Zuko walked over to the window as Katara stayed on guard with the stranger. He just barged in her house and now is walking around like he owns the place. Is he crazy?!

"Can I help you? What do you want?" Katara raised the bat as Zuko watched the roads carefully.

She gulped nervously and noticed she was still in her boyshort underwear, backing out carefully to her room to put on pants.

Zuko heard the door close but stayed at the window watching. He knew this girl was probably terrified and could even be callimg the cops, within the hour he wouldn't even be a concern to the police, not with the ill dying on the streets. Cities would go first, he was to late to get out of the city and in an hour the traffic would be to bad to even drive.

He had to think of his options now. He could go after the avatar, or run for himself. He was to far from his uncle for safety. But maybe his uncle would be the only person out there that wouldn't want to kill him...

By tomorrow society would be gone.

He could wait it out, let the city die then run, that might be the best bet. He was quiet, the dead wouldn't even notice him.

"I'm going to ask one more time, what do you want? Before I call the cops," Katara gulped standing on the other side of the living room with jeans on.

"I said I'm hiding, I'm not going to hurt you or steal," Zuko waved her off not looking away from the streets.

There was a gun shot echoing the air outside.

It started.

"Damn..." Zuko bowed his head down shaking it a little.

Katara felt her phone ringing and immediately answered it with a gasp hoping it was her brother.

"Katara did you see the news?!" A boy yelled in the phone.

"Jet? No? No what happened?" Katara flinched a little as she gave up on the intruder who wasn't moving now. He might've been another college student and wasn't being to insane.

"Babe people are going batshit, I'm leaving the city now," jet told her.

"Wha- hey what do you mean? I can't get ahold of Sokka," Katara gulped as she was on the phone with her boyfriend.

"Fuck sokka, he's going to be dead like the others, my roommate died and now everyone is going crazy because some people-" her boyfriend was cut off as he honked his horn in his car.

"Jet? Jet come pick me up please, im freaking out, please?" Katara covered her mouth.

"I love you but im to far away now," Jet tsked as Kataras eyes widen.

"You're leaving me..? But I don't have a car or anything, please Jet, we've been dating for two years You know where I live please come get me," she begged turning away from the living room.

"I love you, stay safe, I'll call you later," Jet hung up and Kataras jaw dropped.

"Your boyfriend seems like he really loves you," Zuko said sarcastically.

"Who asked you? I'm calling the cops," Katara sniffled a little trying to not cry as she was panicking not knowing what to do.

"Don't bother, they're no help, that gun shot was a signal, if what your boyfriend said was true then there's no help out there," he sighed closing the curtains and went to lock the door with the chain.

"What do you mean?" She whispered confused.

"That virus that's been out, it's killing everyone, and everyone it kills... let's just say not everyone is going to see next week, it'll pick out the weak," Zuko went to his bag and pulled out a gun and ammo. Katara gasped a scream at the weapon as he loaded it and put it behind his back and tucked under his belt.

"How do you know...?" Katara asked confused. He looked like a college student? Was he not?

Zuko didn't want to give away himself, that his father gave scientists money for these experiments, it was suppose to be for a cure or to at least understand it. Not mutate it.

"I don't know how to mind my business and now I'm hiding," he shrugged. Katara got the message.

"You sound crazy," she crossed her arms.

"I'll be crazy somewhere else soon," Zuko rolled his eyes kneeling to the bag.

"So the world is ending then..?" She whispered.

"Hope your not close to your friends," he nodded.

"What about family? My brother and dad are out there," she gulped walking closer.

"Listen you don't wanna hear what I have to say, don't ask questions you don't want the answers too," Zuko sighed looking at her unamused.

"What if I do want the answers? Your already crazy," Katara knelt down to him by the bag. Zuko didn't believe her but her steady eyes made it seem like she wanted to know more than just simple answers.

"Consider everyone you know as dead, boyfriend, besties, brother, all of them, it'll be easier to move on if you want to survive," he shook his head.

"Can you shoot a gun?" He asked looking at the girl sternly.

Katara nodded.

"Good, hope you have one here, you'll need it," Zuko grabbed the bag standing up.

"It was nice meeting you I guess, thanks for not calling the cops, and um.. don't let anyone touch you, dead or alive, better safe than sorry," Zuko told her as Katara stood tall wide eyes.

"Wait,"

Zuko went to the window but didn't leave like he was planning on.

"If the world is going to shit.. let me stay with you, I don't have anyone," Katara pursed her lips.

"Im not looking to babysit," Zuko said flatly turning back to her.

"I can shoot a gun, im not some stupid sorority girl, I'm fast, just at least till I know where to go after.. everything," Katara played with the ends of her hair anxiously.

"I don't even know your name, I don't trust you, you'll slow me down," Zuko narrowed his eyes at her.

She fell silent as he opened the window. Katara gulped as her hands shook a little, keeping her head down.

"Fuck, fine, but I don't wanna hear that your feet hurt,"

Kataras head snapped up surprised as the boy stood in the open window. He came back inside and closed it.

"Go get some clothes packed, and grab food, I don't got anything, canned foods or shit that won't expire and you don't care to eat cold, and grab warm clothes, and warm shoes, fashion won't do shit," Zuko crossed his arms annoyed.

"Really?" Katara asked in disbelief.

"Did i stutter?" He glared.

Katara let out a breath she didn't know she was holding, she nodded going to her room to pack for the future. She had to pack light.

"It's katara," she said quickly before closing her door as the intruder stood at the window.

"Bless you?" Zuko didn't understand.

"My name is Katara, now you know," she nodded firmly.

"Zuko," he raised a brow, she nodded again and closed the door.
