She returned to Middle-Earth by burning the paper that the name of the world was on and found herself in Thorin's room with her head on his chest. It didn't look as if they had been there long because smoke was still curling away from a candle at Thorin's bedside.

Maybe he wasn't asleep yet.

"Thorin?" She said softly, not wanting to wake him if he was sleeping.

"Yes love?"

"The spell sent me to Araluen like it was supposed to. But it sent me to the past. I met my father as a teenager."

"We must tell the wizard and the elf then!"

Thorin rolled out of the bed then helped her up. Before opening the door, he kissed her softly and lovingly.

"We'll figure this out, I promise," he whispered.

"The past? How did we manage that?" Lord Elrond asked of no one in particular.

"I think that Middle-Earth occurs before Araluen on an actual timeline," Snowflake said quietly, not wishing to be wrong.

"That is quite possible."

They tried the spell again and once more, it was early morning when Snowflake found herself in a forest. She headed the same direction she had last time and came across a village but she was unsure of it was the same one or not because it looked quite different.

Regardless, she again asked around for Will Treaty and was pointed to the same cabin.

This time, when she knocked, she was greeted by a teenage girl.

"Who are you?" The girl asked.

"Is Will here?" Snowflake asked, avoiding the question.

"Yeah, but who are you?"

"Let me talk to Will and I'll explain I promise."

The girl turned and yelled inside, "Uncle Will some strange woman is here to see you!"

"I'm coming Maddie," came a tired voice.

When Will Treaty came to the door, he was a little older looking than his daughter remember, but she recognized him anyway. On the other hand, it took him several long moments of staring at her to realize who she was.

"Snowflake! My baby girl!" He eclaimed, hugging her tightly. "How in all of Middle-Earth did you get here?"

"What's going on?" Maddie asked. "Who is this?"

"Gandalf told me you weren't really dead and then he and Elrond sent me and daddy please come back with me," Snowflake rushed to say.

"DADDY?!?!" Maddie exclaimed, still confused.

"Sweetheart, I don't know if I can. I'm training Maddie now and-"

"I want some answers here!" Maddie shouted, startling them.

"Maddie, this is Snowflake, my daughter. Alyss did not die in a fire, she died giving birth."

"So where has she been all this time?"

"In another world. And she wants me to come back with her since I only left to inform loved ones of Alyss's death," Will explained. "But I have your training to think of."

"My training is almost done. Go. I'll ride to Araluen Castle and explain to Gilan. He can finish training me. If you have a daughter you belong with her."

It was two hours after this conversation and Will was helping Maddie pack some of her things.

"Daddy, can I look at some of these books?"

"Of course."

She began skiing through one entitled The Adventures of the Mountain King and Co. It was fascinating to her because it depicted the exact path Thorin planned to take to the Lonely Mountain. It seemed as if someone had written down his plan. She was reading the ending and her heart stopped. The book fell to the floor and she froze. The lines she had just read were the things of her worst nightmares.

"Snowflake, what's wrong?" Will asked, rushing over to her.

"That book. It's about Middle-Earth. About the quest. To claim Erebor. The company... we're in Rivendell now. But... The book says Thorin dies. Daddy we can't let him die!"

"Is there anything I need to know sweetheart?"

"Thorin and I are to be married when the mountain is ours and the dragon is dead. I couldn't bear to lose him." Snowflake whispered, tears streaming down her face.

And hour later, Snowflake and Will Treaty began the process of returning to Middle-Earth.
Will recognized the the halls of Rivendell and Lord Elrond, who was standing with Thorin who looked older than he remembered. Snowflake was standing next to Thorin, her hand in his, but she suddenly collapsed, pale as a ghost.

The dwarf managed to catch her before she hit the floor, but she was unconscious, seemingly unresponsive.

Elrond led them to a room where he could check over Snowflake.

"I fear that world-jumping too many times in a short span took a toll on both her mind and body. She needs rest."

Thorin and Will remained in the room silently. After a while, the grizzled Ranger broke the silence.

"I hear you are to be married," he commented. "Once you are King Under the Mountain."

"Yes," Thorin replied, a smile splitting across his face. "She accepted the day we entered Rivendell."

"You both have grown so much since the day you met."

Later that night, Will returned to Snowflake's room to check on her and found Dwalin at her side.

"Dwalin, my friend," Will said quietly, so not to scare the dwarf.

"Well I'll be. Will Treaty," Dwalin said. "The wizard did not lie." He went back to staring at Snowflake's pale face and his hand hovered above hers before finally resting beside it.

"You love her, don't you Dwalin?" Will asked, understanding the hesitant action.

"More than anything," the dwarf whispered. "But as her heart and happiness belong to another, therefore she will never be my happiness. But, if she is happy, I am content."

"Do not consider what is presently true to be set in stone."
