CHAPTER 10

I woke up because of the noise coming from nowhere. I maybe asleep but my hearing and my mind is not, kaunting kaluskos lang iyon pero rinig na rinig ko. Malakas ang pakiramdam ko at hindi 'yon nawala kahit noon pa man.

I stood up silently and grab my leather jacket and wore it, I also get my gun beneath my bed and hold it tightly. Silently, I opened the door and a lot of men welcomed me.

My eyes widened but I manage to stay calm as I hide. It was a good thing that every house has a second door at the back. I went out inside the house as I walked silently and carefully. I hide from one of the tree at the side of the house as I looked at them.

They were talking silently but because I have a good hearing, I can hear it all.

"Patayin na lang natin sila kaagad, sigurado naman ako na hindi makakalaban ang mga bantay dito."

My jaw clench as my breathing ragged. But then suddenly, someone covered my mouth that I instantly hold and punch it's stomach. Napa-igik siya ng mahina pero rinig 'yon ng mga lalaki, napatingin sila sa direksyon namin kaya napamura ako.

Hinila ko si Levi sa isang sulok at tinakpan ang bibig niya.

Lumapit ang isa sa mga lalaki doon habang hawak hawak ang baril niya. Nang makita na walang tao doon, bumalik siya sa puwesto niya kanina.

I let go of him and grab his collar. "What the fuck is wrong with you?" Madiin ngunit mahinang sambit ko.

I saw how his face paled as he looked away. "I-i can't sleep so I had a little walk and saw them, nagtago ako at nakita kang lumabas. Hindi ko naman alam na susuntukin mo kaagad ako,"

Ngumiwi siya kaya binitiwan ko na. I looked at them again and sighed. "They're still planning for something, I want you to wake up the people silently. Use the back door, I'll wake up my cohorts."

He nodded and started to walked slowly, on the other hand, I walked to Myra's room. I opened the door at the back, I thought she's still asleep but I saw her taking a peek at the broken
fence of bamboo.

She notice my presence and was ready to attack me when I talked impotently. "It's me,"

She calmed down and put down the dagger and sat. "What are we going to do? We're too plenty to escape this. How'd you handle this, captain?"

I sighed and scoffed afterwards. "We're not going to let them touch even one of this people, that's why we're here. To protect them, and to sacrifice ourselves for their life."

She coldly stand up and faced me. "I'm with you, let's settle this and kill those fucktards. I won't forgive them for killing those people,"

"Let's take the people to a safe place first, after that. Uunahan na natin sila,"

"Copy that."

We both use the back door, she wakes up Lian and Kin while I wake up the two. They were asleep peacefully while hugging each other, I silently shook my head as I covered Aya's mouth.

I move her body a bit making her eyes widened and was ready to scream when I covered her mouth tightly.

"Shut the fuck up!" I said.

She calmed down as her head knotted. "Cap? What's going on?"

I motioned her to be quiet so she did. I also wake up Ynah and good thing she's not like Aya.

"Why Cap? Is everything okay?"

I shook my head and put my gun at my back and get a knife and other weapons.

"There's a lot of enemies out there, it was a good thing I woke up easily. They're planning to kill us now, we should get out of here before they do that."

The both of them panicked as they wore their shirts and grab the weapons. We all went out of that house and went to the secluded place. A minute had passed and I saw some of the indigenous people walking silently.

Kin, Lian and Myra approached us and we all huddled up.

"Let's do what we planned last night, the three, go now. The rest, guide them. I'll talk to the armies and see if there's someone who still inside their house. Go!"

We all did what we were about to do. They all started to walked slowly at the back while I, on the other hand, climb on the tree as I gripped my weapon tighter.

A minute passed and I already saw them about a kilometer away. It can be seen right here on the tree.

I jump off the tree and check every house in this small community. I was shocked when I saw a little girl, hiding and crying silently underneath the table.

I slowly walked towards her and she immediately saw me. I motioned her to be quiet so she did.

"Ano 'ng ginagawa mo dito? Hindi ba dapat sumama ka sa kanila?"

She shook her head and bury it on my neck when I carried her. Huminga ako ng malalim bago humanap ng lugar na pwede niyang pagtaguan.

I walked a few meters away from their house and saw a cave. Pumunta ako doon at tinago siya.

"Dito ka lang ha? Huwag kang aalis dito,"

She shook her head and gripped my shirt tightly. I sighed and put her down.

"Babalik ako, pangako 'yan."

She nodded and didn't say anything, I gave her my phone that only had a twenty percent. She just need the flashlight anyways.

Pinapasok ko siya sa medyo malayo at nginitian.

"Babalik ako,"

Tumakbo ako pabalik doon at nanlaki ang mata ng makita ang mga bahay na nasusunog na. Napatiim bagang ako sa nakita, doesn't they have some conscience? Or any compassion?

What if there's a person in there?

Tumakbo ako doon habang sila ay nagsisigawan.

"Putangina nakatakas sila!" I heard a man shouted.

"Habulin niyo! Siguradong hindi pa sila nakakalayo!"

I hid somewhere to avoid them, may mga nagpa-iwan para sunugin ang mga bahay na ikinagalit ko. But I can't fire my gun that easily, they're too many.

I shook my head and laughed sarcastically.

What the hell is happening? This is not me!

I wasn't use to be like this, eve a lot of gunners, I can still assassinate them in just a blink of an eye. But what now? What's happening to me? Am I losing my courage to do my job?

My jaw clench as I shook my head.

That won't fucking happen.

"Boss! May tao dito!"

My eyes widened as I take a peek at them. I cursed underneath my breath as I looked at Kit, Levi and Ms. Dianne. What are they doing here!? I thought they're with Myra!

The man smirked as his man pushed and forced them to kneel in front of him. Dianne was crying and trembling as the man gripped her hair.

"What a nice fucking show," He paused and roamed his eyes and it descended at my direction.

"Fuck." I cursed.

"Where are they?" He asked and leave his eyes from my place.

"W-we don't know!" Levi answered.

I shut my eyes tightly as I redeem myself to shot their head one by one. How dare they!?

"Magkakasama kayo hindi ba? Nasaan sila!?"

Levi shut his eyes and spoke. "Umalis sila kagabi pa, nagpa-iwan kami dahil may pasyente pa kami sa loob."

That's when I saw a man, dragging a man who is unconscious.

"Stop! He's not well!" Kit shouted.

The man ignored him and just pushed the man making him fall to the ground. I gritted my teeth and climb the tree. I settled my sniper and adjust it.

The man pointed the gun at Levi making my head heated in anger.

Fuck him! Fuck!

"Papatayin kita kapag hindi mo sinabi kung nasaan sika,"

Even in his worse time, Levi shook his head once again. "I-i don't know."

The man was ready to pull the trigger when I pulled mine. I hit his head making his man panicked and shot their gun everywhere. Mabuti na lang at mataas ang puno.

I shot the guys who was holding the three doctors shirt. I pulled the trigger again and again, until they all fell on the ground lifelessly.

I jump off the tree and walked towards them. Dianne hurriedly run to Lev and hugged him, I rolled my eyes surreptitiously and looked away. Kit started to check the bodies while I, on the other hand, looked at the surrounding to see if there's left.

"Cap, where are they?"

I looked at Levi and raised a brow. "I thought you knew?"

He shook his head. "I don't, we were helping that man earlier but when we reach the place, all of them are gone."

I looked at the unconscious man and lick my lip. "We'll go, follow me."

Sumunod silang apat, kasama ang walang malay na lalaki na buhat buhat ni Kit. Pumunta ako sa liblib na lugar kung saan ko iniwan ang bata kanina sa kuweba.

We reach the cave and entered it. I heard a light sobbed and I know it came from that little girl. I run and went inside, nakita ko siyang nakaupo sa lupa habang nakatakip ang kamay sa mukha niya.

Nilapitan ko siya at niyakap. Mas lumakas naman ang iyak niya ng makita ako.

I looked at Levi and motioned him to come to me.

"Yes? What is it?"

"Check her, baka may masamang nangyari sa kaniya."

He smiled at me and at the girl afterwards. Si Dianne at Kit ang nag-aasikaso sa kasama naming lalaki na walang malay. Ano bang nangyari sa kaniya? Hindi ko naman siya kilala.

I just shrugged it off and didn't say anything. I roamed my eyes around the cave, it was weird that I felt a loud thud inside my heart but I ignored it.

"She's okay, wala namang problema."

I looked at Levi and nodded. "Stay here, I'll talk to my crew for a second."

Hinayaan nila akong umalis at hindi na nagsalita pa. I, on the other hand, went outside the cave and enabled my earpiece.

[Thank goodness, you bitch! Where the fuck are you!?] Bungad ni Nana.

I sighed and spoke. "I'm still in the village, not literally inside the house, we're inside the cave."

I heard her tapped something and spoke. [Yeah, I know that place. How are you? No bruises? Gunshot? Your wound?]

"I'm okay, Nana. Thank you for worrying but I can handle myself, take care of my crew for a second. Wala ako sa tabi nila,"

[Always bitch, I'll connect you to them. Hindi mo ba sila mahahabol?]

I looked at the sky and sighed. "Magu-umaga na, I'm sure it's hard to move on this state. Especially I'm with the doctors,"

She chuckled. [So you're with that handsome doctor, huh? How was it? Am I going to be a ninang?]

I rolled my eyes once again. "Shut up, I don't even like him. He's just a doctor and I'm the agent who needed to save them. That's all, nothing more, nothing less."

[Ohh. . . ? Weh? Hindi nga? Ang lamig mo naman kung ganun! Ang gwapo niya eh,]

"I'm not interested, please lang layuan mo ako."

She chuckled and scoffed afterwards. [Take care bitch, I'll watch you out. Ako na munang bahala sa mga kasama mo.]

"Thanks, Nana."

[No worries,]

I smiled a little and entered the cave whole listening to the conversation of my crew. They're doing good, I'm going to trust them with this for now. To take care of those people, I know they'll arrived safely. I'll just make my way how to save the five, especially when I don't have enough weapons to use.

Nevertheless, I know I can save them. I'll just need to come back at my senses to knocked them all. Now that I felt that I'm changing, I don't know why. But I felt tired, and I don't know why I'm feeling like that.

I hate it.

I hate the fact that it's making me tired in no reason, I'm so close of getting exasperated. I'm pissed.

Not only on myself but on the other person.

And I don't fucking know who the fuck it is! It's fucking frustrating!

This is fucking insane.
