you hadn't planned to be on a boat in the middle of the sea, but there you were. peter, a boy who lived near you, had gone out with his father and friend george to go save the soldiers at dunkirk. your best friend and long time crush, collins, was a pilot sent to dunkirk, and you hadn't heard from him in a while. worried, you convinced the boys to let you come with them to dunkirk. the first man you found was a pilot who seemed to have seen some stuff, and didn't talk much. when he did speak, his words weren't very kind. he accidentally pushed george down the stairs, and you and peter had rushed down to check on him. after a while, george said he was blind.

a plane crashing onto the water caught your attention, and you pointed it out to peter's father. he nodded, turning the boat that direction. the pilot inside seemed to be struggling to get out of the plane, but soon was getting out. as the boat got closer, you began to recognize the man's posture. realizing it was collins, you began to get excited. when you got close enough, you started doing everything you could to help get collins onto the boat. once he was onboard, collins wrapped his arms around you, enveloping you in a tight hug. you wrapped your arms around him, smiling. after a few minutes, you pushed him away.

"why didn't you write me back? i was worried about you!" you yelled, crossing your arms over your chest.

collins held his hands up in defense. "i was just busy saving the world." he responds, and you giggle a little before hugging him again.

"i'm glad you're okay." you smile, kissing his cheek. when you pull away, you notice that collins is blushing. "i love you." you mumble, and he picks you up and twirls you in his arms, pressing a soft kiss to your lips.

"i love you, too."
