Chapter Eight - Scars

-

“Do you believe a man can truly love a woman and constantly betray her? Never mind physically but betray her in his mind,in the very "poetry of his soul".Well,it's not easy but men do it all the time.”
― Mario Puzo, Fools Die

" Where the-" Kaneki shouted as he flipped yet another table. That table went flying and crashed into the glass cabinet which sent glass shards flying all over the place.

Tsukiyama stood at a corner in utter silence. All he could smell was a mixture of her scent and another. Both human scents that seemed to mix together too perfectly for comfort. He was a little suspicious of it. Never had two humans smelt so similar yet different at the same time, with their scent colliding into one another and then rising together as one. It almost reminded him of how they smelt like. The head of the four pure ghoul families.

However, it was not possible. You were able to take in enormous amounts of food and not once did you ever go to the toilet to throw up anything. As far as Tsukiyama knew, every ghoul could not stomach human food and it weakened them even more to the extent that they might die if they had consumed too much.

" TSUKIYAMA!" Kaneki roared as he throw the couch towards Tsukiyama who was standing and stoning, obviously ignorant to Kaneki's anger and frustration. Tsukiyama frowned and then leaped to avoid the flying couch which slammed into the wall and caused the entire wall to shake.

" Kaneki, I think-" Tsukiyama started, wanting Kaneki to come back to his senses. He did not comprehend why Kaneki was getting so worked up over a human girl. Even if that girl was prey, he shouldn't be so upset over something lost. He could just find another one to replace you.

"Where's she?" Kaneki screamed, his eye turning completely dark and the maroon spot flickering in his eyes, a sign that he was trying to stay in control.

" The Aogiri Tree took her." Tsukiyama replied honestly. The marks in the wall were so obvious that Tsukiyama marvelled at how blind Kaneki was for a moment there.

Blinded by rage, hatred and love.

" Don't get so upset over her. Don't you have Touka to take care of." Tsukiyama sighed as he patted Kaneki's shoulders, and then plonked himself onto the couch that almost hit him in this extremely fashionable style.

" ..." Kaneki stayed silent, and then followed to sit beside Tsukiyama. He couldn't forget your eyes. How they looked like Rize's eyes every time you stared at him or how they fluttered with tears when you watched him leave you for Touka. They were almost imprinted into his memory, as if you were chiding him for leaving you again.

He had left you for Touka, who was heavily injured by the ignorant rats of the CCG. That officer called Amon had harmed her and brutally pierced one of her eyes. The other CCG officers then taunted him, swearing that they would hunt you down and then torture you just to let him suffer and surrender.

He hated how much he couldn't protect you, but there was nothing he could do about it. After all, he still wasn't strong enough to go against the Aogiri Tree.

Yet.

" Let's go take a look at Touka." Kaneki calmed down and then ordered, then walked out the house casually with Tsukiyama following behind him, a look of bewilderment on his face. He couldn't quite get the actions of Kaneki anymore but he wasn't going to question. At least not for today.

-

" You've gotten better." your brother laughs as he flicks your forehead childishly. You pout at him while rubbing your forehead, a slight pink mark forming and then disappearing as soon as it appeared. This was the power of regeneration for pure ghouls. Even if you were hurt, even things like a small little bruise would disappear within a split of a second, as if you had never been hurt.

That was why pure ghouls were practically immortal and could not be killed.

" Obviously. I've had to hunt right under the nose of Kaneki and his lapdog, that Tsukiyama Shuu." you snort proudly and then purse your lips to show discontent at your brother's comment. Tatara merely shrugged his shoulders as if he didn't care, causing you to hit him on the back.

" ばか! (Baka)" you immediately childishly lash out and then proceed to do derp faces at your brother.

Tatara whipped around and looked at you straight in the eye, his silence causing you to straighten up and go completely silent. You could see his eyes flashing a gold brilliance, a sign of authority and dominance in the family.

" 申し訳ありませんでした (I'm sorry)." you kneel and, bow a complete and perfect ninety degrees, your head held low and your hands pressed onto your lap. You knew that you had stepped beyond your boundaries. Although the two of you were siblings by blood, according to the family standards, Tatara was your superior who was not to be messed with. Any usage of foul language in front of him could result in a blood bath. By calling him an idiot, you had flouted that rule. Furthermore, the family upbringing strictly required a formal and disciplined attitude instead of your reckless and unforgiving behaviour.

Tatara slapped his forehead and raised his head to stare at the ceiling, sighing. You watched your brother meekly, not wanting to make him angered any further.

" Our Father is coming to visit the Aogiri Tree later. Wear the kimono." Tatara sighed as his foot taps on the floor three times, signalling for you to get up. As you raise your head, Tatara smiles and presses a warm kiss onto your forehead before exiting the room.

Tears flicker in your eyes for that short while before it is replaced by hatred.

Father.

What a nice word to use on that animal. That beast. That savage that never cared about his daughter. All he cared was how the family was prospering, even at the cost of his daughter. Even Rize held a place in his heart, that women that stole everything from you, but you were never there. All along, you were expendable, an item to be used at the cost of achieving total control over Ghouls.

This time, you were going to show your Father what hell burnt like. You take off your leather clothes and slowly put on the white tabi socks that snugly fit your feet. The traditional juban smelt like roses and honey, the instant reminder that you were wearing your mother's outfit. You reminded yourself that you wouldn't want to get it dirty at all cost, even when your Father's blood splattered all over the place. The maroon rose petalled kimono wrapped around you made you appear gentle and welcoming, perfected by the warm smile on your face.

You carefully put on your makeup, light yet seductive, but regulated and formal.

As you slid open the door, you saw your brother standing there lazily waiting for you, the stone face still plastered on, but nevertheless, there was a gentle look in his eyes when he saw you.

"Let's go. Father is waiting for us." you tilt you head slightly and take your brother's hand down the hallway towards the room where death was awaiting.

Hehheh.

"D

Tatara is my favourite character in Tokyo Ghoul though I appreciate Kaneki's Kagune and sadistic nature when he turns into a ghoul form.

Yesh

I am sad that Rakuzan lost btw.
