"Right," called Lexi.

I nodded, holding my hands up and moving the right one.

I turned on my heel and walked down the right path, the others following behind me.

Before we'd gotten very far, something big, purple, thin, and ugly jumped in front of us. Scarlet shouldered her way through us all, glaring at the beast.

"Don't make me," she told it solemnly.

It looked at her as if it knew what she meant.

"Try me," it said, staring back at her.

"You asked for it."

And then I can't believe I saw it.

The tiny goth girl's body was completely engulfed in flames, but she seemed to be perfectly in control. She thrust her fiery hand towards the monster's face. They collided and the now singed animal was flung backwards as if by a string like they do in movies.

"Anything else?" She asked, her fists raised.

The monster shot her a fearful glance, then turned to dust.

"What was that?" Lexi asked, amazed.

"Fire demon for a dad," Scarlet said breathlessly, having just returned to her regular form.

"Respect," Morgan said.

"So should we get going?"
