Chapter 3: Snow Storm
Duska
"I-It's f-freez-zing o-out here!! I-Isn't one o-of the s-skeleton's s-suppos-sed to b-be here!?"
"I-It's a s-snow s-storm F-F-Flowey... n-no one's o-outs-side..."
I grab the jacket Sans put on me before the rip appeared and pull it closer to myself, sadly it's doing little to keep me warm in this storm. Flowey's sitting inside the raised hood huddling into my neck for warmth and it helps me a little too. A silhouette of a figure appears into view and I try to speed up.
"H-Hey..! Help..! P-Please..!"
"Wh-What are you d-doing!?"
"T-Trying n-not to f-freeze to d-death."
The silhouette gets closer and I realize that whoever it is, they're a lot taller than me. I keep pushing through the snow until colors start to form, the figure's wearing a large amount of orange. I have an idea on who it is but it doesn't stop me from walking. A heavy blast of wind forces my head down and a second later I run into someone.
"huh... now, why's a human out in a snow storm..? you must be chilled to the bone."
I giggle and look up, it definitely is Papyrus as I thought. His hoodie's up but his face is recognizable enough to know who it is.
"I-I a-am usually ch-chill... b-but I th-think I went a-a b-bit o-overboard..."
I hear Flowey groan quietly as the skeleton chuckles. He suddenly grabs my hand and starts leading me somewhere.
"c'mon kid, you can stay at my place for awhile. your lucky i was at muffet's as you were walking by."
Muffet's..? Oh Grillby's... How did I get into town so fast? It doesn't matter as long as I get warm soon, my hands are becoming numb and I may have gotten a cold. Soon enough Papyrus brings me into his house and the first thing I do is sit on the couch and wrap into a ball to try and warm up. He chuckles and heads upstairs, coming back down a minute later with a a couple blankets and drapes them over me.
"Th-Thank you..."
"no probs kiddo. just uh... if my bro sees you, tell him that i let you in here."
I nod and he heads off to the kitchen as I curl up into the blankets. Flowey pokes his head out and I quietly laugh.
"I'm already warm..."
"Th-That's good. D-Don't want th-those p-petals f-freezing."
He sighs and relaxes until a bone flies right past his petals, barely missing him.
"that's no ordinary flowey..."
"You got that right!! I'm N O T one of those annoying things!"
"Flowey!!"
Papyrus walks up to us and I spot a flash of orange in his eye, I pull Flowey closer into the blankets without breaking eye contact with the skeleton.
"who are you?"
"I'm D-Duska. And if y-you want t-to be formal... Duska R-Rosaye."
"well then duska... why do you have that flowey with you?"
I frown and wonder what he's talking about but after a second it clicks, Papyrus remembers the timelines instead of Sans here.
"Because we were pulled here... from another Universe..."
"huh... which one..?"
"Um... Flowey called it 'UnderTale' but other than that-"
"i know which one that is. your sans is lazy with a hyper and innocent version of me."
I nod and he sighs, looking both confused yet thoughtful, yet I just stare down as I finally thaw out and able to feel my hands again. I suddenly sneeze, then sneeze again and even a third time.
"you have a cold~"
"Urgh... I hate snow storms..."
He chuckles and pulls something from his pockets, he takes something out of the box he has and puts it in his mouth.
"You smoke!?"
"yep. good stress relief, your sans should try it out."
"Yeah no."
I curl up more as Flowey moves out of my grasp, he looks really tired. Papyrus sees him and heads outside, leaving the two of us in the lounge room alo-
"PAPYRUS!! WHO'S VOICE CAN I HEAR!?"
"Noo... I'm too tired for him..."
A rush of blue flies down the stairs then stops as he sees me, I stare at him and I feel my heart hurt a little as I know that this isn't my Sans that's looking at me.
"ARE... ARE YOU A HUMAN..?"
"Uh... yeah..?"
I'm not completely lying... just not saying the whole truth. His eyes light up and he runs over to grab my arm but I sneeze again before he can. My eyes are watery and my face is beginning to feel hot.
"OH. ARE YOU UNWELL HUMAN?"
"I... I think I am..."
Another sneeze, yeah I am. I sigh as Sans runs into the kitchen with the sound of pans clanging and other kitchen-y noises like that. I see Flowey having trouble keeping his eyes open, just then Papyrus returns with a pot in his hand.
"here ya go plant."
Flowey quickly roots himself into it and falls asleep as Papyrus puts him on the table side. He sits down beside me with a groan and his eyes closed.
"you meet sans..?"
"Y-Yeah... I think he's cooking something..."
"prob those tacos alphys teaches him to cook."
I can't help but smile, it's a little funny how everything is backwards here. I wonder if Alphys has an eyepatch..?
"can ya get home kid..?"
The question surprises me as I look over at him, his eyes are still closed, but I don't answer which makes him open them. I'm staring down at the blanket as memories with my Sans and Papyrus slowly flash by.
"kid..?"
"I don't think I can..."
I feel his gaze on me but I ignore it and just continue to stare down. The view of the blanket suddenly turns to the view of tacos, I look up to the smiling face of Sans. I notice that he's slightly taller than my Sans, by around a few centimeters.
"I HOPE YOU LIKE THEM HUMAN!"
"Thank you."
"OH! I HAVE NOT TOLD YOU MY NAME! I AM THE MAGNIFICENT SANS!! AND THAT'S MY LAZYBONES BROTHER PAPYRUS..."
"heya."
"Nice to meet you both, i'm Duska."
"THAT IS A NICE NAME!"
I smile and take a taco into my hands, it looks half decent and non-life threatening so I take a bite. At first it tastes normal then the glitter taste comes but i'm able to choke it down.
"It's really good Sans!"
"MYEH HEH HEH! THANK YOU!"
"did you leave the stove running again bro?"
Sans gives him a blank look for a second before running back into the kitchen, Papyrus takes my plate and quickly opens the door and throws them outside before handing the plate back to me.
"shh."
I nod and turn my head back to Sans who's standing agape at the kitchen door.
"WOW!! YOU MUST HAVE BEEN REALLY HUNGRY!"
"I was, thank you for cooking them!"
"IT IS NO PROBLEM FOR THE MAGNIFICENT SANS!"
I giggle and smile, even though the smile seems forced I am somewhat happy that i'm safe at least. But there's the one question that's plaguing my mind: Am I ever going home?
