Cory found himself waiting by his phone for a text from Gracie. He didn't know why, but he looked forward to texting with her — even if he barely knew her. He wanted an excuse to talk with her so he decided to text her first.

What was the scariest moment of your life?

When I passed out. The first time.

I woke up, didn’t feel so well, I went into my parents’ bathroom where my mom was getting ready for work, told her I didn’t feel so well and I was dizzy for a half a second. Gone. I was out. Only for a few seconds though. The first thing I saw when my eyes snapped back open was the ceiling spinning around me and I heard mom telling dad I just passed out.

I was very confused. But I started feeling better once dad put me on their bed.

It turned out to be nothing, but I was eighteen. I was just moving into my house. I had just broken up with this girl who was insecure, possessive, controlling. I don’t even know why I started dating her in the first place.

Right. Anyway, so after we broke up, I went on a date with another girl at a restaurant. That night, when I got home, someone was knocking incessantly at my door. I was horrified that it was my ex-girlfriend who saw me on that date and was going to kill me. Kind of like a ‘if I can be with you, nobody can’ kind of thing. I slowly stepped downstairs literally with a baseball bat in my hand ready to pound her head in.

My heart was beating in my ass. I would say that classifies as a scary moment.

But it turned out to be my mother. I hadn’t called her all day that day. She was worried about me.

More specifically, tarantulas.

I saw one in my parents’ house one time and screamed like a girl.

I have a couple.

One is being kidnapped and never seeing my family again which is a product of watching too many movies.

I have no life.

The second is earthquakes. Coming from Washington, I couldn’t read, hear or say the EQ word without immediately overthinking. I can’t even visit my family in California for longer than a weekend without fearing that we’d never return home.
