The dead have a funny way of showing up when they're not wanted, but for Blaire Lake this isn't her new normal until it is.
She's heard of ghost stories, of wandering spirits stuck on earth to torment and trick, but never the ones that pop out through a blurry gray and greet her like old friends. She's seen horror movies and she knows better but the trapdoor in her staircase tells her otherwise, as does the friendly ghost she meets in the house's cold underbelly.
Ghosts were a way for people to grieve, to imagine their loved ones in a better place. But they were also made to scare and frighten, like these transparent beings were made to play a bigger role in the destruction and ruin of the world as forces work behind the scenes like guiding puppets on strings.
Blaire had seen death, tasted it in her very home when her father died in an accident. She'd seen the way death can take hold in a family, how it can shatter a home and a perfect life but what teenager has a perfect life? Certainly not Blaire when the world around her comes crumbling down as the gods fated it so.
The ghosts come calling to her like a magnet, crawling and digging their way up to the surface to demand answers and guidance and wisdom. Blaire Lake has many names but she's about to get one more when the ghosts welcome her to a world of unforeseen darkness and evil that had been growing and festering within the town she'd grown up in.
There was something lurking in the night and it seemed that it had Blaire's name wrapped around its throat like a tightening chain ready to break. She was intertwined with the growing madness and she turns to the ghosts for answers, the dead are more than eager to give the answers.

Characters and storyline are all mine, along with the moodboards and intro photo as well. photos were all found on pinterest/google.
I've been writing this remastered version for around 5 years and it's the first time that I've been able to sit down and get it the way I want it, now that I'm older and can actually write better than I did in middle school. This story has always been so important to me and one I actually plotted out and worked on day and night. It's my baby!!
I DECIDED TO CHANGE THE NAME. IT USED TO BE THE BEAUTIFULLY BROKEN AND IS NOW:
DYING MOURNINGS
pls pls pls don't be a ghost reader!! i love getting comments from you guys!!
