CHAPTER 5
It was after six, almost 6:30 pm. We had gathered at Collin's room after dinner, which was around after five or six in the evening, his roommate was out. He said the guy hardly stayed in, and was out most of the time. We had dispersed and decided to go back to our room. But, I had an unnecessarily heavy mind. I was on my way to my room, when I felt it was best to visit the bar. Have something chilled, then head back to my room. Khalid wasn't so prominent in my mind anymore, but other things began to trouble me. I just felt uneasy. I tried to zone out the different kind of gossip my ear kept on slipping into. A huge number of them were about Khalid and his consistent winning of the game, how he was the game lord and couldn't be beaten at it. Most of them made me scoff and smile. He really had made himself a name. And deep down, I felt the strong urge to confront him, and beat him. But, I wasn't really in for it at that moment.
I slipped my hands into the front pocket of the hoodie I was wearing, as I entered the hall. To my surprise, it did have people in it. Quite a lot of people. I sighed to myself as I pushed my earphone further in my ear, making my way to the bar with my heads down. I had sat down and ordered plain lemonade, when I spun around to rest my back on the bar table. That was the moment I had sighted Khalid, and his squad. A girl was standing in front of him, like she was confessing her feelings to him or something. His friends were laughing, while he had a smile on. But how she left, it seemed like he had put her away nicely. I scoffed as I spun around back, placing my hand on the bar table, sipping from the lemonade that the bartender had placed in front of me. I bent my head a little, sighing every now and then.
It wasn't long before I felt the left ear of my earphone being pulled out. I reflexively lifted my head up, about to change it for who it was, only to be closely met with Khalid's face. He has the earphone in his ear. My lips spread into smile. "What is it were listening to?" he asked with a smile, as his eyes went down to my lips.
"Kina," I replied, backing up a little.
His brows furrowed. "Kina?"
I nodded. "'Can We Kiss Forever' by Kina."
His mouth formed a 'o'. "Cool." He took the seat beside me as he dropped the earphone.
I took another sip from the drink. "Are you fine?"
He nodded. "You?"
I nodded. And then, we felt into an uncomfortable silence. I began to quickly search for a way out of it. "So, I hear you're quite the gamer. Keeping steady records," I said, finally breaking the silence.
He smiled, bringing his right hand up and running it across his face. "And, where did you hear that from?"
"Your numerous fans," I scoffed, earning a wider smile from him. Uh. "They wouldn't shut up about it," I added.
He smirked. "Well, I was quite the gamer."
I scoffed. And, I started feeling the strong urge to challenge him. "How about we see about this one, uh?" I asked, challenging him.
He smiled with a smirk. "That's a really bold one, but I don't intend on competing this time around. I just want to have fun and leave this camp."
I scoffed. "Scardy cat."
"You say what?" he brought his ear closer to me.
"COWARD."
He scoffed. "I'm not."
"Yes you are boy, you 'bout to piss your pants that I'd win you on this one. That's why you wanna tap out," I said in a mockish way.
"No, I'm not."
"You're too."
"I'm not."
"Are too."
"Not."
"Too."
He shook his head, and kept quiet.
"Too afraid to lose to a girl," I said with a smirk as I gulped down the last of my lemonade and stood up. "I don't mess with cowards," I joked.
But, it seemed like he didn't catch on the joking tone, as he jumped up from his seat as if to follow me. "Okay then, let's do it. Challenge accepted."
I smiled to myself. "Okay then."
My eyes went to where the girl had been in the afternoon, and someone one still there. But, it was another girl who was there. Seemed like it was a till light out service. I nodded to him. So, we made our way to where she was. When the girl sighted him, her lips spread into a really wide smile that, I began to question if the side of her lips didn't hurt. "Hey Khalid," she said with a cherry like voice.
He smiled and nodded to her. "Hey." With that, he bent and began to register. She kept on smiling and looking at him.
"I'm in the competition too Kahlid," she informed him.
"Oh, good for you." He stepped aside, so I could register.
She frowned at me. I scoffed and registered.
"Done?" he asked me.
"Done," I replied with a smile, so it could pain her even more. With that, I walked out of the hall, Khalid followed behind me.
"Hey Silly," he called behind me, making me smile as I turned. He smiled. "Can I be given the honor of receiving your number?"
I smiled with a scoff. "Well, wouldn't that be too easy?"
"Come on," he whined. "I'm begging ma'am. Please ma'am."
I smiled. "080********. Goodnight." With that, I began to make my way to the stairs.
"Goodnight," he replied.
I had a smile plastered on my face as I made my way to my room.
Tosin was curled up under her blanket when I got to the room, she seemed like she wanted to be left alone. So I went to have my bath first, then get changed into my nightie. I then sat on my bed and began to tap at my phone. It was around 11:30 pm that I had gotten a message from someone I presumed was Khalid. And, as presumed, it was him. We talked for a while, and he told me about how he hoped that I don't regret the game stuff. And he also didn't shut up about how I was one of the most bold girls he had met, that no girl had ever been pretty bold to approach him like I did.
He made me laugh and smile a lot. I was happy.
