You Promise
Eleven months. That's how long I've known Barry Allen. Yet I feel as if I've known him for years.
I am able to enjoy simple moments that one is usually only able to take absolute comfort in with someone they've known there entire lives.
We both know that our short time is coming to a close because the particle accelerator will be ready in less than a month an because of that we treasure each second as if it was a day.
"So tell me about her" I focus my attention on the little skin visible between his shirt and jeans. I feel his gaze on me as I play with the end of his shirt.
"Iris was the person I swore I thought I would spend the rest of my life with. I loved her. I would have would do anything for her." He whispers the last part hoping I catch what he means. I turn my head so our eyes meet allowing me to see the hurt in his eyes. I rest my chin in his chest. "But she didn't feel the same?" Barry smiles a sad smile, taking a piece of my red hair and twirling it on his finger he replies, "no she never reply felt the same. Until it was told to us that we were married in the future. That the future had us set together." I search his eyes trying to place his emotion.
"That's when you realized. Just as she realized she loved you" I whisper. "Yes, I had finally realized that the love I held for her was the love of family." Barry places his hand on my cheek. "Barry?" "Yes" he breathes pulling me closer. "Did you ever feel anything more for the Caitlin on your earth or is it just me?" He gazes into my eyes and collects his thoughts. "I realized my love for Caitlin Snow when I met this version of you. This you that experienced only the things you experienced and this me that grew up with my mom and father. These circumstances shows me what has always been in front of me."
With that he pulls me up further and turns so my back is against the back of the couch. He presses his lips on mine kissing me with such intensity that left no room to doubt his words. "Barry" I interject. He continues to kiss me. I push him back a little so I can say what I nee him to hear, what I need him to promise me.
Pulling back with irritation sparkling in his eyes he rest his forehead on mine patiently waiting. "I need you to promise me something." "Anything" he says with intensity.
"I need you to promise me that" I grab fistfuls of his shirt "you will find me, the other me, and you will tell me how you feel." I look into his eyes making him understand. That I need this. I need to know that somewhere I get him. Even if it's not this version of me. "I promise."
"Cait I'm alive" the one voice I thought was lost rings in my ears. His hands go to remove mine from my face. "Barry" I hear my voice respond.
Unraveling my arms I am met with the hazel eyes I have become so accustomed to. I throw my arms around his neck allowing him to lift me up and carry me. I feel a rush as if I am driving in a fast car with the windows down but it's gone almost as soon as it begins.
I briefly look around and notice we are in what looks like would have been the central lab and Barry had place me on the desk in the front of the lab. "So you have your speed!" Cisco claps as he catches his breath from running after Barry.
"Yes" Barry responds keeping his eyes on me. I allow my hand to travel up the collar of his suit Cisco designed, now that I let my self examine it I notice that it is slightly different from the one in my dream, and up to the nape of his neck when I let my fingers explore his hair. "Cait" he whispers. I can hear his despair, need, and love in the one word. "Remember your promise." He nods his head then bends in letting me reach up at kiss him. Our lips meet in a firry passion, a true goodbye kiss. I pull him closer, pulling his suit, his hair, his neck. Wrapping my legs around his waist to ensnare him in the kiss and for that moment he his mine and I am his. Barry pulls back burying his head in my neck breathing in my scent. "I love you." He tells me. And with that he takes off taking Cisco with him.
"Cisco" I say into the earpiece. "All set" he responds.
"Ready" Barry says in position. "Run Barry" I whisper "Run."
I watch the computer screen that we connected to the surveillance in the tunnels. The tunnels light up in red and then it disappears along with the other microphone.
"Goodbye Barry"
