Chapter 6: Dance Battle
Matt's work here was almost done. Once he's got the last one under his control, he can proceed into the Citadel, where he'll finally end this entire thing. All he needed to do was free Eight. Should be simple enough. He walked past 4's unconscious body and went into the next chamber. The last room was barren, save for a glowing dancefloor. Speakers were all about the place, and a soft, yet sure voice met him. "Matt! You showed up!" He looked forward as a magenta light snapped on, revealing Eight, hand on her hip and a smirk on her face. "I almost thought you wouldn't make it. But here you are. Impressive." Matt looked at Eight, tilting his head a bit. "You really think that a person with my rank is gonna give up, just like that?" Eight looked up, her smirk growing wider. "I didn't expect you to. Say, you look a bit tense. I think we should loosen up those muscles a bit." Matt's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?" Eight smiled. "You like dancing?" He flinched. He'd never been asked that kind of question, and for a moment, he was silent. Kinzie taught him a few lessons in dancing, but he'd never been able to dance properly unless he felt the rhythm. "I do. What are you planning?" Eight drew back. "If you can beat me in a dance battle, I'll remove my shades. And if you don't, I think you know." "I stay here and out on the shades, right?" "Indeed. Now," Eight snapped her fingers, and a beat started up. "Let's see how you work it, squid boy~"
Cod, how many times had Matt heard that insult? The beat didn't sound right to Matt's ears, but for Eight it seemed like she was having a perfectly fine time. Her moves were particularly strange, but that's probably just Matt's distaste for Beatist stuff from his Synthist senses. Eight twirled around the room and did some very mesmerizing moves that involved deceiving Matt into making him think she's somewhere else. The lights followed her, giving Matt a flash of memory of what happened in the nightclub long ago. Eight finished her own routine as her music ended. She gave a smug look at Matt, who broke into the music system. He began to play one of his own tracks, one he had from Inkopolis. As it began, Matt tapped one of his feet to the beat, before doing what can only be described as a "Sniper Dance". Two smoke clouds formed near Matt, and from them, two clones of him were formed. They joined him in the dance, getting Eight to lose her groove. However, she stayed focused, and twisted the music into a Beatist version. Matt and his clones didn't let up and forced it back to the original version. It kept swapping between the regular and Beatist versions before Matt had enough.
He turned off all the lights, and cut the music. Eight looked around in the dark, confused. A yellow light pointed at her, slightly blinding her before moving in front of her. The light pointed to Matt, alone and looking away from her. There was a click, and music began to play. "Vocal percussion on a whole 'nother level, coming through my mind..." She raised an eyebrow. Matt turned to face her, nodding his head to the beat. He started walking in place, and snapping his fingers. He started shuffling to the right. Eight recognized the dance. It was the fabled Torture Dance. Anyone watching it suffers greatly, yet they can't look away. After a small bit, one of the smoke clones showed up and synced to Matt's movements. The music built up before hitting the chorus. The third Matt showed up for it, and now all three were doing the Torture Dance, putting it at maximum effect. Beams of light went into Eight's shades, and cracks started appearing in them. As the dance continued, her shades began to break more. Once the chorus finished, the original Matt looked over to Eight. "If you're not gonna give up to me, then you should probably start worrying about your eyes, Eight!" "Uh... Ah... Aaaaaah!" She screamed. The dance was too much for her eyes. Matt pointed at her sharply, summoning a blast of electricity that overloaded her shades, smashing them and knocking Eight unconscious. Her looks turned back to normal, and the area lit up. With Eight done, Matt's only got one more thing left to do. Enter the Citadel for the final challenge. It all comes down to this...
