Chapter- 16(3)
Rathi could feel nothing but the scorching fire. In front of her, there's a big well which is glowing brightly, she went close to it and saw something that will ruin her sleep for the rest of her days. There are hundreds of heads rotting and burning in it. In a terror, Rathi turned to run but she saw something that made her stumble. That's Aadhiyan and his eyes were totally red like a devil. His hand carried a man's head. He dropped it and came closer and Rathi closed her eyes in fear.
In the middle of the night, when they were deep in sleep, Rathi got up from her sleep and sat upright in shock. Her eyes started to shed tears which is an impulse for the horrific visuals she saw in her dream right now.
"No don't get scared, don't," she mumbled and kept telling me that.
At that moment she wanted to use the bathroom, but she's too afraid to go outside in the dark. Her eyes looked at Aadhiyan who's sleeping soundlessly. But not having another option, she patted his shoulders.
Aadhiyan immediately got up and looked at her, "What?" he muttered in his sleepy voice.
"I need to go the bathroom," she told.
"Come with me," she added.
Aadhiyan sighed and got down from the bed. Rathi followed him blankly, "Do you want me to come inside too?" he asked as they reached there.
She glared, "No,"
Aadhiyan leaned on the wall and looked at the shimmering ocean. Like Rathi, he had a dream too, where he and Rathi were living in a big house peacefully in the country. He wants that to happen. If he sacrifices his son and frees God, then he will get a chance to ask his wish. He will request to free everyone. Then nothing could stop his happiness and freedom.
Aadhiyan wants to be a painter, he wanted to make that talent into his profession, he'll use his wealth to buy an estate and live there with Rathi. He's wishing all these things secretly and he's having a hopeless belief in this.
Rathi came out wiping her hands using the end of her saree, Aadhiyan turned to see her and she looked at him still having that anger dancing eyes.
"Don't get angry at me," he said and looked at her softly. Rathi stood beside him and looked at the ocean. She never thought midnights can be beautiful. The far stretched ocean made her sigh in weariness. There's a type of silence that will make you crazy and this place habitat that.
"Then be true to me than changing me for your convenience. Talk what lies in here," she told pointing to his heart.
He chuckled, "If I tell you then you can't live with me," he replied.
"Don't decide on your own, whatever it is, just tell me. We can face it together, at least for our baby," she asked.
He's silent because the problem is their child, whenever she mentions this baby he's getting afraid about their fate. It gives him the feeling that they won't end up together.
"I can't, Rathi." He turned his gaze to the other side.
"You'll never listen to me because you never want me," she muttered and started walking to the room. She considers it's a waste to talk to him but more than that her dream –Rathi thinks that it's telling her his true identity.
She laid on her bed and tried to close her thoughts but she couldn't.
Days passed one after one, Rathi dreamt about random things and they faded away on that day. She spent her time playing the violin, roaming around the fort and talking to Sumaya and Mithran. Rathi feels like they are the real humans in their entire place. Others will just smile at her and won't even talk. Aadhiyan will go fishing in the morning and will come back in the evening. Their conversation became less and sometimes they won't speak at all for the entire day. If Rathi wants to tell anything she will just think and Aadhiyan will reply. At nights, Rathi won't even look at his face. She doesn't know why her feelings are turning into an indissoluble hatred. Seeing Rathi's rapid change in attitude made Aadhiyan feel lonely. He doesn't know what to do, he easily made her fall in love with him but as he guessed she starts to hate him once she starts to unveil him.
She isn't wearing the bracelet, he even gave in her hands to wear it but she's too stubborn and finally told the truth that she saw the same bracelet on his mother's hand. Aadhiyan didn't compel her after that. Everything is turning against him and he's waiting for the right time to explain everything to Rathi.
Rathi slowly walked down on the steps and saw Aadhiyan nowhere in the hall. She headed to the side of his painting room and saw him there painting something grippingly. She wondered what he's painting?
Sensing her presence, Aadhiyan turned to her side. Rathi jumped in surprise and turned her gaze to the other side.
I just came here hearing your sound, she thought.
"Come inside, Rathi," he ordered.
"Why?" she asked.
"Come here," his tone requested her.
She went leaving her ego at the door. When she stood away, Aadhiyan held her hand and pulled her close to him. Her eyes stuck in the painting, it's a beautiful child like an angel on the canvas. Rathi's lips curled in a smile. She reached out her hand to touch it.
"Don't touch it," he warned.
"It's not dried yet," he added in a low voice.
"Is this our child?" she asked.
"I don't know," he replied. "I just painted it casually."
Rathi smiled seeing him. "I like it," she told.
Aadhiyan smiled too, he put down the painting brush in his other hand and held both of her hands. He drew her closer and made Rathi sit on his lap.
"You don't have to hate me this much," he said and his hands firmly held around her hip.
Rathi watched his eyes, which is normal confirming that he's not possessed. "Don't watch me like that," he frowned.
Rathi felt sad seeing his situation. Realizing that she's hurting his feelings Rathi cupped his face. "I feel sad too, but I can't stop hating you," she replied.
"This is why I told you not to believe your dreams, now it made you hate me,"
"It's telling the truth," she countered.
"No, it's not,"
"You can't hide the truth from me, I know it when the time comes," she sighed.
"Okay, you think what your mind says," he turned in defeat.
Rathi kept gazing at him and she felt sad. She's aware that he never hurt her but he deceived her which is an unacceptable thing. She has lived with Shankari for more than eight years but Rathi never got angry with her but with Aadhiyan she can't help it.
"Look at me," she gave up her hate and smiled at Aadhiyan.
"Let's reconcile, I too hate this silence," she said but he doesn't turn.
"Let's talk how we used to be," he didn't respond at all.
"Please look at me," his lips curled at the corner but Rathi didn't notice it.
"I will tell you a secret I saw recently about you," she said to get his interest.
Aadhiyan finally looked at her narrowing her eyes, "What did you saw?"
"I know you when you're young, without asking your father you took the boat and went to the ocean," she said.
He chuckled, "That's not a secret, my dad knows it," he replied.
"Oh, I thought it's a secret because no one accompanied you and you're excited in doing that."
Aadhiyan curiously looked at her, "Then?"
"I got on the boat with you when you're taking it urgently from the shore. And watched whatever you're doing. You looked different in your teenage and I thought it's someone else but your eyes identified it's you."
"Oh?" he remembered it and his eyes glittered in delight.
"You paddled for so long and then stopped when the tides are less. You stood up in the boat watching the sun setting. Then shouted in happiness," she told and Aadhiyan's face showed a mixture of happiness and sadness.
"You don't have the scar in your back and that means you're not introduced to the Deities," she said and Aadhiyan didn't meet her face. She's right, those times he was happy and never know the meaning of evil.
"I want you to smile like that again," she caressed his cheeks.
"I will if you're with me," he confessed and leaned to kiss her lips. But stopped when they heard Mithran's voice.
Rathi got down from his lap and they both came out to see Mithran who's tensed and serious.
"Ayya, Sumaya start to have labor pain. Please, you both come with me," he requested.
Aadhiyan already started to walk and his steps were faster than anyone and Rathi, praying god followed Aadhiyan and Mithran.
