Prologue
The Way It Is.
Ryan sat in the coffee shop with a newspaper placed on the table as he listened to the radio blast through the small store. His hazel eyes glanced around the room before landing on a blonde man who reminded him so much of someone he wanted to forget.
He would never admit but as he stared at the blonde flashbacks of him and Bryce played like a broken jukebox. Ryan was now in a relationship with Smitty who he had known for a while. Of course he would never tell Smitty that he was still in love with another man and every little thing reminded him of the blonde who took his heart. Mostly because he knew the man would be upset about it and he'd probably break up with Ryan within seconds.
Smitty and Ryan had been dating for ten months now and though he was happy the blonde who stole his heart still had it.
"Hey here ya go." Smitty smiled as he held out the cup of coffee. The other man took it as he smiled back at his boyfriend who was making his way to the seat across from him. "So, I was thinking that for this Thanksgiving we take up that offer Brock had gave us. We go to his house and celebrate or we have it at ours." Ryan looked up and tapped his chin in thought.
Thanksgiving was in two days and he had plans to spend it with the whole gang. Well half. Brock, Brian, Scottie, and a few others.
"I think we should do it at our place since its larger and has more space." Ryan answered, sipping his coffee. He watched as his boyfriend took that into consideration before slightly nodding in agreement. Smitty placed his hand over Ryan's as he began to go on about the shopping they had to do along with them having to call Brock.
Ryan glanced out the window then he went to turn away when suddenly something caught his eye, drawing it back to the window. Outside the window was a man with blonde hair and deep blue eyes. The man was standing in the rain without an umbrella, his dark purple shirt soaking, his blue jeans doing the same he didn't have to think twice as to who it was. His eyes looked to a man with ice blue eyes and brown hair, the man calling Bryce to his side.
Once he seen they were on their way over here he immediately stood to his feet and nearly spilt his coffee. "Come on babe, I'm ready to go." He nearly whispers as he takes his boyfriends hand to leave. "What? Why? What happened?" Smitty asked confused. Ryan didn't answer as he lead him to the counter but right as they stepped in the lane the sound of the bell ringing echoed loudly. His eyes jerked to lock with blue ones.
Bryce.
"Sorry," Smitty muttered as he laughed a little. "We're trying to get through." The two men only smiled and said a quick apology before moving out of their way. He felt his boyfriend take his hand and a small smile plastered on his lips as his eyes went to his boyfriend. "You okay?" Smitty asked as he kissed his boyfriends arm gently. "Yeah I'm fine. What you think I wasn't?"
He gave him that look that told him exactly what he already knew. Ryan held his boyfriends gaze and watched as rain tickled down his soaked face, he held his smile as this happened. Finally he tore his gaze away and they rushed to the other side of the street now soaked in rain.
The two men made their way down the street to the store their friend owned, the sound of the door bell jingles in response. "Hey Michelle!" Smitty nearly shouts as he gave a wave to the woman who was setting a flower on top shelf. The woman pulled her hands to her side and grinned as she waved back to them for greetings. "Hey Ryan. How was coffee?" She asked as she made her way to the front. Ryan looked to Smitty who only shrugged response. "Ah I see."
Ryan smiled softly at the woman behind the table then watched as she looked over to his boyfriend then back quickly. After she did it twice he turned around and seen Smitty looking at a thing of roses which lay in a pot. Ryan made his way to the man before reaching up and grabbing the pot from his view, "Hm. These are pretty Michelle. And only seven dollars?" He acted amused. "I think they'd look beautiful in our home, don't you Smit?" Then man slightly grins at his boyfriends behavior before nodding slightly.
"Tell you what," Michelle leaned on the counter. "Since you're letting me and my family come over to eat those flowers are on the house." The two men thanked her before making more plans about the party they were having.
