Prophecy

The Guild was lively as it usually is with some of the age appropriate members drinking pints of ale while some other members were picking their next quest at the job board..
"You all returned."
Said a elderly man who was sitting in an ornate chair at the far side of the guild.
"Uhh hey Guildmaster."
Devarius waved nervously as the other party members pretended to be preoccupied.
"Come you four.... plus one why do you all have an infant with you?"
The Guildmaster asked.
"Well after our job we  uhh found this egg and then he hatched and here we are."
Arthur explained..
"These horns and scale texture, if my eyes don't deceive me I would think you found  a dragonborn hatchling. "
The Guildmaster said.
....
" Welllll. "
Arthur trailed off on his words.
" You lot always have a knack for getting yourselves into interesting situations. "
Said the elderly man as he motioned for the party to follow him.
The group followed the Guildmaster into his office quarters where the group were instructed to sit.
"So.... where did you really find this dragonborn hatchling."
The old man asked
"I don't think you'd even believe us."
Alisa responded.
"I've been around for over 900 years, there is not much that can surprise me anymore."
Said the old man.
" It was a meteorite that fell from the sky."
Arthur answered.
" You always did have a hyperactive imagination Arthur, but for real where did you find the dragonborn egg at. "
The old man asked again.
" Um Guildmaster he's not spinning you a tale, the egg for Tykeim, I mean this Dragonborn fell from the sky. "
Devarius explained .
The elder sighed.
"This is troubling news."
Said the Guildmaster.
"Troubling, why? "
Arthur asked.
The Guildmaster picked up a book.
" You lot may be a bit young but have you heard of the draconic goddess Tiamat? "
The Elder grabbed a scroll and unrolled it upon the a table.
"Wasn't she that one dragon chaos god that almost ended the world?"
Arthur answered.
"Correct Arthur but luckily for us she was slain a eon ago, but as a consequence of killing a dragon god her very essence flowed down from the heavens and into our world corrupting many people, this led to the birth of dragonborns, draconic people. "
The Guildmaster explained.
" Wait, so dragonborns didn't use to exist? "
Alisa said surprised.
" No, not until Tiamat was slain over a millennia ago. "
The elder explained.
" Okay so that's how dragonborns were created but what does any of that have to do with Tykeim? "
Devarius asked.
" Tykeim? "
The elder asked.
" It's the mok's name, he liked it. "
Xepug explained.
"I see, Tykeim's role in this has to do with the prophecy that Tiamat said with her dying breath. My return will be herald when my essence birth a draken from a housing of onyx and scales as black as the void of oblivion. "
The Elder recanted the prophecy to the party.
" But Tykeim's egg came from the sky, no one didn't...lay him, I think. "
Devarius said, a little befuddled.
"Yes but you wanna know why her essence turned many people into  dragonborn, in turn creating a whole new race of people? "
The Elder asked.
All the members shrugged their shoulders.
"Because she's hoping to reincarnate within the race she herself created, this is why many of the now dragonborn race are a closed off society as a god her life force contains essence of all living beings by dragonborns producing amongst themselves  and not mixing blood with other races they limit the chance of her revival. "
The Elder explained.
" So we're all good then, Tykeim wasn't born from anyone on earth and the dragonborn race lives as an isolated race, nothing to worry about. "
Arthur said.
" It seems that way but from what you all explained to me, this dragonborn hatchling has black scales and you told me he was within a meteorite and most meteorites contain obsidian and Onyx also... I pray this hatchling don't herald our doom, to be safe Tykeim will have to be slain"
The Elder said much to the shock of the teens.
Xepug quickly grabbed Tykeim and hugged the hatchling to his chest.
" You ain't touchin the mok ya old bastard. "
Xepug shouted.
" Yeah he's just a baby, Tykeim will never do that. "
Arthur said.
" It's the only way I'm afraid, right ,Devarius, Alisa? Speak some sense to your teammates."
The Elder said to the other two members.
Devarius and Alisa nod to each other.
" We can't do that Guildmaster, he's just a baby."
Devarius said.
"What if we keep an eye on him and if he acts weird we'll bring him to you. "
Alisa said to the Guildmaster.
The old man thought to himself.
" This may be against my better judgment...but fine he may live but keep the hatchling under your watch at all times. "
The Guildmaster warned.
" We understand, we'll keep watch of Tykeim. "
Devarius bowed.
" Well alright in that case I must ask, do any of you know how to take care of a baby? "
The old man asked.
The Teens remained quiet.
" I figured. "
The old man said as he pulled out a baby blue book and tossed it to the party. Devarius caught the book and read the title.
"Child Rearing 101: Reptilian Edition."
Devarius read out loud.
"Dragonborns should be similar to most reptilian children and take this also. "
The Guildmaster tossed a small satchel toward the group, which Alisa caught.
Alisa looked into the bag to see a bunch of gold coins.
"Wow, that's a lot of money."
The elven rogue gawked.
"It's all for the Dragonborn hatchling, this includes food, clothes, diapers, and other items. "
The Guildmaster instructed.
"Now you are all dismissed. I suggest you go get the supplies needed for the little one while there is daylight left, I'll keep an eye on..... Tykeim while you're all out getting supplies. "
Said the Guildmaster.
The party looked to each other and nodded as they handed Tykeim to the Guildmaster.
Tykeim reached out to the party.
"Mama mama!!"
Tykeim reached frantically.
Xepug walked over and rubbed the top of the hatchlings head.
"It's alright Mok we'll be back in no time and we'll have a bunch of stuff fer ya too."
Xepug assured the hatchling.
"Yeah don't worry, you're a member of our party now, and we never abandon a party member."
Arthur said as he playfully tickled Tykeim.
The hatchling giggled briefly as he looked up to the party happily.
" Mama's hewe gain."
Tykeim said.
" He knows sentences? When did that happen? "
Alisa asked as she turned to her party members but they all shrugged their shoulders.
"Usually reptilian offspring often learn at a bit of a faster rate than your average human like children so he'll have a grasp on speech slightly faster."
The Guildmaster explained.
"That's fascinating, heck soon enough he'd be helping us out in battle soon enough."
Xepug said with a laugh.
"Please someone like Tykeim is much more suited for the arcane like myself. "
Arthur jeered as he walked out.
" Let's not be hasty,  lizardfolk paladins exist, who's to say there can't be a dragonborn paladin."
Devarius explained as he left the study.
"If he grows wings, think of all the treasure he can steal.... I mean find."
Alisa shouted as she rushed out the study.
....
The Old Man sighed as he looked down at Tykeim.
" This is probably against my better  judgment but I feel they can handle this.... I hope, what do you think Tykeim? "
Said the old man as he playfully tossed  the hatchling in the air and catching him earning a giggle from Tykeim
