Chapter 5 part 2
"Granny!"
The two humans look at each other, only for Claire's eyes to land on a painting, where the giant woman has just formed.
"Guys, look!" Claire exclaims.
"Beakley?!" Scrooge exclaims.
Webby gasps, "She's been lost in the past!"
Scrooge frowns, "The storm's not just blasting things here, it's blasting us back!"
"Wow, who woulda thunk it, Sherlock?" Trollhunter sasses.
Everyone turns to the Trollhunter, who immediately takes back their statement, "Sorry, I get sassy in dangerous situations."
Suddenly, cowboys, pirates and circus performers appear, although the circus performers look more like prisoners who've just broken out of jail.
"Oi! Mind the carpet with those muddy tires!" Scrooge exclaims at the circus folks. "We have to send back all these orological outliers!"
Claire mutters, "That's a mouthful."
"Gyro! Find that Tub!" Scrooge orders.
"Got it!" Gyro nods just before he gets struck by lightning, leaving behind an echo of "I've immediately failed you!"
The Trollhunter stumbles just before lighting can hit them.
"I regret putting my armour on!" They scream, dodging pirates and lightning.
Claire exclaims, "Then take it off!"
Trollhunter glares, "I'm not revealing my face to the ducks, thank you very much!"
"Where's Louie?" Della asks.
Trollhunter yells, "Upstairs! I saw him running up earlier!"
Claire opens a portal underneath Scrooge just as someone tries to stab him, making them miss him as she opens a portal next to her, him falling out in shock.
"What was that?!" Scrooge exclaims, mad magic was used on him.
Trollhunter runs over and catches the teen as she collapses to her knees.
"C-Bomb, what's wrong?" Trollhunter asks, worried for their friend.
Claire groans, "The storm's messing with my magic. It's hard to use it."
Trollhunter frowns, picking Claire up and running to a corner of the room.
"Claire, your magic has an effect on your body. You're overexerting yourself. Jim would kill me if anything happened to you while you were with me. Stay here where it's safe!" Trollhunter frowns.
Claire frowns, "I'm not doing nothing while people are in danger!"
Trollhunter sighs, the front of their helmet opening up to reveal the worry in their face as they look at Claire. Scrooge and the rest of the family are too busy to look at the teenagers.
"You aren't doing nothing. You're recovering your strength the storm is taking from you. Please, Claire. Jim is my brother in everything but blood and legalities, and that makes you my sister. I am not losing another family member." The human frowns.
Claire's eyes shine in amazement and shock.
"You view me as your family?"
Trollhunter closes the front of their helmet as they nod.
"Yes. Now stay, sister."
Claire stares at the Trollhunter as they run into the fight, protecting Huey from a sword.
"Leave the child alone, you historical hillbilly!" They growl, pushing the pirate away from Huey.
They then grab the pirate by her shirt and throws her into a wall, fear and anger running right through the human. Bubba jumps in front of the human just as a cowboy tries to tie them up, kicking the rope away.
"Bubba Thunka." He smirks.
Trollhunter smiles, "Thanks!"
Bubba then exclaims, "Bubba Tubba!"
Everyone turns to see the Time Tub.
"You found it!" Claire smiles, running out of her hiding place.
Scrooge smirks, "Time to send these unwanted house guests hoooooommeee!!!!!"
Everyone exclaims, "Uncle Scrooge" as he disappears into time.
"Can the universe just give us all a break, please?!" Trollhunter exclaims, righting the Tub with Della and grabbing the shower hose.
Everyone crowds around the Tub as the people from the past close in on them, Bubba on the duck family's side.
"It's okay! I know how to fix this!" Louie exclaims, messing with a few nobs.
Webby asks, "How are we going to get all these anomalies into that tiny tub?"
"Ask them nicely not to move?" The Trollhunter jokes.
Claire frowns, "We don't have to! They didn't come with the Tub."
Trollhunter smiles, "Claire's right! Aftershock! We just need them to ride the aftershock back!"
Huey smiles, "They're right! According to the JWG-"
He then gets struck by lightning, followed by Webby and Dewey.
"Kids!" Della yells. "Louie, hurry!"
She then gets struck by lightning.
The humans exclaim, "Della!"
Suddenly, Claire gets struck.
"CLAIRE!" Trollhunter yells just before they feel their hair all over their body rising.
They then feel an electric jolt and everything goes dark.
***
Claire opens her eyes to find herself on a plane.
"Hahaha! I'm a pilot!" Claire hears a child's voice exclaim.
"So that's what it feels like to be struck with a thousand volts of electricity." Claire whispers as the plane shakes.
Claire puts her head up to see what seems to be Scrooge, one of the triplets, and a younger version of Della.
"Oh, fudgenuggets." Claire frowns.
Scrooge exclaims, "We need to land! But where?!"
The boy replies in a raspy voice, "How about that island?"
Claire grips onto the chairs behind the three ducks, trying to hide so she doesn't mess with the timeline.
"The Phantom Island! Take us there!" Scrooge yells, panic in his voice.
The human hides underneath the chairs as the plane lands shakily. She's not coming out until the coast is clear. The plane finally stops moving, Claire letting out a sigh in relief. The ducks open the plane's door, jumping out, Scrooge jumps to the ground while the children jump onto the roof.
"We're alive! Yay!" They yell, making Claire chuckle.
Claire smirks, "That was just like Toby to do."
Claire rolls out from under the seats in the plane, accidentally leaving behind a hairclip.
"Ha! We're alive! Nice work, Lass! That was incredible!" He then catches himself and scolds the young Della, "Incredibly dangerous! No time to waste! F.O.W.L. is still out there, seeking the papyrus!"
Claire narrows her eyes. Who's F.O.W.L.? What's the papyrus? The teen peaks out the door. Scrooge says something but Claire doesn't hear it. The three ducks walk towards the jungle, Claire following them with the Shadows as she picks up some mud and smears it over her body.
***
Well, after following Scrooge from the past and the kids with him, Claire has learned a few things. One, the little boy is basically an Emo kid that has a thing for rhythm, music and is called Donald. Two, the tiny Della is very excitable, seems to want to run after death with a pickaxe in her hand, and she is indeed Della. Three, Scrooge is a businessman who forgets to look at the little things passing by in life.
"You gotta embrace the experience, man! There's more to life than work and money." Donald frowns.
Scrooge mutters, "Says the future freeloader."
The kid starts singing something which Claire has difficulties following, and then he triggers a trap. Claire, hiding in the trees, watches the elaborate trap unfold in worry and concern. Suddenly, Donald gets thrown into the air.
"Aw Phoeeeeeyyyyyyyy!" He yells.
Claire panics and makes a portal to high in the air, following the boy. He starts to fall back down, into the trees. Claire grabs him just before he crashes into the trees, pulling him into the Shadow Realm where Gravity is practically nonexistent.
"AHHH! Who are you!? What are you?!" The young duck exclaims.
Claire chuckles nervously, "I think I just messed with time. I'll put you back near the ground. Please don't say anything about me to anyone! It could mess with all of time and space."
Donald nods, seeing how worried she is.
"Alright."
Claire makes a portal, putting him closer to the ground but still in the trees. He falls down the trees, tangled up in vines.
"On that peak there! A ship!" Donald exclaims, pointing to the peak.
Claire sighs in relief, knowing the young duck won't say anything.
Scrooge exclaims, "A ship on a peak? It must be the papyrus's doing! Ye found it, Lad! Yellowbeak's lost ship!"
Della climbs her brother and bites the vines off, making him crash into the ground. The teenager holds in a chuckle as she follows the group of ducks towards the ship through the shadows.
"I wonder how Y/N is doing." Claire frowns.
***
Y/N opens their eyes to find themself in a dark room, their armour not on them like normal.
"Well, this is new." Y/N mutters.
They quickly summon their Eclipse armour to blend into the darkness. They look around to see Mrs Beakley escorting a heron to a cell. The human holds in a gasp at the hairstyle both females are wearing.
"Seklos and Gaylen. This is the 1960s." Y/N mutters.
Y/N flattens themself against a wall as another bird walks in, putting their helmet on. Seriously, are birds the dominating species or something? Y/N frowns as the bird starts to negotiate with the female in the cell.
"We simply run the world from the shadows with an iron fist!"
The female frowns, "And you call this?"
The male pulls out a card and answers, "O.W.L. The Organisation for World Larceny. We'll steal the world from out under S.H.U.S.H., take control, and make a tiny profit."
Y/N mutters, "It's H.Y.D.R.A. and S.H.I.E.L.D. all over again. Only this is real."
"I don't know, seems a little, Bleh!" The female frowns. She suddenly perks up, taking a pen from the male and writing on the card. "How about we add an F? The Fiendish Organisation for World Larceny! For some Supervillain sizzle."
Y/N fights the urge to facepalm.
"This is not outlandish supervillainy! This is order, control!" The male frowns. "With your world-conquering gusto focused by my top secret strategic planning, the sky's the limit, and-" She turns away from him. "Fine, I'll add the F."
Y/N rolls their eyes. Some people really are just foolish.
"This is the beginning of a beautiful Fiendship, Bradford." The woman chuckles.
Y/N mentally scoffs. You hear one friendship pun, you've heard them all. The woman then lockpicks her cell with the pen, opening the door.
"Go now. I'll contact you."
Y/N narrows their eyes at the birds as the female runs away. They then smirk with a plan. Just before Bradford turns on an alarm, Y/N grabs his arm.
"Hello, Bradford." Y/N smirks under the helmet.
Bradford asks, "Who are you?!"
Y/N chuckles, "Me? I'm someone you'll possibly meet in the future. I am the Trollhunter. When I get back to where I belong, I am going to hunt your entire organisation down and show you all that's wrong with your little supervillain organisation."
Bradford growls, "It's not-"
"Yes, it is. It's too bad, though. If you tell anyone what you've seen here, no one will believe you because there's no proof I've ever existed." Y/N smirks, walking away from him, as he quickly pulls down the alarm.
"They'll find you here and think you've let her out." Bradford smirks.
Y/N shrugs, "I don't think so. In fact, I think I'm about to disappear in a bolt of lighting in just five minutes or five seconds. Either way, you better start your panic acting."
Bradford runs out, yelling, "Help! There's been an escape!"
The doors behind Y/N open, making them turn quickly only to feel the electric shock from before.
***
"You're back!" Louie exclaims, hugging his brothers. "I am so, so sorry!"
Beakley frowns, "Well, this should be good."
Trollhunter looks at Claire, chuckling at the mud all over her. Although they can't say much, they're in the dark and broody mode armour(Eclipse). Della's in a suit of armour, Dewey and Webby look like hippies, Huey looks like he was in a Western, and Scrooge looks like he was in ancient Egypt.
"I thought I had a fool-proof get-rich-quick plan, but it turns out, I was the fool. Can you guys ever forgive me?" Louie asks.
"Called it." Trollhunter mutters, getting an elbow in their gut from Claire.
Suddenly, Gyro appears in a suit. Everyone agrees to forgive Louie, huddling around him, Claire and the Trollhunter just standing at the side of the hug awkwardly. They haven't developed a good enough relationship with these people yet to hug.
"No." Della frowns. "Not this time."
Louie asks, "What? But I really am sorry! We hugged and everything!"
"I watched your brothers blink out of existence because you wanted a shortcut to riches!" Della glares.
Claire goes to say something only for the Trollhunter to cover their mouth.
"Not yet." Trollhunter whispers.
"But I said I was sorry!" Louie protests.
Della exclaims, "You took off in that contraption without thinking about the consequences or the people you would hurt!"
Louie mutters, "I wonder who I got that from."
A few gasps go through the room, and one "Daaaaammmn."
"See here, young man-" Beakley starts.
Della raises her hand, not letting Beakley continue.
"Your little scheme to bypass the present almost cost us our future! This stops now! You are grounded. No treasures, no schemes, and Louie incorporated is done! Understood?!" Della orders.
Trollhunter growls, a few people hearing, but Della and Louie seem oblivious to it.
"No! Look, let me clean up! Uncle Scrooge? Mrs Beakley? Come on!" Louie exclaims.
"To! Your! Room!" Della orders.
Louie walks away, sulking.
"That was a little too far, Della." A voice announces.
The group turns to the two humans, obviously not expecting either of them to talk.
"Oh don't give us those looks! None of you can think this is fair!" Trollhunter exclaims.
Claire frowns, "He had to watch the people he's grown fond of for years blink out of existence. He lost his brothers, who are as old as he is. He lost his best friend, who he's known for a year or two, and then he lost his uncle and all his family. He's only known you for a few months, but he had to watch you blink out of existence. I understand grounding him, but taking away his entire company that he actually worked for?"
Trollhunter nods, "You could have at least put it on hold, not take it away completely! You have only known the kids for a few months! Imagine how much harder it is for him! He's grown a lifelong love for them, and they have their own way of discipline. You've just disregarded this and disciplined him for something you haven't even been disciplined for. We saw the news. You haven't earned the title of "Mother" just yet."
"You have no right to tell me how to parent my children, freaks!" Della snaps.
Claire gasps, backing away from the Trollhunter, who's shaking from their knees to their shoulders. Claire makes motions to say to Della to take it back as her eyes continue to reveal fear.
"What did you call Claire?" Trollhunter growls.
Della goes to argue, but Trollhunter continues, "The poor boy didn't think he was doing any harm, then when he found out, he put all the stuff back, trying to fix it! Congratulations! You've broken any bond with your son that you may have had! And then you foolishly chose to call us 'Freaks'? Congratulations! You've invented a new kind of stupid. A 'damage you can never undo' kind of stupid! An 'open all the cages in the zoo' kind of stupid! 'Truly, you didn't think this through?' kind of stupid! Congratulations, you fool! You've redefined your legacy! Congratulations! The children and Scrooge are under my protection, but you've just revoked any protection I was going to provide you against any mutual enemies!"
Claire puts her hand on the Trollhunter's shoulder, telling them to stop.
"They've heard enough, Trollhunter." Claire frowns.
The Trollhunter growls, "Claire, we're going. Obviously, our services are not wanted here, no matter how desperately they may be needed."
The human growls as they walk towards the door. The two humans walk out the door, but the Trollhunter stops for a moment, their left hand on the door.
"By the way, until further notice, Della Duck is forbidden to approach my charge!" They snarl before slamming the door shut, leaving a crack in the door.
The children glare at Della.
"Trollhunter helped us and saved us," Webby frowns, "and you just hurt them."
She walks away to her room, the boys following her.
***
Y/N dismisses their armour as soon as they step through the portal into the house, tears threatening to spill out of their eyes.
Claire frowns, "Y/N? Are you-"
"I'm fine, Claire." Y/N growls, walking off to their room.
They slam their door, sending a giant shake through the entire house, gaining the attention of both Cabrera's.
"What happened?" Fenton asks.
"Are they okay?" María asks.
Claire shakes her head, "Someone has just upset them. Called us both freaks. Set them off."
It's not Claire's place to tell why Y/N was set off.
***
Y/N slumps onto their bed, remembering Della's words.
"You have no right to tell me how to parent my children, freaks!"
They pick up their stress ball, squeezing it repeatedly as they clench their hand, quickly drawing in breath, hoping they'll calm down.
"Freak!"
"Pathetic!"
"No one cares about them. It's a wonder Tarron took them in."
Y/N growls and throws their ball into the door, which bounces back at their head. Y/N grips their head where the ball hit them. They roll their eyes, pulling out their headphones. They connect their phone to the headphones and play some music to shut out the words echoing in their heads.
They lie down on their bed as the music plays and Faouzia echoes her voice in their head. Now, most people in their situation would be all broken and have self-inflicted wounds. Not Y/N. They just listen to music in order to drown their sorrows. The only wounds on them are from fighting or cooking.
"Y/N? May I come in?" Y/N faintly hears María ask.
Y/N pulls off their headphones, them just hanging around their neck as they open the door.
"Hey, María. Sorry if I disturbed you earlier." Y/N apologises.
María frowns, "No need to apologise. I'm just worried. What happened?"
Y/N sighs, "It's a long story and I just want to be alone or scream at the duck that insulted Claire."
The human sits back down on their bed. Most people have lots of doubts running through their mind, but Y/N? They stop thinking, just staring at a wall or ceiling for hours, not even realising they're doing it until someone tells them.
"Dinner will be ready shortly, Y/N. We're having Enchiladas." María smiles hesitantly.
Y/N shrugs, "I'll try to be there. If I'm not down, send Claire or Fenton up."
María nods as she walks out of the room. Y/N just lets the tears pour out of their eyes as they play the music again.
"Knees to chest, I start to cower
As the water falls down on the bathroom floor..."
