dix-huit
—Namjoon never had a real family. He was adopted at a young age, where he then met Taehyung, but he never had real parents to look after him. At a young age, and influenced by American movies, Namjoon thought families were picture-perfect, and supportive. He wondered why his parents left him, why they hated him enough to do something so cruel, but during those times Taehyung would help him. Taehyung would kiss and love him, just to make him forget his pain. Taehyung was his only family. Or, he had been his only family.
Before entering college, Namjoon meet four other amazing human beings who found a place in his heart. Maybe it was because they all shared common interests and hobbies, but Namjoon couldn't get enough of those four boys—and neither could Taehyung.
Once entering university, Namjoon was graced with the presence and beauty of a boy named Min Yoongi—one of the most gorgeous people he'd ever seen, obviously excluding his other friends. And then before Namjoon could take a second to breath, feelings of love formed.
Suddenly, without those six boys near Namjoon, life was meaningless. He had fallen helplessly in-love with six boys.
Some nights Namjoon would lay in his bed and wonder how someone could fall in love with six different people. With the way society was, only one male and one female were the definition of a 'normal relationship' and everything else was frowned upon. So, with Namjoon having feelings for six boys at the same time, sometimes he thought he was weird. Too abnormal. No one can love six people all at the same time.
At first Namjoon had fallen into a sort of depression, but with the help and assurance of Taehyung, his soulmate, Namjoon was convinced to share his feelings out loud to the other boys. It was a relief that his boyfriend was so accepting and had actually felt the same way—suddenly instead of having just one soulmate, they each felt the urge to have more than just each other for company.
When Namjoon was about to confess his feelings, with Taehyung by his side, Yoongi had fallen sick. Not the type of sick where you have to go to the hospital, but the mental-sick.
It was as if the pieces of a puzzle had suddenly been connected. The frail hands, visible ribs, and sunken-in cheeks suddenly were so god damn visible, and Namjoon felt sick.
Yoongi had an eating disorder.
While Namjoon was enjoying his life, Yoongi was silently dying; just waiting for someone to save him, but they never came.
Namjoon had never loathed himself so much as he had in that moment.
Knowing someone he cared so much for was silently dying, slowly killing themselves from the inside-out, was so heartbreaking that he didn't know what to do. All he could do was cry in his bed, wanting to help Yoongi but being too much of a coward.
Taehyung had helped him again. He'd convinced Namjoon to go and help Yoongi—slowly but surely save Yoongi from his demons.
Namjoon had tried his best to help Yoongi. He would give compliments to Yoongi all day long, feed him little pieces of food while distracting him, and express his adoration for the other as much as possible. Namjoon had done some research and one of the best ways to help a loved one with an eating disorder was to show your love—never make them feel useless.
But, Namjoon's help alone wasn't working. Yoongi needed more people then just Taehyung and Namjoon supporting him. Yoongi also needed to accept and love himself, not just rely on his friends to feel better.
Namjoon felt accomplished after seeing Yoongi smile more, gain a little bit of weight, and seeing him be a bit more open to them was amazing too.
But, then Hoseok went to the hospital. Really, no one was suspected it. How could someone who smiles so much try to kill themselves? Then, Namjoon thought of Yoongi. How sweet and caring he was, and how Namjoon never ever thought he suffered from an eating disorder.
Hoseok and Yoongi's cases were alike. Someone you thought was happy and living life to it's fullest was actually suffering in silence.
Except, then Hoseok told them he was actually drugged, and a gang was after him. Honestly, Namjoon didn't know what to believe. Everything seemed like a movie. But, the police were soon investing the case and Namjoon didn't feel as stressed.
While Hoseok was recovering, Namjoon was dealing with the realization that his friends had so much secrets and with those secrets, Namjoon couldn't truly protect them.
After a few days from leaving the hospital, Namjoon decided to finally confront Yoongi and to get the help of his friends.
First, Taehyung was going to bring Yoongi to Seokjin's apartment. There, they would 'confront' Yoongi and let him know he's not alone in his struggle. The most important thing to Namjoon was that Yoongi didn't feel guilty or shame. Instead, Yoongi should feel support from all six of them and most of all, he should feel loved.
Before the meeting, Namjoon had awkwardly declared his love for all of them. Taehyung stood by his side, agreeing with his boyfriend that he too held feelings close to love for the other five; Yoongi included.
It was hard at first. Most of the boys had said something along the lines of, "I definitely feel love between the seven of us but I think I need to sort my feelings out." Obviously Namjoon knew a romantic relationship wouldn't be formed right away, they needed to slowly ease into it.
Yoongi was the last to know. He found out at the 'group meeting.' No one wanted to overwhelm him, so they didn't discuss everything. But, Namjoon was satisfied with the meeting.
Slowly secrets were unravelled and now, Namjoon could finally protect the ones he loves most.
...
It's been a couple of weeks after the group meeting. Namjoon had never felt better.
For one, Seokjin had revealed he had been in an abusive relationship a couple years ago. Everyone was there to support him and Namjoon knew Seokjin was relieved that he wasn't suffering alone.
Jimin had told them his struggles of drugs because of his mothers death from cancer. He even used to be a stripper to support the hospital bills. Namjoon felt heartbroken after Jimin told him, but at the same time felt relief because Jimin was able to trust them to the extent that he would reveal such a big secret.
Jungkook had told them of his abusive father, who took his stress out on him after his mother died. It was heartbreaking to see Jungkook crying. But, it was a relief that Jungkook's dad was in prison. Namjoon was intent on supporting Jungkook through anything.
Hoseok had revealed the murder of his parents to them and how emotionally draining it was on him. Although, Hoseok had reassured everyone he was in a much better state of mind, Namjoon knew the truth. He needed just as much aid as everyone else.
Taehyung and himself had trusted the others enough to share the story of their abandonment, which had lead to a night of tears and comfort. Namjoon was proud of himself for sharing such an important part of his past with his lovers; for sharing a secret only his step-father and Taehyung knew.
And finally, Yoongi.
Yoongi had shared his story of anorexia, anxiety, and depression. He had shared how emotionally abusive and physically abusive his parents were, and how he often felt they were draining him of life. To hear his little baby boy's struggles with mental illness was very upsetting to Namjoon and it was obvious the others felt the same way.
If Namjoon ever saw Yoongi's parents he knew he would say or do something very stupid. But, he couldn't find it in himself to care. If he ever saw Yoongi's parents, (who he knew were still alive without any punishment being delivered to them) Namjoon would be sure to give them a piece of his mind.
So, when Namjoon was told Yoongi's mother was right in front of him, all he could feel was pure rage.
