Dewey was in love. He knew that. His brothers knew it, too. In fact, most of his family and friends knew. There was just one person (or should I say duck?) who didn't know. (Y/n) (L/n). The one he was in love with. Dewey didn't even know if (Y/n) knew he was alive, much less if she liked him back.

He was getting sort of restless, waiting for her to notice him. He caught himself staring at (Y/n) when he was supposed to be paying attention in class. He really wanted to talk to her, but his usual confidence disintegrated when he even thought about talking to her.

One day he got up the courage to wave to (Y/n). She waved back politely, and went back to talking to her friend.

Then, Dewey decided to talk to her after school. He ran over to the girl, but just before he got to her, he suddenly decided against talking to her.

No method to the madness and means of escape

A few days later, he got up, put on his favorite outfit, fixed his hair perfectly, and decided that today was the day. He was going to do it.

He ran downstairs for breakfast, and explained what he was going to do. His family gave him some encouragement, and he ran out the door, his brothers following.

When they got to school, Dewey saw (Y/n) alone at her locker. His brothers gave him a quick pep-talk, and he was on his way. He walked over to (Y/n)'s locker, and noticed that she was humming a familiar tune. The words played aloud in his brain.

I got whatever it takes
It's a piece of cake

"You like Powerline?" he questioned after the girl had finished. She nodded.
"I listen to his songs with my dad." she smiled, causing Dewey's face to be suddenly tinted with pink.
"Cool!" he replied.

The rest of the day, Dewey tried to focus, but instead, his thoughts were still on the girl he loved...
