The day started out like so many before, except now Chase had Dusty to talk to in the early mornings as he made his rounds checking on everything. As usual everything was in it's place and all was wonderful in Adventure Bay. Chase and Dusty began waking the pups to go eat breakfast. Last pup they woke was Marshall, They stopped and stared at Marshall snuggling with his teddy bear.
"He's almost too cute to wake up" laughed Chase "Come on buddy, wake up."
Marshall sat up yawning and stood up to stretch "Wow, morning already?"
"Let's go eat" said Dusty.
The pups all ran to the Lookout and lined up at their bowls as Ryder began pouring food for everyone.
"So pups, what do you want to do today?" asked Ryder.
"How about we go to the beach?" said Zuma.
"That would be fun" said Dusty "I've seen the beach but I've never been there"
"Wow Dude, what a boring life you've had" laughed Zuma
"Well then it's settled. Get your stuff pups, let's go to the beach" said Ryder.
The pups all ran out to their pup houses to gather their stuff to go to the beach. All the pups met in front of the Lookout and headed for the beach.
"I called Jake and Everest, they're on the way to meet us at the beach." said Ryder.

The pups made it to the beach and set up their stuff. Then all the pups, well except Rocky, ran into the water and began swimming around and splashing each other. Rocky sat on the beach watching the other pups. Dusty noticed and walked back onto the beach towards Rocky.
"Aren't you gonna come play?" asked Dusty, not knowing about Rocky's fear of water.
"I don't really do water" said Rocky
"That's fine you want to play chase?" asked Dusty.
"No, go have fun" said Rocky looking down at his paws "I wouldn't want you to miss any of the fun."
"Fun is what you make of it" smiled Dusty, wagging his tail "Come on they're having plenty of fun without me. Let's do something. I've never been to the beach before, why don't you show me what's on the dry side?"
"Ok" said Rocky obviously perking up a little "Let's walk down the beach and look for shells."
"Cool, let's go" said Dusty
The two pups walked down the beach looking at shells. Rocky showed Dusty the beach and stopped from time to time to pick up trash left on the beach. Dusty's curiosity finally got the better of him.
"Why do you keep picking up the trash?" asked Dusty "Doesn't Adventure Bay have people that do that?"
"It's my goal in life to clean up as much as I can, besides I'm the Recycling Pup" explained Rocky "When we do our part it makes the world better for everyone. If we don't do it, the life guards have to and that takes away from them helping people."
"I've never really thought about it" said Dusty, picking up a can and putting it in the recycle bin "It doesn't take a lot of effort and then the next pup that has never been to the beach finds a clean pretty beach to play on."
"That's it! I think we are going to be great friends, Dusty" smiled Rocky "Race you back to the others!" Rocky took off as fast as he could go.
"No fair! you got a head start" laughed Dusty, chasing Rocky catching up to Rocky quickly.
As the pups returned Ryder was setting out some dinner for the pups.
"Are you enjoying your day at the beach Dusty?" asked Ryder
"I'm loving it and now I've got to spend time with Rocky," said Dusty "I've never had this many friends in my life."
Ryder was interrupted by his pup pad ringing.
"Ryder, here" said Ryder answering his pup pad.
"The bathroom at the dog park is on fire!" yelled Mayor Goodway "Oh goodness! we need the Paw Patrol."
"We're on the way Mayor, No job is too big and no pup is too small!" said Ryder opening his pup pad to alert the pups.
"Pups to the Lookout!" said Ryder
"Ryder needs us!" yelled all the pups running towards the lookout.

As the pups were running into the Lookout Dusty tripped over a toy in the yard rolling over Marshall who then rolled into everyone else in the elevator.
"Maybe it's a Fire Pup thing!" laughed Rocky. The other pups laughed as the elevator rose.
Stepping out of the elevator the pups got into line, "Ready for Action, Ryder Sir!" said Chase.
The screen came on showing the bathroom at the pup park with flames coming out the door. "The bathroom at the pup park is on fire" said Ryder "Marshall I need you and Dusty to go put that fire out and figure out what caused it."
I'm Fired Up!" said Marshall. "Dusty, Let's go to Work!" said Dusty.
"Chase, I need you to control the crowd," said Ryder
"These Paws Uphold the Laws" said Chase.
"The rest of you pups stand by in case we need more help," said Ryder "Paw Patrol is on a roll!"
With that the pups ran to the slide and made it down to their vehicles. The pups then followed Ryder on his ATV to the Pup Park.

Marshall pulled up and began fighting the fire. Chase put out cones to keep the gathering crowd back. Dusty stood back waiting to see if either Marshall or Chase needed help. While he was standing there he was watching the crowd to see what they were doing.

Dusty noticed a small boy watching the fire and looking very afraid. Dusty walked over to the boy.
"It's going to be ok, we're here to put the fire out, everyone is safe," said Dusty.  The boy still looked upset. "Is there something you want to tell me about this fire?" asked Dusty "What's your name?"
"M-my n-name is Gary" said the boy.
"Gary accidents happen, do you know how this fire started?" asked Dusty
Gary nodded looking down at his feet "I was in the bathroom and found a lighter on the sink" said Gary "I didn't think it would start a fire." Gary continued, "but I lit it and it burned me so I dropped it, but it fell in the trash can."
Dusty allowed Gary to continue.
"I'm really sorry," whimpered Gary "I never wanted to start a fire."
Dusty took a deep breath, he had seen this too many times. A kid gets in trouble for starting a small fire and dumped into the system. It never seems to solve the problem.
"Gary, what you did was wrong," said Dusty "and you need to understand that."
"I do" sniffled Gary. "Am I going to Jail?"
"Not if I can help it," smiled Dusty.
"While it is wrong to start fires, it's also wrong to play with lighters and matches" explained Dusty "If you find them, you should tell a grown up. Wait over there with Ryder and I'll be right back."

Marshall had put the fire out and was waiting for Dusty.
"I bet I can tell you what happened" said Marshall.
"Let me guess," said Dusty "Someone lit the trash can on fire and it spread to the rest of the building"
Marshall stood there with his mouth open, "How did you figure that out you haven't been in the building yet?"
Dusty laughed, "Sometimes the clues are on the outside as well."
"What do you mean?" asked Marshall as Chase was walking up.
"Well you didn't need my help so I was watching the crowd." explained Dusty "I saw something that didn't look right so I investigated and found the person that accidentally started the fire."
"Wow, I may never learn all there is to investigations" said Marshall.
"Sometimes your gut will do the investigating for you," laughed Dusty.
"You know who did it?" said Chase, "Let's hook 'um up."
"Well not so fast" said Dusty "That only fixes the little problem. I have an idea if the Mayor will let me try."
Ryder was walking up with the Mayor. "Paw Patrol, once again you've saved the day" said Mayor Goodway.
"I understand you caught who did this?" said the Mayor "Are they going to jail?"
"Well the decision is yours since it is city property" said Dusty "But I have an idea that may work better."
