Trigger warnings- Swearing and drug dealing mention.

While I don't think Liam would actually kill anyone, Ryan does make some good points that make me think... Could Liam have actually killed Mr Grey? No. At least I don't think so.

Ryan and James have taken up on following Liam around to see if he does anything suspicious. Ryan is so suspicious of Liam you'd think he'd caught him with a knife over Mr Grey's body.

Meanwhile Laura and I are currently in the process of breaking into the cctv room. I suggested to the other three that I simply ask Liam if he could get the key for me but of course that idea was shut down with a quick "holy shit. No way Jess, what if he's the murderer?" From Ryan. So here we are attempting to pick the lock with a hairpin.

"Any luck yet?" I ask for the fourth time.

"No," Laura snaps "god I wish you'd stop asking that." We remain in a very long silence until we hear a small...click...and Laura opens the door.

When we're inside it looks ancient. The whole camera system is apparently made up of 12 screens which all show a live feed of the cameras around the school. They are all in black and white. There is a set of shelves on the left side of the room. On the shelves are rows and rows of video tapes, each one is black with a white label placed on it which contains the camera number, the date and a two hour time slot. Nothing more.

Laura immediately jumps to work.

"Ok so we're looking for the 20th at around 4:15pm and camera....," she pauses and looks to the right side of the room, at the screens. Eventually we spot the right one. "...camera 7" she continues. We both start looking along the shelves. The videos are not organised, which is extremely unhelpful.

"Camera 7," Laura calls out at last "but. Oh it's between 2:30 and 4:30."

"Try it anyway," I say "at least it limits Mr Grey's time of death if it isn't the right tape."

Laura nods and puts the video into the video player.

On the largest screen, which I hadn't noticed until now, the tape starts playing. Laura grabs a remote off the shelf nearest her and starts to fast forward the footage. She stops as we hit 4:10pm we watch for a couple of minutes before Laura starts to fast forward the tape again. Slower this time. As the time at the top of the screen hits 4:30 the tape ends.

"Nothing" I say sadly.

"Which means Mr Grey must have been killed between 4:30 and 4:45pm," Laura says excitedly "that means we need the next tape."

But when we look for the next tape...there's nothing.

"That most likely means that the police have it" I say.

"No," Laura says "Mr Rogers said that the pathologists believe he was killed at some time between 4:15 and 4:45. If the police already knew that they would have taken this tape as well. That can only mean that the killer has taken the tape to protect their identity."

Monday morning. 8am. The four of us have regrouped in the detention room to discuss our findings.

"Jess and I found out that the killer must have taken the footage from the security camera near the science lab" Laura explains.

"Great so there's no evidence whatsoever then" James says mournfully.

"We followed Liam for half the weekend," Ryan says.

"Why only half the weekend.?" I ask.

"Well answer this," Ryan snaps. "Would you continue following someone if they pinned you against a tree and shouted insults at you infront of their mates? Didn't think so."

"Wow, did that actually happen?" Laura asks.

"No it was just a really creative way of saying we couldn't be fucked," Ryan replies sarcastically "no of course it actually happened."

"So you didn't find out anything?" I ask.

"Other than the fact that Liam already knows you're pregnant? No" James says.

"Wait," I reply "he already knows. How? I haven't told him yet." We all look at each other.

"Shit," Ryan says "then the only way he could know that is if he's the blackmailer." Once again we all spend a couple of moments looking at one another.

"I've got a way we can figure out if Liam's the blackmailer" Ryan says.

"How?" James asks.

"Well I still have the text from the blackmailer on my phone," Ryan explains "if Jess and Liam go off for a bit on a date I can message that number and Jess can see if Liam's phone goes off."

"Great idea," I reply "I'll see if Liam is free after school. What time should I say 5:30?"

I mostly look at Ryan when I ask this "yeah," he replies "cool." I take out my phone and message Liam.

Me: Hey are you free this evening.

He replies immediately.

Liam: Yeah why?

Me: Fancy going for a walk together tonight?

Liam: Yeah sure. What time and where r we meeting?

Me: 5:30 outside block B?

Liam: Perfect see u there.

"Ok we're meeting at 5:30" I say.

"Ok" Ryan says "I'll send the message at 5:45. If his phone does go off, act normal. Don't do anything stupid."

"I won't" I say. It's nice to know he cares about me.

At 5:40 Liam and I are sat on a bench in the playground behind the school. I am watching the clock on my phone waiting for Ryan to say he's sent the text.

"Have you spoken to Ryan Jamison lately?" Liam asks suddenly.

"No," I reply timidly. Shit does he know what I've been up to. I continue "why do you ask?" Liam is trying not to look suspicious.

"Well I've heard a rumour that he was one of the people who was in the school when Mr Grey was killed last week" Liam says.

"That doesn't mean he killed him though" I reply. "No," Liam replies "but he would definitely be capable of killing someone and he would probably have a motive if Mr Grey knew he was drug dealing."

Our conversation is interrupted as I see a text come up on my phone.

Ryan: Just sent the text now.

I wait to see if Liam's phone goes off but there's nothing. We separate at 6 to head off for dinner. I sit with Ryan and the others at a table in the corner.

"Nothing," I say "he isn't the killer." I'm now a little suspicious of Ryan now though. Liam has a point. Ryan would definitely be capable of killing Mr Grey. All I need to know is if Mr Grey knew Ryan was selling drugs. If he did...then I think we have a great prime suspect.
