The sounds of metal hitting ice filled the cold air as frost giants and the group of young Asgardians fought.
Skadi enfulged the giants with shadows, Loki created illusions, Thor smashed, Freya used Gunnlogi and her powers, Sif used her sword and shield and the Warriors of Three each used their own weapons.
Eventhough the Asgardians put up a great fight, they were simply outnumbred.
Gunnlogi was hit out of Freya's hand by one of the two frost giants in front of her. She felt herself being pushed to the ground by one of the two. Their ice swords were pointed at her throat, ready to kill her. She raised her hand a little and used her telepathy to make them step away from her and afterwards used her telekinesis to retrieve Gunnlogi.
Her green eyes looked around, the odds were obviousy not on their side, there were at least 5 frost giants for each one of them and every time they got rid of one, more would take their place.
Fandral's scream ripped through the cold air and it was hearable even over the loud sounds of weapons clashing with weapons. His scream caught the attention of his friends. We have to retreat. Freya shouted in the minds of her friends. Luckely Thor for once did what his sister said.
Skadi's brown eyes foucused on a frost giant that kept trying to stab her. She let herself fall back into a shadow, her body becoming a shadow as she ran a bit after her friends before materialising her body again.
The group met on a cliff. They were trapped and surrounded.
Some of the frost giants charged at them, Freya jumped forward and moved her arms in a low half circle and held them in front of her face in a triangular shape. The frost giants hit Freya's telekenetic force field. Her muscles strained as she did her best to keep the force field up, with every ice spear the frost giants grew out of the ground and hit the force field, weakened her force field.
Freya knew she couldn't keep up the force field much longer, her energy was being drained too quick. She practically let herself fall, no energy was left in her. Skadi catched her before she could hit the ground.
The forst giants went to atack them again, but the Bifrost had opened and there stood Odin. "Laufy. End this." He spoke confidently "Your boy shought this out." Thor's slight uneasyness could be sensed by his friends "You're right. These are the actions of a boy, treat them as such."
Freya blinked a few times, her eyes were heavy. Loki quickly walked over to Skadi and Freya, he scooped her up in his arms. As he did that Freya lost her consciousness.
Freya. Doll. Where did you go? I'm sorry for leaving. I'm scared . Please help me. I-
Freya woke up with a start. It was the one voice she had been trying to forget for 69 years. But now was not the time to speak with a ghost of her past. Freya looked around and saw she was in the observatory.
"Why did you bring us back?" Thor shouted "Do you realize what you have done? What you have started?" The conversation between Odin and Thor was surely not pleasent to listen to "I was protecting my home." "You cannot protect your friends or your sister. How can you hope to protect a kingdom?" The stinging words held some truth to them but not a lot.
Odin turned to Sif and The Warriors of Three who were holding the injured Fandral "Get him to the healing room." As they did like they were told, Odin turned around to look at his daughter "Freya. Do you need to go to the healing room?"He asked her, his one eye looking at her with kindness "No father, I am alright."Loki gentely set her on her own two feet but still kept his arm around her waist.
Skadi looked around a little awkward, this was probably going to be a father and chldren moment, yet Odin gave her no impression that he wanted her to leave. Instead the king's attention was focussed on his eldest son, who had started to speak again.
"There won't be a kingdom if you are to afraid to act!The Jotuns must learn to fear me. Just like they once feared you." The second fight between father and son had started.
"That is pride and vanity talking, not leadership. Have you forgotton everything that I have taught you but a warrior's patience?"
"While you wait and be patient, the Nine Realms laugh at us. The old ways are done. You'd stand and give speeches while Asgard falls!"
"You're a vain, greedy and cruel boy." Skadi, Loki and Freya held their breath. Their eyes darting between the young prince of Asgard, who looked ready to kill, and the king, who looked angry, a rare sight for the princes and princesses.
In his anger, Thor responded carelessly, somthing he would always regret doing afterwards, "You're an old man and a fool!" Odin was silent, his eye showed no anger but rather dissapointment and sadness. He cast his eye down and reponded calmly, yet with a slight tremble in his voice "I was a fool to think you were ready..." Loki quickly let go of Freya and walked forward "Father..." "NAY!" Loki stepped back silently and did his best to keep his tears from falling.
"Thor Odinson," The king's voice trembled, yet it scared the others that were present in the room "You have betrayed the express command of your king. Through your arrogance and stupidity, you have opened these peacfull realms and innocent lives to the horrors of war." Odin walked over to Thor after he had activated the Bifrost "You are unworthy of this realm..." The old Asgardian started ripping pieces off of Thor's armour "...unworthy of your title... unworthy of the loved ones you have betrayed. I hereby take you from your powers." He took Mjolnir from Thor before continuing his speech "In the name of my father, and his father before, I cast you out!"
Thor was thrown back in to the Bifrost, his remaining armour falling appart. Freya stood there perplexed, Loki reacted quickly and turned himself so he was shielding Freya and Skadi's bodies from the hot sparks flew their way.
As quickly as the sparks came, they disappeared. Loki walked away with red eyes, Freya looked at her father with teary eyes and Skadi looked shocked. After the two women had stood there, Skadi took Freya's hand and pulled her allong, outside out of the observatory and onto Rainbow Bridge.
"Freya." Skadi looked down at her elder cousin with worried eyes. Freya looked up, tears streaming down her face. Skadi looked at her elder cousin, the brunette woman unsure of what to do. Freya wrapped her arms around Skadi hiding her face in Skadi's dark grey armour.
The two stood on Rainbow Bridge, holding each others. Eventhough the wind was restless and the waves of the sea under them high, the two women only had attention for the other. One just lost her big brother and one just lost the closest thing to a big brother she ever had.
Skadi made sure Freya was resting before quietly exiting the large room, there was someone else she had to speak to.
Skadi's footstpes were quiet, yet they seemed to echo through the halls of the castle as if she was the only one walking through them. It was as if the castle was holding it's breath, waiting for any further events to unfold.
When she reached her room, she quickly entred and closed the oaken door. Skadi made her way over to the fireplace and started a fire. After, she made her way to her bookshelf and took a thick leather bound book that was covered in runes. In spite of having shaky hands, Skadi opnend the book swiftly on page 39. As soon as she started speaking the words in the book, the fire flickered, the fire was no longer hot but rather cold.
" Wind, Ice and Snow, carry my voice across the realms. Take my voice to the one who will hear my call. Take my voice to the king of the Wandering Giants."
The fire started turning a blue colour as the room filled with cold wind and frost crept around the fire.
"Tell me that you can help me." Skadi held her chin high as she spoke calmly and focussed, the temperatures in her room seemingly having no affect on her whatsoever.
"With what? My darling." A deep voice came from the cold blue fire. The voice was filled with both authority and kindness.
"Do you still have spies in all Nine Realms?"
"Of course I do. Why do you suddenly have such an interest in my spies?"
Skadi's voice threatened to tremble "Thor has been banished. And I wish to know where to."
"Thor, banished? That must surely be a memorable tale that is worth telling. I will ask around. Keep an aventurine close to you."
"I will. Thank you," Skadi was silent before finishing her sentence "Thank you father." And with that the fire became hot and red again, the frost melting and the room returned to a warmer temperature.
