and waved, as I began to walk away. But, I didn't walk far before Tomike said, "Hey Tinuke." I pause and turned back. "We love you," she stated with a smile as she ran her index finger between herself and Timini.
I smile and nodded. "I love you too." With that, I kept on walking, waving again.
Tinuke was the name they called me at home, because we decided to call each other our 'T' names. Hehe, silly right. We mostly had only each other while growing up, so we had a lot of time to do silly things together.
I smiled to myself as I pulled my bag behind me, pulling it towards the bus, which I sighted towards the administrative building. I was a little excited about the trip. I really liked meeting new people, but wasn't also really good at handling it. But I tried, and people said I was so good at it a lot, so.
I sighted Amarachi from afar, behind the bus trying to keep space. I smiled to myself as I approached the bus. I joined my bag to the bags the driver was putting in a space underneath the bus. I quickly got into the bus and made my way to the back of the bus. Esse was busy with her phone, while Amarachi was putting her legs - crossed - on the chair next to Esse as she rested her back on the wall of the bus, also tapping at her phone. "Sup girls," I greeted as I got to where they were, at the last bench or chairs.
"Yay! The queen has arrived," Amarachi hailed, making Esse and me chuckle as Amarachi dropped her legs from the chair, allowing Esse move to the chair her legs were on.
"They would not whine you o," I replied her with a smile as I sat on the chair Esse had been seating on.
"I don't whine," she replied with a smile.
"We don't do that here," Esse said with a smile, pressing the switch off button of her phone as she slipped it into the front pocket of her blue denim trousers.
I laughed. "You guys are not serious." I tried to remain calm, but my head was about to explode from joy.
Amarachi drew closer as she reduced the tone of her voice and whispered, "Guys."
Esse and I bent our heads, so we could hear her clearly as I replied, "What is it?"
"I heard that, the place that we are going to for this vacation that, they conduct mad challenges during these kind of vacations and that mad prices are given."
Esse shrugged. "I don't really care," she said nonchalantly.
"Neither do I," I added, making Amarachi scoff.
"K bro."
Esse and I chuckled.
"On your seat everyone," Mr. Demeji shouted. "We're moving soon, so if you want to use the toilet, use it now. No stopping on the road." With that, people stood and left for the toilet. The girls and myself didn't leave, but stayed put.
We were busy with our phones for the main time. It wasn't up to thirty minutes before Mr. Demeji began to call for everyone and we set off, beginning our journey. I had zero plans or expectations for the vacation, except for having fun and enjoying every minutes of the vacation.
I was really excited.
