Cory was surprised that Gracie was calling him. They never talked about starting to call each other so he knew that this was a mistake. He answered it regardless, but didn't say anything at first.

"Ohhhh, ohhhhh, babyyy I'm dancing in the dark. With you between my arms. Barefoot on the grass. Listening to our favorite song."

Wow.

He was taken aback by her singing voice. Cory heard background voices that sounded like a live performance, but Gracie's voice seemed to overpower the others.

"—an aaangel in person. Darling, you look perfect toniiggghht."

He hung up before he made a noise and she heard him. He kept replaying her singing voice over and over in his head and every time he would, he would smile.
