CHAPTER 12

Tosin had slept off while she was crying, so I had laid her down on her bed and went to shower. Her story made me feel really sad for her. No wonder she kept to herself a lot. It must have been really hard keeping to herself though. To watch people playing around and being happy, while she wallowed in pain and anger. I kept on sighing every now and then. It was really sad.

I was still thinking about her story when I heard rustling from Tosin's bed, making me seat up to look at her bed side. Her eyes was swollen, and she looked like she was really weak and could use some help standing. "Thank you," she said in a raspy voice, smiling gentling to me.

"For what?" I asked.

"For listening to be cry and being there, duh."

I smiled back. "Oh please, you'd do same for me."

She nodded with a shrug. "True that."

We fell into some seconds of silence before she said, "I really can't believe I told you that," she commented with a smile, making me smile too. "I hardly ever tell anyone. In fact, I never tell anyone. But, it felt good though. It makes me feel lighter."

I kept my smile on. "That's good."

She nodded.

My phone began to ring immediately, making me check the caller. It was Esse, she was calling to ask where I was, that it was lunch time and they had been waiting for my call. I quickly apologized and told her I was coming.

I was about to leave, when I remembered Tosin. "Hey. It's lunch time. Want to go together?" I asked.

She shook her head. "Nah, I'm fine."

I chuckled. "'Twas worth the try."

She chuckled as we both waved bye and I left.

As I made my way to the guys, I felt glad I hadn't told the guys about what happened to Tosin, that rainy night. I had hurried and met them quite in time. We had lunch and converged back in my room.

Khalid had asked to meet, but I told him I was booked with my friends and couldn't ditch them. He was fine with it, and decided to spend time with his friends also. We were randomly talking and operating our phones, when Tosin walked into the room.

"Hey guys," she greeted in a calm tone, making us exchanged glances amongst ourselves.

"Well, well, well," Joseph said with a smile, making us all laugh, including Tosin.

"How are you?" Toyosi asked with a nod.

"Good." She kept her reply short.

Toyosi nodded.

"You?" she then asked.

Toyosi couldn't help smiling at the improvement. "I'm good too."

"Chill." With that, she went to her bed and also got busy with her phone.

We all got busy with our phones as we fell into silence. I was playing the game 'Episode'. It wasn't until we had all started getting tired of operating our phones before Esse spoke up. "Let's play a game please," she said as she spread herself in the floor with a loud groan.

"Yes please," Amarachi backed up.

"Any suggestion?" Aisha asked.

We all kept quiet for a while, thinking. "How about 'Truth or Dare'?" Collins suggested.

"No, no. That game is no joy," Science said, while shaking his head and swinging his right index finger, left right.

Soma nodded. "'Caused a lotta trouble and issues," he said in a chill voice. "Made some people psych and lose it."

Toyosi nudge him. "Shut up," she whispered to him.

"Hol' up. Hol' up," I said with my right hand out, like I was about to stop something. "Something that we don't know about went down? And we don't know? Like, girl!" I wasn't pissed, but what was her problem? It was the second!

"True though. First Soma, now this?" Amarachi asked in a low, not pissed tone.

"Come on guys, it's not like that," Toyosi tried to defend herself.

"Then it's what?" Esse asked calmly.

Toyosi let out a gentle sigh. "You guys were in school then, so I couldn't get to you. And when you guys were around, I couldn't bug you with my problem, because it seemed like you guys had yours too."

I understood. I felt that way sometimes too. It was really hard really telling people what was going on in your life and how life was going badly for you. They had their problems too. And telling them yours, only seemed inconsiderate. But, we were friends. That was what they are for. To be the one we did things we couldn't do with or to, to others. "One person's problem, is everybody's'. That's why we're friends," I said with a smile, shrugging.

She nodded. "I've heard you ma'am."

I smiled, we all smiled. "So, what was it that happened?"

She chuckled. "It's a story for another day my dearies. Let's play our game," she said with a smile.

"How about 'Sco Pa Tu Mana?" Esse suggested.

"And how's that played?" Adijah asked.

Esse picked her from the floor, beside her. She opened twitter, making us gather around her as she showed us a little about how it was done. After we all understood, we spread out back to where we had been seating.

"So, who is dropping a word first?" I asked.

"Relationship." Collins jumped on it, making me smile.

"That's where they would see you," I said with a smile.

He shrugged.

"One of the most important thing in any kind of relationship, is being there for the person and trying to always understand them," Tosin said out, making us nod.

"True," Soma commented.

"Most people think relationships are really all about the compliments, gifts, couple goals, and many other flashy and glittering stuff. But, relationships are actually about the being there even at the person's lowest point, being able to forgive them, being able to say sorry even when you're the right one, being their shoulder to cry on, supporting their goals, and a lot more difficult and selfless stuff," I said with a smile.

"Damn! Deep," Joseph commented, making me smile.

"And being super nice to their family members," I added with a smile, making them laugh.

"True that," Amaramchi backed me up.

"Relationship is really about putting them before yourself," Soma added, nodding.

Toyosi looked at him with a smile. "African Parents," Toyosi said with a smile.

"They're easier to love from a distance," Tosin said.

We nodded. "True sha," Aisha replied.

"At the end of everything, they love you," Esse said with a faint smile.

"Yeah," I supported her.

We spent the rest of the day playing 'Sco pa tu mana', until it was dinner time.
